Sandy: The promise of being able to lose 10 lbs in 3 days was what sold me on the 3 day diet, and looking at the diet plan, it didn't seem too difficult to follow. I didn't mind having the structure of eating that way for 3 days; my problem was always on my normal eating days. I'd go right back to eating whatever I wanted, whenever I felt hungry and would often skip breakfast or snack in the evenings. I tried this for about a month, and though my weight fluctuated, the weight loss was not permanent. This is not a diet I'd recommend to anyone.

Carina: The 3 Day Diet has been around for a long time, but still, 10 pounds in 3 days seemed awfully tempted. The instructions for the diet say you have to follow the instructions VERY SPECIFICALLY! and exactly, and I did. I measured everything, took no more than those 5 soda crackers, even though by this point I felt like I was close to death by starvation, and was absolutely precise in about anything I put in my mouth. And by day 3, I just couldn't do any more. I'd lost 2 pounds, was dizzy and weak and felt like I could hardly get out the door. I can't do this one, no matter what the promises

JanuaryLaMott: There is nothing really "magical" about the Three Day Diet. It makes sense that eating high protein foods like tuna and hard boiled eggs are better choices than many of us normally make. I have realized that if I just cut out sugar from my many cups of coffee in the day I am already making a huge difference calorie-wise. I have learned how to eat better from this plan but I would not necessarily recommend it for all women.

julia: This diet made me extremely hungry and so i ended up PIGGING OUT once i was back on real food again. I mean, it is very restrictive, and it ended up causing an extreme YOYO effect on me. I wish it was just a little bit more balanced and less severe, because I ultimately gained 3 lbs on it.

Robin: I've been following this diet for about 2 months and still haven't lost any significant amount of weight. And I'm getting really bored with the meals on my diet days. Is it possible to vary these at all, perhaps eat different fruits or veggies? I dont know if I can follow this for much longer.

Carys: Hot dogs and vegetables? Yum? Not so yum, although by the time you get to the last day, you're ready to eat your arm, so hot dogs seem like not such a bad idea. This is a silly diet, it doesn't work except to make you pee a lot, and I gained the five pounds I lost back in a couple of days. Don't bother.

Mimi: I don't like a lot of the foods you have to eat on the three day diet for example beef franks and cottage cheese and cauliflower. I thought I could do it since it was so short but I would rather substitute turkey for beef franks and yogurt for cottage cheese. But it was so specific and clear that you have to follow the plan exactly as prescribed that I didn't and I almost gagged. This diet doesn't make sense I don't think. I think you just have to eat fewer calories. Coffee is good for your metabolism so I will continue to drink alot of coffee and also so I have less appetite.

Shaun: For some years I've been hearing about this Three Day Diet and I finally decided to see what it was all about. I did a search for it online, and this site popped up immediately, and THANK GOD! Auntie_Em: Yes, i completely agree about all of the coffee involved in this Three Day diet! It truly overwhelmed my system, and I felt uncomfortable and ill. I'm not that much of a coffee drinker normally, and so this felt very unnatural for me. Plus i believe it dehydrated me. I suppose that's the trick with this diet -- create the illusion of weight loss through caffeine dehydration. But I think i would prefer something more lasting than this, and more authentic. It's now been 3 weeks since i did this diet, and the weight is 100% back.

Elisa: Well I'm finding I do best on this diet if I stick with it from Tuesday-Thursday and it is not all that difficult. Then on the weekends I don't really have to worry about what I eat or anything. It would be impossible to spend a weekend eating this restricted diet. I haven't lost a whole lot of weight on it, but Im sure it just takes time.

sophia: I don't do beef franks....I feel like this diet is so restrictive, there's nothing left if u take away the meat. I"d just eating green beans and cabbage all day...(and coffee of course)...

DEE: I did it for awhile and felt a little lighter after about a month or so, but never lost 10 lbs. I've gone back to it on occasion, but I am beginning to wonder if its even that healthy. I've been hearing more about problems with artificial sweeteners, do they actualy lead to obesity, does anyone know?

Talullah: I am trying to schedule myself to do the Three Day Diet when I didn't have anything else going on. My friends and I go out to dinner often or my family has a Sunday dinner planned or I am looking forward to a certain special at work. I thought I would start on the next three day weekend. I do have a few questions and since there is no author or authority to ask I have come to you ladies with my inquiries. First, when they say tuna do they mean plain or mixed with mayo? Prob the former but I think that is kinda gross. 2, what about alcohol? I mean, can I have a glass of wine if I want to? and 3, should you exercise or will you not have enough energy from calories? I LOVE coffee, and this seemed like a great way for me to go...so the first day I got through just fine, the coffee kept me zippy, and I thought I could just FEEL the weight starting to go...ok, so the second day was not going so well...I decided I'd throw in a Trimspa just to jack things up a bit and get my metabolism on super speed...that and the coffee really ought to work, right? Wrong! I ended up staying up all night, after I'd tried to run off whatever I'd done to myself, but I could just NOT calm down, and then I really wanted to eat to maybe absorb some of the things I'd put in my body...I thought I was going to have a heart attack I was so speedy, and I thought that food would calm me down. It didn't, I had to wait it out, and by the next day I was exhausted, and THROUGH with the 3 Day Diet!

Magdalena: I think it's a bunch of mallarky to say that anyone can lose 10 pounds in 3 days. I know my body and that is just not possible. I tried to devise my own plan by counting the calories in every meal of the Three Day Diet and making my own ingenious substitutions. For example, I can have an entire can of soup for lunch and a dish of berries which is more filling and satisfying. I am keeping my calorie count at more or less what this diet indicates and I am losing weight, slowly, which I think is safer anyway. Any tips though about giving my metabolism a kick? I know that's what I need...

janine: hm, well i don't know, i happen to enjoy my coffee anyway, and i do like being able to have little treats like ice cream. But this is strict and i do feel rather hungry. I am just hoping it will work. One day left...will report back. janine

miranda: ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS are the DEVIL...not only can they lead to obesity due to a 'false sense of security,' they also carry a cancer risk! I tried this Three Day Diet on a whim, but there is no way I am going to consume artificial sweeteners, so i used raw sugar. I guess without the artificial sweeteners, this diet pretty much falls apart. I didn't lose a single pound.

Susan: The Three Day is better than some that I've tried, and I feel better than on the cleansing diets I've done in the past. I just am having a bit of trouble not bingeing on my off days though I think I'm becoming more aware of what I'm eating. I lost 3 lbs in the first 3 day cycle but, nothing the next. I'll keep on with it for awhile, maybe a month or so, and see how it goes.

Celena: I think the 3 Day Diet is ok for me. I like it that I know that I only have to do it for 3 days, and can then eat what I want. I don't think the weight loss is very noticeable at first, but if you stick with it, sooner or later it's bound to work, right? I just wish there were more interesting food to eat for those three days. Tuna and toast? And notice, there's no mention of butter. How can you eat toast without butter? Seems like somebody should update this to make it more like what we're used to eating....but for 3 days, I can do anything...

Lara: Can I do diet coke instead of coffee? I feel like I am burning a hole in my stomach, ouch. This diet is kind of stupid but I need to follow a strict plan or else I totally cheat. You have to be so thin these days what else can a girl do?

Taryn: Hi so I've been alternating on the Three Day Diet for about 6 months but I overall, I have only lost about 3 or 4 lbs. Is it really okay to continue on this, and for how long? I keep hoping that I'll suddenly just start losing but I am beginning to wonder if this will ever happen. I don't mind the diet restrictions that much, I just..need to lose more weight.

Sienna: The Three Day Diet is not for the lactose intolerant. Let me just say that. It causes quite a stir in my stomach, etc and I couldn't do it for more than a day. I would rather go back on Weight Watchers where at least you have some leeway and more choices.

Cathy: After starving for 3 days on this diet, I kind of went off the deep end, eating everything in sight. I didn't want to do that, but the Three Day Diet made me so hungry I couldn't help myself. I binged for at least a week after that. I also think this diet pretty much screwed up my metabolism, because I haven't been able to lose weight since, no matter how hard i exercise or diet.

Alanis: So I know this is not an easy diet to follow but I am surprised by all the negativity here. I happen to really like the Three Day Diet, it is not nearly as restrictive as other diets I've been on. I mean, I really only stress about food for 3 days, and then I don't have to worry at all for the rest of the week. Its slow progress, but I don;t feel bloated or anything during that time, or too starved. Its working for me.

SAllie: I used the melon and vanilla ice cream to make a smoothie - yum! You can Modify this diet a little I think. I mean, who is there to tell you you can't. I think the basic idea is a good place to start especially if you;re like me and have a tendency to eat too much of "good foods" instead of in moderation. I like having to measure and weigh what I am eating. When you see what a portion of meat should look like you get disgusted by what you get in restaurants.

Geneva: I think the One Day Diet might be working OK for me.....it's not easy, but I feel like it might be doing something. The coffee is giving me a bit of insomnia and jitters, but I do think i am at least losing some water weight. Any kind of weight loss is good as far as i am concerned. i just hope i don't gain it back after the 3 days are up.

Toni: I am not the kind of person who likes to waste a lot of time on a diet...so the idea of doing only 3 days really appealed to me. And when i saw that i lost 7 lbs in that time, I was even happier. I thought, well, i took care of that fast! But now it seems like i have gained back 4 lbs, and its only been 2 days post diet. I haven't been doing anything that extreme since i went off the diet, and i am not sure why the weight seems to be coming back so fast. Can anybody advise me on how to fix this? Should I do the Three Day Diet again, maybe?

sarah: You are pretty much out of luck if you are a vegetarian and want to try this. Maybe if it was a real diet that was founded on solid principles, they could provide healthy substitutions. But this Three Day Diet is totally random and insane anyway, so it really can't be modified very well.

Chanel: I'm right in the middle of this 3 Day Diet plan, and I'm reading what everyone has to say, and I'm starving, and it doesn't look like it's going to work, so I'm going to make an English Muffin, with butter and peanut butter and extra apricot jam, and stop torturing myself RIGHT NOW!

Naomi: The Three Day Diet is more like Groundhog's Day. I keep messing up and having to start over with Day 1. I am so sick of Tuna. I wonder if I can do other kinds of raw fish instead. Pamela: Before this diet I had a tough time eating enough fruits & vegetables in a day, and so I began incorporating more fresh foods on my non-diet days, which is a plus. However, I felt like I was just not consuming enough calories on those diet days, I felt very tired by day 3 and would usually go to bed around 7pm, rihgt after dinner. I am looking for a better diet that will give me more fuel in the long run, and also help me burn fat, the 3 Day Diet just isn't quite enough.

Sherry: I have been doing WW for a month and lost 10 pounds. I wanted to try to jump start my weight lose for summer so I tried the 3 day diet. after 1 day I lost 3 pounds. I did not feel hungry or sick or tired at all. I am on day 2 and just finished breakfast - still doing great and hoping to lose a few more pounds!

Tyler: As said by many all diets work! It is the after the diet that is the main culprit. I have tried Cabbage diet, Hollywood juice diet, Nutra slim and what ever is there. I did loose weight on all of them some more some less. It is after getting off them that I struggle. So far this 3 day diet is the easiest for me. I loose about 6 to 7 lbs after the 3rd day. I just need to watch what normal eating for me is. It is a good jump start as long as you start watching what you eat normally.

sara: I agree with you completely, Tyler! Anybody can loose weight on one of these gimmicky little starvation tactics. And the 3-day diet is no different. It sounds like right now I guess you're on the "upside" of this whole vicious cycle, the severely restricted diet part, which yeah, will probably lead to some weight loss. But let me tell you what happened to me with this. After starving on nothing but veggies and tuna, i pretty much wrecked my metabolism. So that even tho i lost 5 pounds, when i went back to regular food, I packed it on faster than ive ever seen. I mean, i gained 16 lbs back after the measly 5 that i lost. So i just want to say to you guys, be careful what you do to your metabolism, or it will take revenge!

Suzi: My Mom did the three day diet about 18 years ago and she had the weight to lose due to being on steroids for months. She lost almost 40 pounds in less than two months. She did not drink the coffee (only water and lots of it) she did not eat 1 cup of ice cream each night she ate 1/2 cup and she used the fruits and carrots for snacks in between meals. She also ate mostly protein with NO salt on her other four days along with veggies and fruit for snacks, and NO coffee! Coffee is not good for your metabolism it is actually a faker to it. Water, rest and regular exercise is the best thing for your metabolism oh and of course eating three meals and some healthy snacks and stop eating at about 7(ish) this diet does work and yes you have to make sure you are going to be on top of your eating on your four days off and once you are done with your diet.

Taylor: The Three Day Diet was impossible to stick to and maybe I lost like a pounds but in this age of holistic thinking and health why would anyone really think this relic form the 80's would work. The black coffee burned a hole in my stomach and I am completely repulsed by hot dogs now. I am taking a good herbal pill and just treating my body well. Smaller portions, a little fun exercise, you know the drill. Stay away from this and all fads---they are bad for our heads!

Kate: I am not big (124 lb, 5'4), but I use this diet weekly for Mon-Wed to get rid of weekend pounds. It works, I loose about 3 lb without suffering at all.I exersise 5 times a week. Its much easier than cabbage soup diet I used to do.I cheated (substitute)some things, but it still worked. If I would only stay decent on weekends, I would be loosing more and more weight every time. Great diet, I enjoy tuna with a one spoon of light mayo, I enjoy toast with egg, etc.

Trista: Interesting approach Kate but, I don't think it would be very healthy for me to allow myself to binge on the weekends and then quickly drop the weight. And I was not even ably to lose 3 lbs on the 3 day diet anyway, so if I followed Kate's approach i would just end up gaining weight. I just signed up for the 5 Factor Diet..dieters all seem to really be happy with that plan, from what I've read, so, we'll see!

Toby: I've done this diet twice already and I really like the results. I didn't lose 10 lbs. each time but I did lose 4 each time. And that happened even with me cheating a little. The trick is, on the 4 days you are eating "normal", you still need to eat sensibly. I haven't gained back one of those lost lbs. I eat healthy on my off days and I don't overeat. I'm happy with it & the results. I don't feel bloated and my scale keeps going down. However, I would not recommend it to someone who is going to over-eat or eat a lot of bad food on the off days. That is very detrimental to the weight loss.

Ruth Ann: So true Toby! I did not PLAN on overeating or eating junk foods on my off days, and even did well for the first 2 weeks on the Three Day DIet. But soon my appetite and cravings got the beter of me. It really was too much of a yo-yo for me. I've found that an appetite suppressant does better for keeping my food intake under control (Miracleburn is my fave product btw) Did not want to resort to a pil but I feel more balanced than i did on this diet.

taneshia: i dont understand why people are so negative. you jus cant expect a miracle.you have to work for what u want. if the diet says no substituting then y would you do it anyway. mayb thats y it didnt work.if you want to loose the weight then u have to have faith in yourself.do some type of exercise,calories dont burn itself u know! charity: Ugh, the 3 day diet was just a 'starvation' diet where you can hardly eat anything...of course your hungry...your diet is SEVERELY restricted! I tried it for 1 day and it made me feel shaky and horrible. MY friend did the whole thing, and yeah she lost a few lbs but gained them all back once she started eating normal! it was an awful diet.

sanya: I have been on and off this diet for 10 years and yes it really works, I always loose 7lbs a week and yes if I eat crazy on my off days, it all comes back but if I stick with meats, vegtables and all the fruit I want and 2 serving of bread the weight does not come back. I fill better on the 3 day diet than I do when I am off. It works!

Sandra: I liked the idea of the 3 day diet that's why I gave it an honest try. Unfortunately it did work for me. My problem were not the 3 days but the days in between. I would just eat so much on those days that whatever i had lost during those 3 days would always come back. I didn't that for 2 months and finally stopped. I didn't manage to loose 3 pounds at the end, but what a roller coaster. I think in the future, I'd like to try a diet that is the same everyday so I don't get confused, Maybe the south beach, i don't know. I am gonna take a break from diets for awhile.

cody: I tried the 3 day diet for about two months i lost 7pounds the first week and about the same for two months then i slowly got off of it and maintained my weight just fine. On my off days i would pretty much just eat subway sandwitches turkey,chicken or ham with alot of lettuce and carrots with very little dressing or none at all! I stopped eating foods that you can open and eat i tried to buy fresh or cooked it myself my opinion is that anything that is a instant meal is not good for you and i drank as much fluid as my stomach could handle and i would walk 1-2 miles about 3-4 days a week but i'm also a guy and i always heard it's easier for men to lose weight than women? The thing that will help you ladies tring this or any other diet is to do not weigh your self everyday do it about once every 2weeks trust me you will see a change in your weight dont revolve your life around food or your scale "your life should be your food your food shouldnt be you life"

Amanda NJ: I gave Three Day Diet a try even though the ratings were low I thought it sounded like a good diet. I was wrong. I only lost 2 pounds the first 2 weeks, not enough to keep anyone motivated to continue on it. It just was not for me.

Grayce: I don't think anyone should just jump into this. Of COURSE if you're used to eating McDonald's and pizza you'll feel hungry on this diet. I've been eating between 1200-1500 calories a day as a weight loss diet for a while now, and it HAS worked, but with summer coming (and my wedding!) I need to speed the process up. I spent a WEEK preparing for this diet. Getting used to black coffee, getting used to smaller and more spread-out meals, and practicing yoga; one should NOT exercise vigorously on a VLCD (very low calorie diet) so I'm replacing my usual workouts with yoga. That said, the 3 day diet is best for those who are ready for it, TRULY ready...If you honestly feel like you're going to 'pass out' by day 2, then your body is not ready for the shock.

shannon: hm well i read on a very trust worthy web site that the ThreeDayDiet is "another fad diet"...not to mention the rankings of this diet on this site (which i also love) are not so great either. I think this is the kind of diet that might lower your metabolism and give only a short term result. I am looking for somethign that will help me lose the weight and keep it off, not just lose it thru extreme starvation and gain it back. i will keep looking thanks for the einfo.

Shannan: I think this diet is awesome.I needed to lose 10 pds and I lost 10 pds.If you want to lose it bad enough you wont mind being hungry.Im done with the diet now and am in the mind set that im not gonna undo all my hard work from the last 5 weeks.Its about learning what to eat and portion control.

Sherry C: A friend and I went on the 3 day diet a few years back and she lost 28lbs in 2 months and I lost 40, it was difficult at first but you do get use to it. We also use to walk every night accept on the weekends, I think that really helps out too..I dont think anything should be done without some form of exercise, even something as simple as walking. We are about to start again next week, will let yall know how it goes.

Michelle: diet is great for quick results for special occasions. it works if you follow it EXACTLY. Dont add or take out ingredients(seasonings like salt/pepper ok). That means no adding mayo to the tuna or consuming anything not on the plan. For those who cant take the coffee have tea or water! dont have drinks like juice or soda even if it is sweetened artificially. fake sugar has been known to slow metabolism. to help with the hunger, space out the foods throughout the day so that one of the menu items are consumed as a snack between meals. i used the fruit as my snack between meals and it helped ALOT! for example, day 1, eat dinner apple as a snack between lunch and dinner. fruit has much fiber and can hold you over great. what i love about it is that during the diet, i feel lighter and i actually have more energy during the day. but it definatly is a temporary fix, you will most likely gain it back if you pig out after youre done.

Susan: I love the 3 day diet it helped me to lose 5o pounds . I would do the 3 day diet and on my 4 days off i would try to not go over 1800 calories, also I would keep my exercising for my days off. I found that it shrinks your stomach and helps you with portion control.Boy do you appreciate food alot more..

erin: ok most of you people are morons to think that the 3 day diet is going to work - when on your "off" days you will gain all your weight back when u eat the normal garbage u eat. u cannot lose weight unless u cut down on calories and EXERCISE. sometimes u just have to get off your fat a$$ and do soething about your weight. there is no quick fix!

Kris: I'm indeed very petite and healthy. I eat heathy food and exercise. But for the past two weeks, my weight had been going up to 2 pounds more than my "ideal" weight (according to my standard). My friend told me about this diet a few years ago. I never tried it because I was normally slim and careful about my food. So I just started three days ago trying to go back to my ideal weight. The diet is not bad at all for my size. I didn't eat the hot dogs though. I ate lean meat instead. And I'm not sure if I did the right cup portions for vegetables. Anyways, I lost three pounds in three days. So it works for me. I'm happy.

sue: ive done the 3 day diet first 2 weeks ago and lost 7lb i tought there was plenty of food it also helped me with stomach acid and heartburn which i always suffer from due to my fondness of spicy foods eg curry,onions etc... i did it again last week and lost a futher 7lbs im very pleased with it i also go walking every day to keep it off if u want to loose weigght bad enough you have to work at it
