joanne: Helped to make me fuller faster and loose 80 pounds.

Winnie: Didn’t work for me I only lost about 4 lbs in 2 months with Meridia. I still had a huge appetite, this was dissapointing.

Jenny: Worked extremely for the first month or so. Had to remind myself to eat–truly–so that I did not pass out. After I ate one large meal (not because I was hungry, But because I was invited to a dinner party), it never worked again. From that day on, even when I took it, I had a huge appetite.

MIZZY: I TOOK IT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS AND LOST A TOTAL OF 30 POUNDS. IT REALLY WORKED FOR ME. IT TOOK MY APPETITE AWAY AND IT HELPED ME LOOSE WEIGHT RAPIDLY. I HAVE ANOTHER FRIEND AS WELL THAT TOOK THE PILL AND SHE LOST A NUMBER POUNDS.

jayne: meridia worked great in the beginning but then the effects started to wear off SIGNIFICANTLY until it wasnt working at all anymore. but by then i was physically and psychologically addicted to this stuff. I think its wrong to market this pill that only works for a little while, for people who need it long term! anyway, i finally got off Meridia, and by the time all was said and done i had regained the weight and my blood pressure was back up.

Jennifer: I took Meridia for about 4 months and lost almost 40 pounds. I’ve tried every OTC diet drug ever made and nothing works…only a prescription diet pill like Meridia

GHM: The Meridia caused my blood pressure to spike in the first 2 weeks so I had to stop taking it. Which was kind of a relief, as I was constipated the entire time. I was looking forward to fast weight loss but this didn’t work out. I am weary of rx pills now & may go au naturale next.

Bob: I have been using 15 mg Meridia now for about 8 months. When I started I lost fairly rapidly , then held my own for about two weeks and then started losing again. This happened 2 or 3 times but I always started losing again. My goal was to lose 32 pounds so I could fly a helicopter and now I have lost 54 pounds.I am 64 years old and feel so much better that I am going to continue to take it until I become a rack of bones. I actually have a social (sex)life back.

lisa: i also experienced an extreme blood pressure increase and severe anxiety with Meridia, and i also reached a major plateau with this that i never came back from. this kind of pill that interferes with your central nervous system is probably not best for anyone who has anxiety insomnia or any sort off issues with stimulants like nicoine or caffeine. My doctor basically told me i needed to stop taking this because it was causing my blood pressure to be at an unsafe level. All this, and it stopped working within a month!!

Nancy: did not like it.Yes it helped surpress my appittite but it also made me constipated and unable to sleep even though i was tired . I have sleep apnea due to weight problems . so sleep is very important to me . Also i experienced a crash at night time and felt the urge to eat . not sure if this is just habit for me or a because of the pill . But for such an expensive pill i expected so much more in the way of appitite supresion . Yes i lost eight pounds the first month , but then again all i have to do is drink some water and Hey its back . so as far as diet pills go (and i’ve tried my fair share ) this one is just to expensive for what little it does . maybe the only reason it works is because you feel that for 100 dollars or more a month it should do somethin .

jackie: I stared Meridia 3wks ago. at first I had no reaction toward the drug, two day ago I ended up in the hospital with severed stomac pains. At fiirst I thought it was kidney stones, I got a CT scan done and they found nothing. I didn’t take the drug for a day. When i took it yesterday a couple of hours after that same pain dame back along with the constitation and the bloting I had before.

Carol D.: Meridia also caused some cramping and constipation for me though not as severe as Jackie. I didn’t understand the constipation since I was eating less but by the end of each day I just felt so uncomfortable and huge. I thoguht it would work if I just gave it time, but it never really aided the weight loss. I switched to a hoodia supplement (Hoodia P57) about 5 or 6 weeks ago, and its made a huge difference. I have none of the side effects, since this is natural, and I eat fewer calories, about 1000/day. I’m losing weight, a total of 14 lbs so far. I’d suggest this, if Meridia is causing problems.

connie: I am starting meridia today with hopes of losing 40lbs and getting healthier and exercising more due to the fact my energy hopefully will come back…any suggestions??

Bebe: Did anyone who liked Meridia and lost weight, kept the weight off?

Monica A.: It did work for my appetite, for a bit at least. I was very hopeful about Meridia in the beginning, maybe the first 3 or 4 weeks. I was eating less, getting full more quickly and able to say no to desserts. But I also had trouble wiht my BMs..it would fluctuate from constipation to diarrhea. Got to be too much, had to stop after 2 months. Looking for something natural now, to lose 38 lbs.

Jim: I have been taking it for 3 months now and had NONE of the side effects cited here on this site. It was amazing how immediately it killed my appetite. I can eat about half as much as I normally would and feel satisfied. What disappoints me is that even by eating so much less the weight loss has been very gradual.

Sadie: I’m DONE with this! 4 months on Meridia and only 7 lbs lost! Every month I told myself, “next month, the weight will come off” and guess waht, it never did. I’m gonna look into something with a fat burner now I think, I guess it will take something stronger to get the 53 lbs off.

sweetie: I took Meridia for 60 days because that is all my Dr. would give me. I lost 13 pounds and noticed a huge difference in my appetite. I hate half of my normal food intake. I am 4 days off Meridia and feel like a cow! I am so hungry and I feel like I am starving all the time. I eat every 2 hours and I am always thinking of food. Meridia was a savior…until I stopped taking it.

Monty: Thats the problem with Meridia, unfortunately, its not a long term solution. And how can you keep losing without a Rx?? I gained about 12 lbs when i got off Meridia and then i tried taking Hoodia and it pretty much had the same affect on my appetite. I use the Hoodia bites for cravings, works great.

Johanna: Hi, I have had a positive experience, I am 66 yrs old, lost 40 lbs. and exercised as much as I could and it worked. I am still on the pill because the last time I lost 40 lbs. went off the pill and gained all the weight back. I am checked regularly re blood pressure, love the extra energy level I seem to have and as far as constipation goes, however it comes out, who cares! Good luck all!!

Sara: I have been on it for a month and I feel fine…the first few weeks kind of Dizzy. But with exercise and drinking alot of water I have lost 9 pounds in one month I think its great. I recommend not to drink or do drugs while on this medication

julie: Meridia seemed to work so well at first, i didn’t mind the dizziness and high b.p. because i thought i was helping myself But then it just stopped working very suddenly and that was that, it wouldn’t work again. I guess i didn’t relaize it was such a short term solution but it says so right on the website that it was “short term”. I should have been smarter. Maybe i will try some hoodia, those bites don’t sound like my thing but i heard of a good pill HOodia P57.

blacks4mccain: Did anyone experience premature/early menopause while on meridia. Or irregular periods for that matter

hawckeye: I have been on Meridia for 4 weeks and have lost 15 lbs. I check my blood pressure at home at it is the best it has been in a long time, maybe because of the weight lose. My appetite has been surpressed and I too have to make myself eat. I plan to continue on Meridia for another 2 months and hope to lose 30 lbs. When I eat, I eat healthy vegetables, salads, chicken and fish. My only side effect is slight constipation, but eat carrots and that is a natural way to take care of that problem. After 2 weeks I started using the treadmill, exercise and sensible eating is also part of the plan to lose weight on Meridia. I think everyone’s body chemistry varies and you need to find the aid that works for you. Good luck!

sv: I have been taking Meridia for 2.5 months. I have had no side effects and my blood pressure has remained normal. I have made it through the holiday season without gaining weight and am thrilled. I have lost 16lbs. and feel wonderful. My doctor recommended it only because I was exercising regularly, watching my diet and still had trouble losing. It has been the jump start I needed to losing weight and being healthy. I have about 45 more pounds to lose and am working hard with the assistance of Meridia to achieve my goal. Meridia thankfully has been working for me but everyone’s body is different. Meridia isn’t a “miracle drug” but it really does work for some people.

Ann: The first time that I used Meridia I lost forty pounds and loved the new look that I had! After I went off of the drug, I slowly gained half of the weight back that I lost in a year. I began having hip and knee trouble again and asked to go back on the pill. I experienced dry mouth the first time but not to the severity that I am experiencing now. I am miserable and can hardly stand the feeling of the dry mouth!!! I am also having constipation problems and sleep problems this time. I am on my second month and am going to ask my doctor if I can get off of this. I have tried Hoodia before and was very successful dropping the weight. I can’t wait to get off of Meridia and use Hoodia. I exercise daily and hope the combination will be successful! I only want to drop the twenty pounds again and keep it off! I’ll be one happy woman and have one happy husband!!!!

melissa: Its a shame. i see a lot of people who are on the Meridia “roller coaster” which is a good way to live and can really mess up your metbolism and self esteem. I remember when meridia stopped working for me, i completely blamed myself for that, but now I’m seeing that this is just how this drug works. It helps wonderfully for a while, but then it drop-kicks you and then you are on your own. i regained all of my lost weight (26 lbs) plus another 4 lbs when the Meridia stopped working for me. Well i am proud to say that i’ve found a better solution, i’ve been on South Beach diet for 6 mos now, and I have lost a grand total of 45 lbs. And i can just tell that this time, I’m actually going to keep it off!

Maria: I have been on Meridia for about a month and a half. The first week was great and it seemed to work good then I was always constipated, and then my face, neck and back broke out it acne so bad that I fell like I am going through puberty all over again, and i ich all over. I stopped taking it today.

pms'd: Worked VERY well at 1st. Lost about 10-15lbs 1st month or 2. Then started noticing SEVERE issues related to hormone balance. EXTREME PMS all month(mood swings, temper, teary), pain and spotting at ovulation, and then MEGA PMS just before period. severe acne, facial rashes. Now I’m miserable and bloated and the weight is creeping back on. Had to be the Meridia as it acts on Seritonin uptake and receptors which also used by progesterone. I’m still trying to get back into balance. This stuff works well for weight loss but consumers should be warned about all the detrimental imbalances it creates in the body. I would never have taken it had I known the hormonal hell it would leave me in!!!!

re re: this is my second day using merida my goal is to lose 40lb in three to six weeks i will keep you posted but for right now i have cut back on my sugar an fatty foods.

Lisa: I was on Meridia for a year and it helped so much to lower my pressure and I lost 25lbs.I loved it and the dry mouth and constipation were very minimal. I was happy with Meridia but then my insurance would not cover it and it was too expensive for me to pay out-of-pocket for it, so now I have put back on the 25lbs plus more and my blood pressure is elevated to where I had to be put on a higher dose of BP medication. I’m miserable and thinking what now?

melanie: It is strange to me that some people are suggesting that Meridia lowered their pressure? it caused mine to SKYROCKET to 160/100, which pretty much was one of the risk factors i was trying to decrease by losing weight. Also, i noticed that this medication pretty much stopped working for me after a few weeks. I had to stop taking it due to the BP but it seemed like it had quit on me already.

Janice F.: When I took Meridia I didn’t not see a change in my BP whatsoever. I felt okay the first couple weeks, maybe 3, and lost about 8 lbs. I kept taking it even though I was experiencing slight heart burn but only lost 2 lbs the second month. At that point I stopped. Since then I have taken a herbal supplement (Slim 10) to help with my appetite and to burn fat. I’ve lost 13 lbs in the past 5 weeks and have had zero side effects. Its a relief to find something natural that works & be off the meds.

Heather: I just went to my doctor a couple days ago and he gave me a script for Meridia. I am not sure now if I want to start taking it now. I just finally stopped taking BP meds. I also have thyroid problems (hyper and hypo). I have been exercising about five days a week for about six months now and I am not happy with my weight loss. My diet is the problem!!! My doctor thought this might help me get over the hump. Any suggestions??? Should I try it??? I would like to loose about 50 lbs. or so. I just want to be healthy!

Dara: Did not like the side effects caused by Meridia, similar to what many of you had (constipation & dizziness) and so I went off the medication. I did lose some weight but it wasn’t worth the discomfort. So anyway, I’ve been doing well with Weight Watchers and also Hoodia bites for the cravings. I figured, this time around, i should go as natural as possible and this seems like a more long-term solution. In one month I’ve lost 11 lbs. I dunno but, this is whats working for me.

Michelle: I am starting this pill today, 1/22. I am looking to lose 80 lbs. At least for now. I’ve been on my way to losing weight by losing weight (7lbs) on my own and doing the Wii Fit and eating healthier, cutting out all soda and just eating sensible. I will post my progress int he next week or two :)

Nora: Have been on Meridia one month..so far, haven’t lost anything, even though i don’t feel hungry. I eat healthy and eat small amounts. I am taking the 10 mg, and may try it one more month, before asking Dr for the 15mg. I haven’t experienced any negative side effects, other than not losing any weight!

Sonya: I was on Meredia and lost almost 50 lbs. It worked for me but with exercise. I didn’t have any side effects, And felt full enough for only one helping at each meal. I agree it might only work for some. But It did work for me!

Meka: Hello my name is meka and i have been taking meridia for two weeks and it has done wonders for me it has took me from a size 22 to a 18 and yes even though it may be harder for others you have to just shop for what’s right for your body but for mines it’s working great!!!!!!!!

Alicia: Sorry but I find it very hard to believe that anyone could drop down two sizes in two weeks, with Meridia or anything else. Even with surgery its not an instant loss like that. Maybe I;m just particularly skeptical since, after taking 15 mg of Meridia for nearly 2 months I am not experiencing a huge change in my appetite. Very very moderate results. I will finish the bottle but am not planning on buying more.

karen j.: Taking Meridia made me feel constipated, I had to stop the medication in about 3 weeks. No more pills for me, I am now all about the South beach diet. Its tough but I think its gonna teach me better habits in the long haul. So far, 10 days and 8 lbs dropped!

PaulaD: To Michelle and/or any others……want to log our success together? I just got the script today and will probably be getting it filled tomorrow and starting Thursday. I am new to Meridia. I called around and got a price of $126 at Wal-Mart and $106 at Sam’s Warehouse for the 10mg for a 30 count. Is this the cheapest that it comes?

Amber: This was going so well for me about 11 days, I was eating less and lost 3 lbs week one, and 2 more in the following days. I felt fine with Meridia & I was SO excited about my step with taking a diet pill. But then I suddenlystarted to get really bad stomachaches, about an hour after eating. I couldn’t even finish the whole bottle! I just tossed it yesterday. Back to square one I guess.

Vick: I noticed no difference at all in my appetite or fullness level with Meridia. It was like buying a $127 bottle of baby aspirin.

amanda: Started a little over a week ago on Jan 22 2009 and have lost 4 pounds. I still get hungry but don’t eat as much. The first few days I felt strange (almost high, hard to concentrate) and I almost quit taking them. I don’t have the side effects anymore. Hopefully my body won’t build a tolerance for the pill. I would like to continue to take it for several months until I lose at least 30 pounds. 50 pounds would be wonderful.

Linda: I take Meridia 10mg. It does make me a little anxious but any diet pill will do that. And we have to be honest with our selves. This drug is normally only prescribed if you are obese, not just over weight. The nervous feeling is a sign that you need to go do something, instead of sitting on your but. It’s suppose to motivate you to be more active. The appetite suppressant works great but once you loose some weight, just like with any diet, you will reach a plateau. I know that I sound like I’m defending it becuase I am. It has made such a life change for me. It turned my thoughts to me instead of what I’m going to eat next. It has been the most liberating think for me. To be honest, I do have some of the side effects such as dry mouth and some anxious feelings but they are at their strongest when I first take it in the morning. I guess all I’m trying to say is that if you have a lot of weight to loose, 60+ lbs then it’s worth a try.

Elisabeth: I had and still have over 80lbs to loose. Meridia is not helping much, I do have the dry mouth but I still eat the same. Still hungry. I am not sure why it does not work for me but I am seriousely considering the bypass surgery.

laura: Hey, Linda, that’s great that Meridia seems to be working for you…..with your plateau, how quickly did you reach that point? Because I felt like I hit a plateau way too quickly with meridia. It was like 3 weeks and already i stopped losing weight, and really i had a lot more weight left to lose. so….now I think i need to try something else. I am considered morbidly obese, and i thought meridia would help. i found it to be very very disappointing.

Diana: I was about 25 lbs overweight but have an openminded doctor. The Meridia DID work for me. The first few days I had to be very strict in my food intake and drink lots of water. I ate 5 small healthy low-calorie high protein meals including fruit, vegs and lowfat, lowcarb yogurt, string cheese, lean meats and LOTs of water. After I got over the hump (like quitting smoking) it seemed I had more self control. Try to get through the first 3 or 4 days and be really careful with what you eat – i’ll bet you’ll have more success. Too bad my script ran out – don’t know if he’ll give it to me again. I do have naturally low blood pressure and the only side effect I noticed besides the dry mouth (drink water) was slight constipation. I do work out 4-5 days a week. I felt very energetic.

sherry: Diana, I’m confused, why wouldn’t your doc renew your Rx of Meridia? Did he not give you enough of it? or if he did, why do you need more?

Sandy: I’ve been on Meridia for about 3 months now. It was awesome for the 1st 3 weeks but then I experienced the same thing as Jenny – After one big meal it stopped working – just like that. My doc bumped me up to 15mg but with the exception of the occasional dry mouth (and yes, the constipation reported by so many of you), I feel zero effect. What a bummer! I’m going to hang in there though…Does anyone know if you can take Meridia at the same time as that HoodiaP57? (is that what it’s called?)

Mary Lou: For days now I have been reading the blogs and trying to figure out what way to go for my weight loss. I also like Hoodia as a natural option but am considering Meridia too. I suppose I should talk to my doctor but, do doctors even know mucha bout herbal alternatives? That’s what worries me, is that he would just push a med like this because he doesn’t know better? I’m sure this could work but I don’t like the sound of the side effects. Not sure what to do at this point.

Michelle: I am having a similar experience Meridia. It just stops working after awhile and I would need it to work of at least 3 more month since I am still 32pounds over weight. I need to look for something else.

gladys: after regaining weight (22lbs) when i went off hte smart for life program i decided to go on meridia, as a final last resort. i was doing well for about 2.5 weeks and then the hunger returned with a vengeance. now that i have tried diet program and medications, maybe natural is teh way to go, i dunno. all i know is i am still 18 lbs heavier than i would like and nothing i’ve tried has worked for long.

Scott: Just started Meridia today 2/4/09, am hopeful, Dr. told me works for some and not for others will let you know

Barb: I started on meridia 1 week ago and went to see my Doctor on Tuesday my blood pressure was normal and I was down 9lbs to his disbelief he re-weighed me on another scale and sure enough it was correct. I will continue to take this as long as things progress.

Doreen: I started Meridia about two months ago. Approximately two weeks into taking the pills I felt control over my appetitte, this helped during the holidays and into the first part of January. The last two weeks however, have been horrible. I want to eat everything in site! I did go down a pants size and was very happy, however, now my pants are tight again. I intent to finish this bottle and stop the this medication. With the expense and the possible side effects I have read about, it’s just not worth it.

Betty: Meridia works very well for me. From day one it suppressed my appetite and have no dessire whatsoever for sweets or fatty foods. I’ve been taking Meridia for 2 months now and lost 18 pounds, some days I forget to take it, and still works . The first week I was edgy, but no too bad, then, I decided to lower the dose and the 15 mg tablet cut it in half, so I take 7.5 mg daily. I take it during week days only, no on the weekends. Fortunatelly I don’t get any of the symtoms people mention. I do get dry mouth, but drinking watter and chewing gum solves the problem. I will continue taking it one more month,no more than that.

Holly: Well, i was told i was NOT FAT ENOUGH to take Meridia bcs my BMI was not high enough…well that’s a first for me. and yet, at 175 llbs, iwas most definitely well overweight. I think this is just for truly OBESE people, Meridia is. So i was stuck trying to find something else, so i explored herbal options….i knew i had a super slow metabolism so i tried Slim10. this definitely ramped up my metabolism and i reached my goal weight of 125 within 6 mos. I was super proud and i look and feel great. meridia, shmidia!

Regina: I lost 11 pounds in 6 weeks and I really did not change my eating habits or exercise. I had no negative side effects.

sandra: I have been on it a little over a week now and according to my wii fit I have lost right at 7 pounds. My wii also says that I have gone from obese to overweight. How funny to be excited to be labeled overweight. I think the Meridia is helping some with the appetite. I dont find myself lusting for food. The 134 dollars that CVS charged me is admittedly a motivator. My doctor made me promise to do at least 30 mins workout 3 days a week minimum. I am noticing the sleep challenge but I have anxiety problems anyway so I take an antianxiety to sleep with this and wake up PUMPED. I normally draaaag myself out of bed. I have been able to get up and wii fit 3 days in a row before work. The dry mouth is bad! I work in the dental feild so it can lead to other problems new decay or gum disease. There are over the counter products to deal with this that usually last for a couple hours at a time. I take BP meds that cause dry mouth also. I am also diabetic as of 18 months ago. I really want to get healthier and my glucose readings have been going in the wrong direction. It has been really nice to have this extra motivation. God bless you all in your goal to health.

GEM: I have been on Meridia for 2 weeks and have noticed a huge difference in my appetite, I am barely hungry, have to remind myself to eat.

Rachel: I have been taking meridia for one week, have lost 3 lbs. It helps me not thinki about snacking and munching. I haven’t had any side effect yet, but I will update later. I do have to say this much. It really irritates me that people complain that after they stop taking it they gained the weight back , when the whole point of this medication is to teach you new eating habbits. If you stop watching your diet and exercise with anything diet aide or program you use, YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT. Don’t blame the medication or the diet, blame yourself for not continuing on a healthy diet regimen. No one wants to blame themselves for gaining weight. We gained weight , for the most of us for sitting on our butts and eating to much and we expect a pill will take it all away and keep it off after we stop taking it? After discontinuing meridia, I plan to work very hard to continue to eat right and exercise. Only reason I am on it at all is because of my health issue and I must get this off! So far, so good, and I am giving it thumbs up because I feel it is doing what it is suppost to do, and everyones body’s are differant. But I hate to see people complain that they gained the weight back after discontinuing like it’s the medications fault.

BETHEL: DId not enjoy my experience on Meridia, I was not eating and very tired first few weeks then i started to feel hunger pains again around week three or four. i had emptied my cupboards of snacks but on several occasion,s cravings wer so bad i had to take a trip to the store for chocolate. i lost 7 lbs the first month and 0 lbs the second. I stopped taking since it was no lnger weorking.

faye: in 2.5 weeks of meridia it is not helping my hunger. i am exercising more and eating more fresh foods but just feel queasy in the pit of my stomach and hungry still. i don’t hink i will continue.

amanda: Been taking since Jan 22 and I have lost 7 pounds so far. I weigh again on Thursday so I will update.

kelly: hey, seems like Meridia’s gotten some bad ratings…i’m going to steer clear of this i think.

Mitchell Minkoff: I started taking Meridia about four months ago. The good news is, it works. The bad news is the side effects. I suffered dizzyness, ringing in my ears and a horrible dry mouth. Four months after I stopped taking this medication, I still have dry mouth, although not as bad. My advise is to lose weight the old fashioned way, through diet and exercise. If you decide to take Meridia, stop taking the medication at the first sign of a side effect.

Hollie: I just started taking Meridia 3 weeks ago and have lost 18lbs so far. We need to keep in mind that not all perscription medications work for everyone!!! Personally, I think Meridia is wonderful.

Barb: I have been taking meridia for 2 weeks and have had no side effects. My appetite has decreased a lot which has helped me lose 12lbs in the last 2 weeks. I hope to continue to see results with more exercise and diet.

Donna: I had done a starvation diet recently. I lost 80 pounds in 5 months, but have completely destroyed my metabolism. I only (!) have 20 pounds to go and the doctor and dietician have suggested meridia might increase my metabolism. I am very hopeful that it will, but I am also realistic enough that I need to learn how to eat properly again and need to start moving. It won’t be a cure all, but hopefully it will be a nice “jolt” to my system.

Scott: 2/17/09 Two weeks on Meridia, a little dry mouth, not too bad, lost 12lbs. no other real side effects, remember ssme drugs work for some people, I have change my eating habits, cut portion size, and low calorie. I hope after meridia, I can keep the healthy eating, after I lose a few more pounds will start to work out a little(yuk).

Lorrie: Been on Meridia for 3 weeks. Lost 13lbs. Surpressed Appetite well, extreme dry mouth, some constipation, little insomnia. Will try for a few more months. Don’t like the dry mouth, and I need sleep.

Connie Neals: At the time Meridia seemed like the best choice, was on it for only a month, had some of the same dry mouth, constipation, etc as peopel mention but I jsut, didn’t feel good about being on it. I was so determined to lose weigh, I started reading more blogs and reviews and I found HoodiaP57 on this site after reading good reviews. I have never looked back. My appetite is less and the weights coming off steadily.

Jennifer: Hi. I’ve been on meridia for two weeks and have lost 15 lbs. I think the reason some people are not having success with this drug is that they’re relying completely on the drug to do all the work. I am not doing that. I realize this is a tool, and I’m working WITH it to lose weight. Choose healthy foods. Don’t expect it to work if you’re still eating chocolate, or pigging out at dinner parties. What I have trouble with dieting alone is controlling portions. This drug is perfect because I don’t have to be afraid that I will still be hungry after a much smaller meal. I’ve had no side effects except for 3 occasions of dizziness, but two of those were because I had irresponsibly skipped breakfast and it was almost 2pm before I ate lunch. I know that’s the worst way to diet, it’s much better to eat your large meal in the morning and then very lightly in the evening. The other thing I’m doing differently this time is forgiving myself if I am not perfect in my choices. Instead of giving up I’m starting over. I can’t believe the success I’m having at the scale, and it’s only encouraging me more to make the wrong choices less often. Good luck to everyone else out there :) And thanks for sharing.

Felicia: I started Meridia4 weeks ago and I have lost 9.5 lbs. I have no side effects. I think the huinger that some of you are experiencing is because your metoblic rate has increased which means you must eat more (6 smalls meals ) a day It is not a magic pill it must be combined with a weight loss plan. The Southbeach Phase Two works well with Meredia. Breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. If one is obese you can’t continue to overeat the wrong foods that breakdown in your body as fat and sugar, ie; white bread etc. I am looking forward to losing 50lbs by June, 2009 maybe more! My doctor says I must exercise as well.

john: I took meridia I lost 15 in 2 and a half months. my husband lost 25 pounds in3to 4 months. I had the dry mouth, constipation. My husband developed nose bleeds his blood pressure was up so he had to stop taking it.

t. SMITH: Actually I never considered combining Meridia with the South beach diet; I did not like the drug and ended up stopping, & just followng the diet. That’s not a bad suggestion, though Felicia, if you’re not having some fo the same health issues. High blood pressure was also my reason for stopping, well one of them. I feel more in control on the SOuth beach diet and in 7 weeks, have lost 23 lbs! Oh, only lost 6 in two month on meridia. I got started here southbeachdiet.com/freeprofile

JLee: I’ve only been taking Meridia four days and I’ve already lost six pounds! I am very excited and hopeful that this will continue. No negative effects so far.

Floyd: I have been taking Meridia for 7 weeks in combination with Nutrasystems diet. I started at 270 pounds and today weigh 235. Thats 35 pounds in seven weeks. I have found that it really helps control my hunger. I have to make myself eat. I really think that a diet like the one I am on with the help of the Meridia is really effective in controlling my hunger. My goal is to be under 200 pounds and I am half way there in seven weeks. I have joined the local gym and I lift with a friend three nights a week for about an hour each time. I have found that with diet and exercise the Meridia gives me that edge I needed to make it work.

kathy: I have been taking Meridia for three weeks and am finding that I am very dizzy, the dry mouth I cover with drinking lots of water….should the dizziness be gone by now???

allyson c.: I started Meridia today, 2-25, with a lot of apprehension but I feel fine, not shaky or dizzy at all. Hope all goes well. I will keep reading all the blogs to keep me motivated on this regime. Being 60 yrs+ the weight is just not budging so I have resorted to a little hope. This is my last resort.

Sarah: I started taking meridia about a year ago and was extremely happy with it. I lost 22 pounds in the first two months I was taking it, and felt great. Have relatively low blood pressure to start with so that wasn’t an issue for me at all. I don’t remember having problems with any side effects. I think I stayed on it for 6 months? May have been a bit longer, I don’t remember. But, I’ve kept the weight off pretty well now that I’m no longer taking it.

andrea: meridia did work while i was on it but then when i stopped takeing it i gained the weight again. i wish there was somthing i could take that would have longer lasting results, or that i could at least maintain with a good diet and execise,

Lynda: I take prednisone for Behcet’s Syndrome and for a 5′2″ woman who used to weigh about 125 I shot up to 185. Meridia was a life saver. Then I moved and now the dr’s in AZ where I live won’t give it to me. Needless to say I have shot back up in weight again and it causes so many more health problems. I loved it….

cANDYPANTS: i JUST STARTED TAKING MERIDIA YESTERDAY 2/28/ 09 LOVE TO READ ALL THE BLOGS, LETS KEEP EACHOTHER MOTIVATED!!

Talulah: Maybe its just not gonna work for me, I am one month on Meridia now, and only lost 2 lbs. I thought that the beginnign was always teh fastest and many people here, say they lost a lot right away. I am exercising, eating balanced meals, and still the weight won’t come off. THis is pretty disapppointing for me.

andee, lincoln city: you are not alone in this talulah, i was on meridia for four months only to lose, 6 lbs total. i guess i can’t say it didn’t work at all but, it did not work as i hoped. i have since tried hoodia (the hoodia bites, way good) and those help me more, for eating less. plus i never feel dizzy or anything, am finallly loosing weight (37 lbs, in 4 mos)

scott: Been on meridia for 4 weeks lost 15 pounds, no blood pressure issues, no constipation, all is going well

ladyp214: I personally love meridia. I have taken it several different times and it has worked tremendously each time. The reason that I have taken them at different time periods is because my insurance doesn’t pay for it, and it is so darn expensive to buy. 15mg, where I live is close to $250, so sometimes I have long periods of time that I don’t take it. And of course I gain the weight back. (mostly because I didn’t change my eating habits while on meridia, I still ate the same foods, and continued to lose the weight)however, this time, I am eating healthy, drinking water and walking, so, if I can’t afford to buy it after the prescription runs out, I will still be on a healthy eating regimen which should help me out until I would be able to get a refill. Honestly though, I love meridia. It’s almost a miracle, and I am sorry for those whose system can’t tolerate it, its fabulous!

allyson c.: I’ve been on Meridia for a little over a week and feel great. My appitite has decreased and I have lost 7 lbs. I paid $116 at Target with a AAA discount for perscriptions that are not covered by insurance. I checked the other big pharmacy’s and Target was the best price by almost $25.oo and then the discount. So it pays to shop around. I’m on 10mg and it seems to be doing its job. The Dr. told me that in order to stay on the medicine one would have to lose at least 4 lbs. a month. I have a 6 month script and then go back for a check on blood pressure. I figure Nutrisystem or other diet solutions would cost more that what the pills do and I can eat my own food. So far I am happy with the way things are going.

Candace D.: Hi, I just started taking meridia on Sunday, After having my son i gained over 60lbs I wasn’t overweight before but now I am struggling to loose weight, I want to have another baby but want to loose my excess weight before I have another child so I am hoping that this will work for me, after reading some comments I am hopefeul, being overweight hurts, I hope the pain will go away and I hope that meridia can help get me started. Good luck to all of you out there on it!!!!

scott: Just finished my 6th week smaller portions, and watch the calories, I have dropped 18 lbs. Working great for me.

wendy: hi everyone i was on meridia for over a year i dont have alot of the health problems some of you have mine is a bad thyroid (low) and i have no gallbladder so when my Dr put me on meridia it was wonderful. yes it increased my heart rate i could feel that but he also had me on welbuterin so i was on 2 seritonin inhancers i felt great had lots of enery they say for some people you should not mix the two but i never felt better than when i was on them.(due to no insurance i cant afford to take them anymore) but yes you need to watch your heart rate and preasure, i did not have the dry mouth or constipation, and it cuved my cravings wonderfully if i had coverage i would go back on both i lost lots of weight while on the 2 meds but gained it all back over time after stopping the meds, i would do it again in a heart beat if i had coverage….never felt better. i was a long timmer so i thought i would share my story with you briefly. this med will work but some of the meds you all take may affect how long it works please talk to your Dr. he can help you and fix your dose. it does work, its staying loyal to your diet i had a tough time with after the meds were gone. but for those who are at risk of serious issues as long as you stay loyal you will loose and stay thin.

Gina: Has anyone taken phentermine and meridia? Which one did you like best?

Merimeridia: I was just fat enough for my open-minded Dr to go ahead with it. I started 5 months and a bit ago. Lost 22 lbs or so… anyhow I FIT IN MY WEDDING DRESS. I have not been able to zip it for almost 15 years! My first wedding anniversairy was celebrated with twins on my lap… Sure I have had side effects like dry mouth and eyes drinking more water is the trick. Sure I have less urge to eliminate but I take herbs and it does the trick. Sure I am anxious and more nervous and impatiant but the feeling of jumping in a smaller pair of jeans every month is exilerating. Sure my periods are tougher but it’s only a few hours I can block of in my agenda to get a chance to go at the spa. Sure I get headaches but I wonder if it’s because I have nothing to wear that fits my me. Sure my blood pressure is slightly higher but seeing my husbands eyes when I undress I worth every beat. Sure I now seem to have reached my plateau and now have to stop taking it but I have learned to take care of myself and have had the time to take on good habits that will keep me going. I intend to switch to a herbal supplement and ride with it until my body finds its ultimate thinness… It was well worth the side effects and the price. Doing nothing would have changed nothing. Staying fat would also have had side effects. Don’t foul yourself you have to get with it and think weight loss, you are only getting a push to get started with this medication. And a push you will feel if you take the 15mg dose. I took the 10mg for 2 weeks and didn’t feel it was strong enough. With the highest strenght I didn’t think of eating all the time. I still had to eat healthy and exercise every day… Yes ate like a rabbit and walked 1 hour every night, but I needed the push a.nd really got the push

Lisa: I lost 50 pounds on Meridia, however I hit a wall and didn’t loose a single pound after that, so you can say it was a success, however I would have liked the pill to continue to help in my weight loss. Make sure to stay with your Doctor while taking this – very expensive! $150 a month no insurance will cover it.

Hopeful: I work with someone who inspired me to try Meridia. She started taking it August 1st and lost 50lbs by December! So I decided to try the 15mg and so far I have lost 3lbs in 1 week. I do get the dry mouth symtoms and have been drinking so much water becuase of it. I also have almost zero desire for any junk food or sweets. My only main concerns are the side effects of my blood pressure. I have borderline high blood pressure and my Dr. Perscribed 5mg Bystolic blood pressure med. I am very hopeful considering I have witnessed first hand results from my co-worker… what a dramatic change for the “WOW” she gets on those who have witnessed this as well…

Sandi: Well, day 2 on Meridia. Yesterday I found it did nothing. It took an hour and a half to kick in, I felt like I had a caffeine rush for a couple of hours, and thats all. Today, after an hour and a half of taking my second pill, I am stoned, lol. Kinda. I feel it all in my head mostly. Dry mouth, so thirsty, kinda dizzy, no energy, just kinda want to veg. Slight pressure in my head. Ok, so I dont feel like eating today, which is kinda nice for a change. I have a 10 day free trial. I really dont think as of now, I would purchase this product after my 10 days. Its 120.00 a month and no, I dont have a drug plan. Will let you know how I feel tomorrow.

Sandi: Well I went off Meridia. I felt aweful. A slight headache, veg state for 4 hours. By dinner time, I felt nothing. Its not for me. I hate the way it makes me feel. Its not worth it. Thank goodness I got a free trial because I cant imagine paying 120 a month for these pills. The diet pills I had gone on many years ago, worked so much better than this one. The doctors dont give them to you anymore though which sucks. So.. I will be doing it alone. I had started the South Beach diet 2 weeks before I started meridia and did well. Once you have it in your mind to do it… all goes well.

Anonymous: ***2nd week on meridia and so far have lost 6 pounds, my appetite has diminished, i feel great…have 30 pounds to go……

michele: This is day 5 on meridia for me and I have lost 8 lbs…I am able to sleep and do not experience any other negative side effects…so far it is great!!!

Jan: I have been on meridia for 2 months & have loss 19 lbs. The only side effect I have had is a dry mouth which goes away when I drink a glass of water. I was on 2 blood pressure pills & am now down to one. Yes, it is very expensive but how do you put a value on good health. I still get very hungry, but once I begin to eat a meal I fill up very quickly, often leaving half my meal on the plate. My doctor is increasing the dosage to 15 mg So, I am anxious to see if I continue to feel as good as I feel now. I need to lose 80 more lbs. I feel I am off to a good start. Best of luck to all of you.

IRY: I am 5′2 with 150 pounds not really overweight but on the borderline i want to loose 20 pounds i start meridian today can somebody tell me what is the best time to drin the pill???

jeannette: I am on Meridia 10mg. Has anyone experienced loose bow movements? I have, whenever I eat

Jeannette: Question for Wendy: Why can’t you mix welbuterin with Meridia for some people? My do gave me both, but the generic brand of Welbuterin – it hasn’t done much for me, so i’m just taking Meridia now.

AG: I am takimg meridia 15mg and so far I’ve seen nothing that it is doing for me. I still want to eat even after I take it. Can someone please tell me how they take this pill in d moring bfore r atfer u eat?

Sandi: I just wanted to report in, and let you all know that I am loving Nuphredine. I have lost one size, no side effects, appetite is under control, I would recomend this product to everyone. I will wait and let you know how much I have lost on May 7th when I go back to my dr.’s to get weighed.. Meridia is a negative for me.

MPFL: It costs a lot and when I was first on it my health plan didn’t cover it so I paid big time. Then the plan kicked in and helped the cost out so I kept on it. Actually been on and off it. It works initially for me and helps me take off 6-7 pounds and then I plateau. When I get smart and reduce the “in between” stuff during the day and keep up my swimming/walking and increase the veggie scene I’m cool When I travel for work, I go to hell. haha. I have been on and off it for a long time (more I guess after my work travel trips) but I’m worried about the long term affects. I don’t think being on any pill over a long term unless it’s a life necessity pill is a good thing. Seems a lot of consensus to the first 5-7 pounds with others too but overall it’s my own habits that I have to change and keep up with. I remember prior to my plan kicking in I spent 1500. one year! I can do a lot of great things with that money to help me lose weight and enjoy myself too “naturally” vs. supporting the shareholders of Meridia! haha.

Sandi: I have read so much on Meridia, and I am surprised dr.’s are giving it out. There are some very severe side effects to this pill.

GA: Meridia is the only diet pill that works for me. It definitely suppresses my appetite and I feel full with smaller portions. After giving birth to my child I lost 95% of my baby fat within the first six months. The only downfall is that once you stop taking the drug, your appetite comes back, and it definitely works best when you combine an exercise routine. I probably take Medidia for three months in a row out of a year combined with a 30 minute run 3-4 times a week, some light weights, and I try my best not to eat any junk food, but I eat mostly everything. I am 33 years old, and mother of 2. I feel and look great and Meridia helps me achieve that. Good Luck!

sally jo: I’ve been on this for about a week and it has done wonders for my appiate. I do know now that I am an emotional eater and with Meridia, I can take a step back and really measure if I’m hugry or if its just cause i’m bored or lonely. I haven’t had anyone bad side effects. I’m 5′1″ 197lbs currently. I will check back in and give an update.

CC: I have an underactive Thyroid and needed to lose weight. My endocronologist put me on 15mg of Merida and told me to take it with the over the counter Alli. I did it and lost 15 lbs in 3 months. BUT I also worked out and changed my diet. After my three months were up, I held my own for a few weeks but then all the weight came rushing back even with my lifestyle change. I was famished. I was told it was not my thyroid and she put me back on Merida . My second round of Merida was less effective and most insurances do not cover Merida so the full cost for me was $265 a month. So I no longer take the drug because I cannot afford it especially if it’s not working as well as before. The second time around I also was not taking the Alli – maybe that is why it wasn’t working to well…not sure. Anyways, I had no side affects by taking this drug but I am trying other things that don’t cost as muchto help me get my weight in check.

Michelle: I was put on Meridia in December ‘08. On my doctors visit a month later i had lost 20lbs. The very first day I took it, I took only a couple bites of my meal and was satisfied the whole day!!! It is now May ‘09, the satisfied feeling is still there all day. I am down now 32 pounds and my Doctor has advised to stick with Meridia until my goal weight has been reached. I did not suffer from any side effects what so ever. If anything, it has been a positive experience. I am happier and have more energy. It seems, as I begin to bring in better eating habits and exercising regularly, Meridia works even better.

sally jo: I lost about 7 lbs while I was on Meridia. I wasn’t able to stay on it very long. After about 2 weeks, I got horrible stomach cramps. So I have managed to keep off about 5lbs of the weight I have lost. I’m not sure if I will try another RX or OTC diet pill again after this scare.

Marsden: Today May 25,2009 I picked up my meridia, I am 240 lbs and aged 33, I hope to lose 60 lbs and am praying for my insurance provider to decide to approve this for me. I paid for the first script. I walked 20 minutes on the treadmill, and hope to increase that soon. I started drinking water too. I have alot to lose, but would rather give this a try before I grade it. Im also a risk for developing diabetes, as everyone in my family has it or died from it. I hope and pray that I can change my lifestyle and hope to eventually wean myself from this medication. Im not expecting a miracle, I know I have to work with it.. exercise and moderation ( food ), and am willing. I have a supportive husband and four beautiful children. I am excited, and have not expereienced any side effects yet. I do not smoke or drink, quit over 3 years now.. but have an addiction to coffee..I hope more positive comments will come as the months pass,..I will be back with an update every two weeks!! Good luck everyone!

Sharon: Just got the prescription today. Haven’t filled it yet – now I don’t know what to do after reading these comments. I just don’t want to go through the side effects mentioned and then gain the weight back after going off.

Sasha: In reading these reviews, it’s not really clear how effective this drug is. For some people, losing ten pounds is a lot relative to their overall weight. For others, not so much. My experience with the drug is that it is effective. I lost 50 pounds in 5 months (from 200 pounds). BUT I have been on this drug before. The key for me is that you need to go onto the 15mg ASAP and once you have reached your goal weight reduce to the 10mg and phase out slowly over time. If you do not, you MAY gain weight just as rapidly AND then some. Ease off the stuff and increase exercise instead. Side effects: dry mouth and slight headache. Worth it, in my view BUT remember ease off the stuff. It’s still a drug!

Marsden: Today is June 9,09 and It has now been 16 days on meridia. I have already lost 5 lbs, Good news, my insurance provider has approved my script for one year. I havent been able to get on the treadmill regularly. I really noticed that I have no cravings for junk food or carbs.. although its tough on weekends I have to plan around temptations. If you just got your script and are wondering if you should try this medication, GO FOR IT! It really helps your appetite and it does make you feel full when you eat a bit.. the side effects for me are very mild and are tolerable. I take a sleeping pill if I absolutely cant get sleep. Not always, Ive only taken one sleep med. I am pleased with the results. I will keep in touch in another two weeks to give an update.

Jeannette: Does anyone have a Hypo thyroid while taking Meridia?

fizz: Have been on meridia now for day 5 and have lost 6 lbs unbelievable….I hope it keeps up I have a long road ahead.

Nicki: Hi Everyone Today us June 10th and I’m about to pick up my Meridia that by the way my insurance HAS covered me (Just wanted to rub that in lol) so I’ll only be paying $40 month. I used Meridia a very long time ago when I was younger and I thought it was great! now a new Mother and was on Mat leave for 1yr it didn’t help. I was one of those women that was running on a treadmill at 6months of my pregnancy in the best shape in my life…. Now I look like Humpty Dumpty (LOL) So I hope now that I’m older and fatter that Merdia will be just as kind to me and work for me .. I will keep you all posted with my progress

Donette: I have been on Meridia for 2 months now and have lost almost 20 lbs. I am a Fitness Instructor and stay very, very active. I have not changed my eating habits but do teach 10 to 12 classes per week (about 1.5 to 2 hrs per day)and do contribute some of the loss to the exercise. I go to pick up my third bottle in the a.m. and plan to change up the eating habits hoping that I can lose 20 more lbs and keep it off! I will say the constipation has been mild and I do seem to have more mood swings than normal… Good luck to all!

Shelli: I have been on Meridia for 3 months, no side effects, have lost 33 pounds. It has been great!

Cindy: did not do a thing for me – not a jitter, not any side effect whatsoever – like swallowing a jelly bean. I have been walking 5 mornings a week, gym 5 evenings a week, 1000 or less calories a day – I am sure this has attributed to what little weight loss I have experienced since I started taking Meridia. I have to pay $130 a month out of pocket — that is a riduclous price for something that isn’t working. It amazes me some people lose 12 – 20 lbs a month and others can’t lose anything!

Denise: I think this all depends on how badly you need to loose weight because of medical problems from obesity. Because of previous abdominal surgeries, I am not eligible for bariatric surgery so Meridia has been great for me. Sometimes the benefits outweigh the risks – at least for me this has been the case. I have a significant amount of weight to loose (100 pounds) so I am not taking this for cosmetic reasons.

diesel: Have been on Meridia 10 mg for 45 days now and have lost 24lbs. Key smaller meals and I walk 30 min 5 days a week. Very overweight, but now I am on my way to really feeling better. Very little side effects.

Katherine: Worked very well for me. I learned that if I think moderation when I eats it helps. I use Herbalife meal shakes & fruits for breakfast & lunch with a moderate evening meal. I was never constipated(2-3 BM daily) because of the shakes. My blood pressure went from 139/90 to 123/74 after 1 month. I brought the pills in Mexico (generic brand). I’m a nurse, so I know how to look for side effects. After 1.5 months, I have lost 18 lbs. At some point, I’m at a standstill, but I continue & the next week I will start to loose. I feel great & I have only 15 lbs. to go!

Alex: I am a 26 male with a BMI of 43. Lost 20 lbs on 10mg/day during 1.5months last summer, but my pressure was 150/80 (vs normal 120/75). I stopped meridia because on anxiety, edginess, and sliplessness… I think if you working in a stressful environment, meridia can agitate all the above affects. Since last summer, for the whol year I did not really watch what I ate and my weight stayed the same. Surprisingly, I did not gain any weight. I am back to meridia this summer for 2 months, lost 30 lbs (50lbs total weight loss on meridia). Strangely, no previous side effects are noted though I am taking it during a school break when I am not stressed. Sleep and anxiety are fine. Constipation is the problem now, have to use laxatives, but I think it is because I am eating too little. I exercise once a week, but I think I really have to modify my life style before I come off from the drug. There is some dependence though. I notice that if I am off the drug, there is quite a bit of hunger so right now I do not know how I will do without it. I plan to come off Meridia in a month.

Sarah: I took Meridia 6 years ago and lost 60 pounds in 4 months. I kept the weight off for at least a year. I have since gained it back and then some due to faults of my own. I am back on Meridia and feeling great. I can’t wait to watch my progress again and this time I have a diet and exercise plan to use afterwards to keep the weight off!

Cathy: Denise…I am with you, I have to loose 100. I am just starting today so see what happens. I took a 10 mg this am, feel a bit light headed but hopefully that will disppear.. Good luck to you and keep me posted, maybe a keeping in touch we can help each other….

Leslie: I have been on 10mg meridia for 2 days, I have loose stools and a dry mouth, but feel okay. I eat very little, tried to eat oatmeal but could not get through the hole bowl. I do workout i have about 50 pounds to loose so wish me luck. Other than dry mouth I have no side effects. But so far i like it, I have no desire to eat junk.

Jim: Very d*ngerous. I spent 6 months on it with some weight loss. I lost the weight because I used fibere powder to help me feel full. The Meridia did that at first but it soon faded. I did not have any trouble “over” eating on the drug also. A N G X I E T Y issues! Even to the point of hilucinations! No get good sleep. Very irratable. Proceed with caution. Please!

Deborah: Gina. I took Phendermine and I am now taking Meridia. The Phendermine worked better, but the side effects were unbelievable. Dry mouth, constipation, ect, but the weight basically fell off. I lost I think around 15lbs in a month. But then I went off of it and the weight came back on. Phendermine is cheaper, a lot cheaper.

concerned: I am concerned after reading most of these posts. I started meridia after watching my niece lose 70lbs. I suggested it to my Dr. because he was trying to get me to have surgery. So far I have lost 10lbs. I don’t have the appetite I once had, I get nauseous at the smell of sweets. I don’t even need sugar in my coffee. I also started excercising again. However, I have noticed that most of the people posting negative comments don’t mention water intake (to combat constipation), changes in types of food consumed, or the most important..excercise. There is no miracle cure! No matter what you take or what diet you try..if you don’t make lifestyle changes it will all only be temporary. Good luck to everyone in any attempts to lose weight. At least we are still trying. =)

mary: High everyone i have been on meridia since august 18 and have lost 16 pounds. i feel great the only side affect is headaches at first but have slightly decreased. i am so excited to have lost that much weight in only 3 1/2 wks. i am on the 5mg so i wasnt sure if it would work at all, but so far so good. i will keep you posted. oh by the way i havent started exercising yet and still lost that much. this product is the greatest thing

kari: Hey there! Just started Meridia today!… I will keep everyone posted with my results! :)

t: been on merida for almost a wk..have no appetite can take a bite of something a put it down…not completely eat the whole thing til im at crumbs,,I go to dr. mon 9/28 will see if i lost any weight..headaches not that bad but do get them..And sometimes I feel anxious but it passes..will keep you posted..

Samantha: Hi. Ive tried this therapy 3 times. First time I was on 75 Kgs and within 3 months I came up to 58 Kgs. I did lot of exercise and a low calorie diet. Some discomfort as usual but if you are an healthy individual you shouldnt experience life threatening symptoms. The second time, after two years I lost less weight, but I have to admit that I ate too much. I know that you get resistant to the drug. The third time I did lost 20 lbs within 3 months, but if you dont keep up with the diet and the activity you will put the weight back and even more very soon! Now Im trying a natural susbtitute (Miredea) I’ve being feeling the same way, similar side effects, Im keeping up the good work and doing as much exercise and diet as I can. Will see how goes.

Christie: I have been on 10mg of Meridia for about a 9 days and have lost 8 lbs. I have not side affects, I have no cravings, nothing! It is awesome! I have tried several diets in my life and this is the best I have ever done. I am eating very healthy, no fast foods or pops, lots of veggies, chicken and fish. It is great!

sandra montanaro: I have been on meridia for 6 days under a doctors care. I have lost 4 pounds effortlessly. However, it has increased my appetite not decreased it. Even thought I am eating more, I am still losing weight. I don’t eat much anyway because I mostly eat fruit, yogurt and vegtables. I’m overweight because of hypothroidism and sleep apnea. Anyway, it works.

Teofila: I have been taking Meridia for 15 days. I have lost 3 pounds. The first week, I experienced dizinees, imsonmia and mild palpitation. These symptoms has decreased since the first week, I continue taking it hoping that I would lose more weight. I would like to give it a chance. My appetite has been suppressed, but I try to eat very small portions even if I am not hungry. I know of a person who lost a lot of weight very fast and has not gained back. So, I guess, it all depends on your metabolism. I am taking the 15 mg. but then I will start with the 10 mg. hoping that it would not make too much of a difference. I went to Mexico for vacation and was able to buy it without a prescription. It is a loooot cheaper over there. Good luck.

jannette: Sandra montanaro – I am hypothroidism too. how much synthroid do you take? I’m on 137mg but they say it’s too high for me, so now i’m going on 125mg, which makes me a bit tired.

Jocelyn: I will be starting Meridia tomorrow and I am very surprised to read so many posts saying this drug didn’t help them lose alot of weight. According to what it says on the package you are only expected to lose up to 4lbs the first month and then it’s 5-8% of your weight in 6 months to year. That was the part that made me NOT want to take it because I was hoping for a magic pill to melt the pounds away. This drug is to be used as enhancement to your weight loss program. It says on the instructions for taking this drug that it is only there to help make things a bit easier while you stick to a reduced calorie diet and an exercise regimen. It states clearly that YOU have to do the WORK and the drug helps you in your efforts. Don’t expect huge results from this little pill because you will be disappointed. Also I’m very concerned reading posts from people who are only 25lbs over weight and others with high bp who are prescribed this medication. Fire your doctor they are negligent! This drug is meant for people who have a BMI of 30 or higher and is great for those who are binge eaters. The seratonin in the drug helps take away cravings for high sugar and high fat foods that happens to overweight people because their body wants to increase those levels of the natural happy drug seratonin. I have trouble with binging big time so I’m hoping this drug will do the trick.

cris: I habe been on meridia for 2 weeks now, on the 2th start with bad stomach pains, constipation( even taking constipation tablets not worked) and start feeling chest pains, one day after the gym I felt shorteness of breath and have to care for fresh air, I m not feeling hungry all the time , but cant pratice any exercice because give me short breath and dry mouth is terrible. I dont know if I should continue finish the box or stop.

Phil in L.A.: I am 50,5′11, had gained 25lbs this year to reach 250lbs. I had multiple problems with foot and back and was headed towards back surgery and knew I was going to be laying around even more than before. I have been on 10mg Meridia for 2 mths now. I had immeadiate results lost 15lbs in first 3 weeks and 10lbs more since with 10 days off Merida for surgery in between. I do notice a craving coming when I stay up late, but that makes sense if I am bored. I just say NO and chew on celery. I don’t want to take a pill very long and am getting what I wanted, a jump start to change my eating habits. I walk 2 times a day a mile each and eat 5 times a day small portions. Cravings are a feeling to control, substitute good choices for bad when having them. Just because I have a craving for s*x doesn’t mean I’ll die if I don’t do it right that moment. Utilize self control, I know you can do it! I will let you know what happens after I go off, and see if wieght loss comes back or if I am losing because I am taking in the right amount of calories to burn.

Worked4Me: I am ending what my doc and I agreed would be a 3-month stint on Meridia and it has generally been very good. I’ve lost nearly 30 pounds and have used it in conjunction with a low-calorie diet and frequent exercise (3-4 x a week). In the first two weeks I did have slight dry mouth and a few days of insomnia while my body adjusted. Now towards the end of my 3 months of use I feel a bit fatigued sometimes but not enough to cause alarm. I read all of these messages about people saying when Meridia “stopped working” for them. This is a drug to jump-start your diet lifestyle change, to help you gain control and reverse your bad eating habits. You can’t take the pill and not make any other adjustments to your diet or exercise lifestyle then expect miracles! I also think this drug works best for people who aren’t taking any other medications. All in all I think the drug works far better than any other on the market and can be a real tool to those committed to taking an honest look at their diet and exercise regiment and changing it for the better. Those looking for the magic pill shouldn’t bother wasting their time or money.

rez teacher: Today is day one of taking Meridia. I am motivate to finally doing something for “me”. I have two children and exercise is usually the last priority. That change started today. After meeting with my doctor yesterday, I knew I wanted to lose 50 pounds. I am tired of my jeans being too tight to zip up. I have already bought my largest size..14 and I do not intend on making this be my size for the rest of my life. So far, I am not hungry and have chosen to make smarter choices in food, finding time to exercise and smacking on healthy foods. The comments posted here have been helpful. Today is a new day. No more excuses! Wish me luck!

mike: I used Meridia for 10 months and lost 100 pounds, ~275 – ~175. I have been off of it for 1.5 years and gained 17 pounds back. I am restarting it today. The choice is always yours in what you eat and how much. I have been doing pretty well controlling my appetite, but I have been eating higher calorie foods more often, and that has contributed to the weight gain. I do not exercise very much. I think if you are serious (and for $100+ a month, you should be), you should learn some things about dieting and nutrition so that you can best utilize the advantage the medication provides you. I was on LA Weight Loss before and had success with them, but not as much as with Meridia. I think it’s a great pill, but you have to listen to your body and eat with your stomach, not your head. Some of you will understand what I mean. Don’t expect the pill to do all the work. Show some self-control, and common sense, and you will be successful. I weighed myself everyday and noticed I would lose for 2 days, maintain or go up a few ounces, then drop more than the gain. It works well, but don’t put all the blame on the pill for not fighting your chocolate indulgences. Sometimes jolting your diet can help knock you off a plateau. Vary your food and eat things you like, just smaller portions of higher calorie foods.

Rosalind: I started 15mg meridia yesterday 1/8/10, I really hope it is a success!!!

stephanie: Just started Meridia today. I am 168lbs and want to lose 40lbs. No side effects yet, scared of that though. It’s only been in my system for 2 hours though.

stephanie: Day 2…still going okay. Really weird, vivid dreams. Forgot to add, on 10mg.

stephanie: So far, so good. Not hungry at all. No side effects, in fact, I feel great! Haven’t weighed myself yet.

Anonymous: I started 10 mg today…took my pill about 30 mins ago and am wondering how my head is going to feel in a bit. I recently took Phentermine and found that it made my head feel so weird and gross that it wasn’t worth it! I hope that this is more tolerable. I need a HUGE change and I am optomistic that this is the jump start I need:-)

stephanie: Love this stuff!!!

Kelley: I took meridia a few years ago and lost 20+ pounds with it, no side effects ever. i did however gain all the weight and more back :(

sandra: I took Meridia 10mg today! tonight I will start walking for 45 minute b4 going to bed! along with healthy eating diet for the next 3 months! I will come back on to tell you how its working by the end of this month! GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Peggy J: My doctor gave me a script for meridia and i couldn’t weight to get it so i could get on the road to lose approx 50lbs for my wedding in October, i am 5′3″ and weight is 178lbs. I was so so disappointed i paid $158.00 for 30 pills @15mg dosage, and nothing at all,,no hunger control , no energy, nothing! i am so upset i tried it for a few days thinking maybe it takes a few days to kick in but still nothing, Please someone tell me did you have this effect? does anyone know of anything that really works, and i know exercise and diet but i am talking something to speed the process a little.I really would be so much happier to wear a size 8 wedding gown instead of wearing size 18. please someone be my angel of hope and bless me with a solution to get this weight off (PS) I still have the remaining script left , so if i should have taken it longer i can always start back up.,,,i hope to hear from someone with a solution to this problem ..oh and by the way my fiance loves me the way i look but “I” am not happy with me and i feel sluggish and so fat all the time,

kk: you have to exercise and completely stay away from bread, muffins, cookies, ice cream, heavy foods. I took meridia the first time and lost 20 necessary pounds…the last form baby weight that wouldn’t come off. It took my desire for breads, mufiins, cookies, cakes away and when the impluse came to indlge in these types of food, the impulse was weak and dismissed – a real first for me. but then I got cocky and started to to a pumpkin slice here, a danish there and that was it, the cravings blow up and the weight just jumped on. I went off the meridia and tried to exercise. Then I gave up and went back to the meridia and have yet been able to exercise – you see I think the exercise and water is a key – because the first time I worked out 3xs a week spinning classes and walked everywhere. This time, I have been able to start yet and the meridia is not working as well. I had some appetite control but like today, I did n’t take it and all I wanted was carbs – bad carbs. I think yo hae to exercise beacue you drink more water and the meridia can help you ride out the high metabolism that comes with exercise and then as you start to loose weight the weakening impulse for carbs really helps. but you don’t get this if you are not exercising and drinking water. I thin the drinking water also helps mitigate the side effects.

John: I took meridia since last few months and lost 20+ pounds with it, no side effects ever. I never face any problem and no issue of he*rt att*ck with this medicines.

Anonymous: started taking meridia 10 dayes fel sleey all day can you take it in the evening?

RB: what is the best online site to get meridia? I doubt I will qualify for a px……I’m concerned about getting a true formulation.

priscilla: I started to take meridia August 2 2010. i weighed in at 181 at drs office. today is august 31 and i weigh at 170. I walk at the park 1.5 to three miles but with busy schedule the last two weeks i really have not got any walking in but i work alot. I noticed it working great…My question is….Can i take Meridia in morning and alli at dinner time

Meridia®

Prescription drugs for weight management support today are available in many shapes, sizes and forms, especially those that are meant to suppress hunger. A medication called Meridia is prescribed to some women and men as an appetite suppressant. It affects certain chemicals found in the body that are linked to weight management regulation, and seems to be billed for short term weight loss support when paired with a balanced wellness plan.

 Ingredients
The generic name of the drug is Sibutramine, and some of its other trade names may include Ectiva and Reductil. It is typically administered orally as tablets for appetite reduction as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, as well as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. According to some reports, Meridia may have a mechanism similar to certain types of antidepressants, though it does not appear to have been shown to have any antidepressant properties in studies.

 Qualities
Manufactured by a pharmaceutical company called Abbott Laboratories, the generic version of this drug is believed to limit the reuptake of such chemicals as serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. This apparently promotes satiety and a feeling of fullness. It has been reported that Meridia has a low potential for abuse because it does not have as great an effect on dopamine as on the other chemicals.

 Price
Since Meridia is a pharmaceutical grade drug, women and men may not be able to purchase the product over the counter in the U.S. It is currently available only through a prescription from a physician, and as such, the cost may vary from person to person. The individual’s prescription coverage plan and other benefits may come into play here; for some the drug may be free of charge, while others may have to pay full price for the medication.

 Final Facts
Meridia is considered one of the better known prescription drugs for weight loss support in today’s marketplace of pharmaceutical products, especially for its reported appetite-suppression properties. Dieters who have not responded well to traditional supplements and other natural interventions appear to be listed as prime candidates for such medications, according to some online reports. The drug also appears to be featured on some diet rating sites on the Web. More information on Meridia can be found by visiting the official website.
