Contrary to what they're claiming on the site, I managed to lose 70 lbs over eight months on a calorie controlled diet. Then I had a few Christmas hangover pounds I wanted to shed quickly, so I figured I try the Fatloss 4 Idiots thing. I stuck to it religiously and gained weight, despite daily workouts. Worse, there's a serious lack of fresh fruit and fiber in this diet, but they clobber you with protein. Not healthy! Save your money and do it the old-fashioned hard way--that's definitely the lesson I've learned.

Marl: Well all you doubting Thomas and thomasinas Fatloss4idiots has worked for me. I've tried every diet going since I stopped smoking and put on 2st. I lost 8lbs the first week, then went on holiday and didn't put it back on. Lots of exercise mind you. Now doing the "Beyond Calories" eating 6 meals a day and the weight is just dropping off - around 2/3lb a day!! I am one happy bunny and my husband is even happier!!

By the way there is a 30 day money back guarantee.And I just joined today and have had 3 emails from them.Everything on the lists are healthy so I can't see how you are stating it to be a unhealthy diet, when the fact of the matter is that you had to have been eating a unhealthy diet in the first place to have gained the weught you are trying to get rid of. Laura: I found that it did work. It isn't exactly a book..it is just usefull information and takes about 15 minutes to read. What I did was generate about 6 different menues and went through all of them. One in particular I lost 8 pounds on in the 11 days. I have lost a total of 70 pounds in almost a year. You can get bored with some of the meals....but if you keep changing your menu...it will work.

This is July 9th and I have lost 17 pounds so far. I am really happy with this diet. Believe me I have tried many diets and many pills. I didn't lose 9 pounds the first time but I did lose 4.5 pounds and I was happy to lose anything. I don't get bored because I can change my diet every 11 days and have 3 cheat days. But what happened for me is my metabolism went haywire with the "calorie shifting" esp. since i wans't eating low fat or low carb foods. The truth is my metabloism doesn't just "adjust" when i eat more food. When i eat more,. I get fatter. And that is just what happened on this diet. shifting around did not trick my body. Within the first 11 days i had gained, not lost, 6 lbs., and then over the following month i gained another 23 lbs. This brought me up to almost 30 lbs of weight gain within a relatively short periood of time. I still can't get my metabolism to bounce back from this. I visited a nutritionist and she told me this diet is horrible, it's messing with your body by playing "feast or famine" and their's nothing healthy about it. she is advising me now on a real, sensible diet. I hope i can lose what i gained on this.

Heather: I am currently on this diet. The information makes sense when you read the online book. This diet is fool proof. It you can follow these simple steps, you WILL lose weight. I have been on this diet for two days (I'm on my 3rd day now) and have lost 4.5 lbs already. The key to this diet is eating 4 meals per day. When you consume your meals, you have to know when to stop eating. You eat until you are satisfied, NOT STUFFED! You will lose weight if you follow this plan EXACTLY!!!!! Excercise is important, and it tells you what kind of excercise burns fat, not carbs and calories.

bob manning: I have been using this diet plan (with modifications for heart health) since January, on and off, maybe 6 times for the 11 day program and have lost over 50 pounds. I find it goofy and fun, easy to use and quite satisfying. It is great to see a pound go away every day. It works! Just DO it. The "idiot" word is not insulting the dieter, It is saying anybody can follow the program.

Renee: My problem was not with the difficulty of the program (it is quite simple actually) but with the fact that I was not loosing much wiehgt on Fat Loss 4 Idiots. I was eating more than normal by tryng to follow the diet plan and not getting results. I don't see how this could work for anyone, even with exercise, all I really did was maintain my (over)weight body. not worth it.

Jackie: It is now 9/30/08 and my husband and I have been on this diet since the middle of July. I have lost 32 pounds and my husband has lost 50 (the fink). There are actually 2 diets in this online book. I have used the diet generator, which is for quick weight loss. You click on the generator and you pick foods that you like from 2 lists. It then generates the diet for you. You are on this diet for 11 days and then off for 3 days. After that you go back on and generate another diet. You eat four meals a day and you only eat enough at each meal so that you are satisfied but not full. Another thing, my husband and I have barely exercised at all on this diet and yet we have still lost weight.

Danika: Well I just completed 11 days on the diet so far and am in my "off" time. However i am disappointed that i have not lost the 9 lbs I was hoping to get off by now. The diet itself is easier to follow than I expected it to be, but for the MAYBE 1/2 lb I lost in the past eleven days, it hardly seems worth it. larina: Those of you taking advice from most of these thumbs down people are not doing a good job of research because you're taking advice from people who have never even tried it and really don't know. Everyone around me is on this diet. Two good friends of ours have lost over 80 lbs each in about a years time. They were people who use to eat out for breakfast lunch and dinner. They just have a different lifestyle now with this diet. My husband & I will be starting our 4th round now and we are both still excited. When I am excercising and keeping busy I lose 1 lb every day and when i am not doing anything i lose about 3-4 lbs in that 11 day cycle. My first 11 days i lost 6 lbs, my husband lost 18 and my sister-in-law lost 10 and my mother-in-law lost 4. Even though were all eating the same foods the same days everybodys results will be different. It just really depends on each individual, but I will highly recommend this product for everyone to give it a try. Exercise always helps and lots of water is very important! I have lost a total of 20 lbs in 2 months! :)

trish: I have a different and positive experience. I used Fat Loss for Idiots and was never hungry. Did the 11 days and lost 10 pounds. Simple, cheap and easy. Took the break and then did the 2nd cycle. Lost another 6 pounds. Seemed to work just great for me. I had previously used LA Weight Loss and found that program much tougher, although I did lose 15 lbs it took me 8 months. Gained it all back this past summer + more. Fat Loss for Idiots has me feeling good again and it worked for me. Plus it is way cheaper. I spent more than $1,000 at LA Weight Loss and the consultants were useless.

zoe: i had the same experience as someone earlier: i simply didn't lose any weight on Fat Loss 4 Idiots. I didn't gain weight, i just stayed precisely the same. My food cravings were still pretty bad, but i stuck to the diet. Yet there was nothing at the end of the road. I think I'm going to look into something to control my snacking and to ramp up my metabolism a bit.

Thomas: It seems like Fat Loss 4 Idiots is getting a bad rap here--mostly by people who HAVEN'T EVEN TRIED IT YET! I am using this diet right now and so far it's working. I lost 8.5 pounds in those first 11 days and am finishing up my second 11-day period. I feel better and haven't been required to do a whole lot of exercise to lose the weight. The food plans generated are kind of boring and repititious, but the 3-day "break" sure helps. I have never spent less for a diet plan than I did on this one and my grocery bills are less than before. And this diet is so structured and easy to follow. So don't knock it until you've tried it. I can't wait to weigh myself again to see how much MORE I've lost! Fat Loss 4 Idiots gets a "thumbs up" from me!

I was actually liking the diet OK (although I was getting out of control during my "breaks") until i read your post. Now I am starting to think that this is some sort of weird cult where people like you try to sell people on the diet, and go on the attack against people like me who are just trying to lose weight. Anyway, I don't think this is the worst diet in the world...however, i did just order an appetite suppressant (HOodia P57) to help me not go crazy on my 3 days "off" of the diet. I wish the food plans were a bit more exciting but it is a diet, so that's ok I guess. But thomas. You should probably be a bit more careful about accusations you just throw out there. geez.

Shelly: This diet actually works for me, when I'm consistent. It's a little difficult to stick with it and then I have to start my 11 days over again. But this isn't easy. I honestly couldn't believe how fast results were happening. I step on the scale one day, and the next I am literally almost a whole pound lighter. Liz: Well I dunno what I'm doing wrong...I did one cycle of Fat Loss 4 Idiots, lost 2 lbs. TOok break, did another cycle,a nd lost a whole 1.5 lbs. I think Robyn has a good idea about the appetite suppressant, this diet just didn't work for me at all.

Lili: I tried the "fat loss 4 idiots" diet and I did not loose 9 pounds in 11 days as stated, I lost about 8, close enough. It was not hard to do for 11 days and most important, I was not hungry all the time. They provide several 11-day-menues however, I found it very dificult to stick to the food in the menus for more than 11 days and it is hard to get your carbs, fiber and all in order on your own. As any other diet program if you don't continue with it, you gain the weight back very soon. I now use it as a quick fix when I want to loss a couple of pounds for a special occasion. I would not recommend this diet to someone that is serious about changing their eating habits and life style.

Tamara: I've been using it since June and have lost over 40lbs. I have found it easy and fun - especially the 3 cheat days! Everyone has noticed and my Doctor is very impressed. Although I did lose 9.5lbs in the first 11 days, it has slowed down significantly as I get closer to my goal. I am about 15lbs away from where I want to be and it's very slow at this point, but some of that is also my fault. I have been skipping meals and not drinking enough water. And even though it says you don't have to exercise, it is better if you do, and of late, I haven't. But seriously, I recommend this diet to everyone. It takes the guesswork out of 'what to have for lunch/dinner today'. Go for it!!!

rhonda j.: well i AM losing weight with Fat Loss 4 Idiots but it is not that fast at all. Its taken me 3 months to lose 9 lbs! I started in August and have been doing everything right, and enjoy the diet. I;m gonna stay with it because, it is working, just a LOT slower than expected.

Darlene: Totally agree with what was said above - Fat loss 4 Idiots is nothing but a quick fix, its not permanent at all. I lost only 6 lbs in 11 days and then went through several more cycles, only losing 13 lbs total, in about 4 months. I stopped and have regained 3 of those lbs, but am very hesitant to go back on the plan, since it was so slow. I just ordered a fat burner, called Miracleburn, I am convinced, after reading the reviews & seeing the ratings, that's the way to go now.

Terry: Have tried the diet several times, and has worked for me. It really requires you follow the diet regarding drinking lots of water, but the weight does come off. The nurse at my cardiologist office recommended it. I also walk 30-45 minutes a few times a week. Good luck

lovely: Hi everyone, I must give a thumbs up for this diet, since it truly has worked for me. I started this diet about 14 months ago and was very excited about it, since the results was phenominal!! In total i have lost 75lbs. Of late since my return from a cruise in september i have not gotten back on track per say. But my weight is more or less around the same. I am trying to loose another 15lbs and then maintain that. I am trying to be strict with myself and follow the diet as i should so that i can see results in the next 2 months hopefully. I recommend giving this diet a fair try.

Violet: I have done the Fat loss 4 Idiots for about 5 months and have lost about 9lbs total which for me was a record. I took a break a couple of month ago after a car accident (I am okay, just broke a few bones), I had to stay in bed for about a month and almost gained all the weight back. while in bed I read a copy of the south beach diet and it made so much sense to me. I started doing it 2 weeks ago, I am still on phase one and the pounds are just melting and I am eating delicious food at each meal. I miss pasta but I will start eating them in phase 2. In conclusion when you don't know better Fat loss 4 idiots works short term.

John: I can't believe this has almost twice as many thumbs down as thumbs up, I never thought I'd lose this weight but after reading so many testimonials in comments of independent sites I tried it and lost the 9lb the first go round and am going for another (and another, and another...) 11 day run. The food takes less time to prepare than eating normally did, it is tasty and not as expensive as many plans to implement. I like that it works without exercise, I'll exercise when I lose the weight to keep from putting it on again but don't see the point in a diet that only works if you exercise (which really worked?). I had ruled this diet out years ago due to the tacky site design, sure wish I hadn't! I'd also have to note that if i lost weight much more slowly than 9lb a week (such as the oft quoted 2lb's) I would give up long before any weight came off, hell my weight varies by pounds over the course of a day so a 2lb a week loss would take a 3-5 weeks before I'd have and solid assurance it even worked! But with this I'm not starving myself or staying away from a single macro nutrient type. Give this a try, it sure worked for me and from my research it seems to work for the vast majority.

Shelly: FatLoss4Idiots didn't provide nearly enough guidance for someone like me who was out of control with my eating. Maybe this diet is good for people who have a lot of discipline in the first place, but for me a diet that is NOT a) low calorie, b.) low fat, or c.) low carb, and requires no exercise? Well, that's pretty much what I hvae been doing all my life, and what did that get me?? Weighting 210 lbs at 5'3" thats what. I dont think this program has a grasp of the fact that for people who have problems CONTROLLING themsleves, there is a need for some sort of rules to reign them in. This is just about combining certain foods, but its really not clear to me what the logic of it is. I want a diet that i can implement and understand for life. This wasn't it, this is just anarchy. I think I'm going to try the South Beach diet too, along with some Hoodia caps.

bamajean: Hi, all! I tarted using this diet plan on August 13, 2007. To date, I've lost 40 lbs. At the moment, I've hit a plateau, but, starting with the new year, will return to strictly following the diet again, and loose my remaining 20 lbs. The 11 day system works well for my husband and me. He eats what he wants during the 11 days, then on alternate weekends, my 3 days off diet, we go out for dinner, or he cooks at home. I've maintained this weight for a year and 1/4. I'm happy with it. Some people have a problem with the somewhat odd food combinations,but I've not been hungry and keep satisfied. IT'S WORKED WELL FOR ME!

miranda: unfortunately i have enjoyed the 3 days off too much...i think the eating i have done on those days have pretty much reversed my progress on the 11 day system. i think the weird food combining during the 11 day period is not satisfying to me or something, because once i get my days off i tend to go off the deep end with my eating. So basically, i take two steps forward and 3 steps back with Fat Loss 4 Idiots. It makes me understand why they chose this name...i feel like a real idiot on this.

grace: sorry but i think Fat Loss4 Idiots doesn't control fat, calories or carbs enough to make me lose my weight (60 lbs need to go!). i tried this and it didn't bother me particularly (preparing the meals was a bit hi maintenance but i am willing to do that) but the bottom line was i didn't loose weight. It is not a diet plan but a lifestyle change. Karin: This diet was recommended to me by someone who has lost over 80 lbs in the past 5 months. I started it just 9 days ago and have lost 10 lbs. I do like the food, I've learned to eat very small portions and don't get hungry, which seems to be crucial for the diet to work. I'm just curious what the 3 cheat days will bring, and again, I think it is important not to overeat on those days.

I don't recommend it...I felt quite hungry and deprived, which was why it didn't work in the first place.

lg: I tried this diet after some of my friends had been on it and I lost the weight just like it said. I then made my husband try it and he really liked it and he lost the weight. The only thing I didn't like was trying to get the menu to exactly the foods I wanted. I got tired of eating omlets really fast. hockeybag: I have admit, I downloaded the Diet Calculator. I have been plateaued for over 2 months, so I thought I'd try something different. I agree with the 4 meals per day (even 5 meals per day) and that you shouldn't overeat at any meal. I just completed day 3 and have lost 2.5 pounds! I'm crossing my fingers that at the end of the 11 days, I don't put that back on! BTW, I do exercise everyday.

Brenda: Fat Loss 4Idiots is based on a vicious cycle of deprivation and indulgence, it encourages a too strict regimen during the "diet" cycle and then over-eating during the "cheat" part. That's why so many people have trouble with this..it makes food seem "bad," and it basically goes on a system of reward and punishment. If you punish yourself with the strict diet part, you are rewarded with a cheat. And what is that reward? FOOD. This keeps the whole vicious cycle alive, it teaches people that in order to diet you have to suffer. It is human nature to want to rebel against that by cheating! Thank goodness now i am on a sane, sensible 1,200 calorie diet and a good Hoodia supplement (hoodia P57). good riddance to Fat Loss 4Idiots!

jammer: I've been using this program since the middle to the end of summer and I have lost 50 pounds so far, with very little extra walking and cardio. If you follow the program, without cheating until your cheat days, you'll have good results. I think the best thing it offers me is a structure that doesn't cost $300.00 to use. They do not have customer service, but I have found very good support from other users at a fatloss for idiots forum. I have been historically stupid aobut how to loose weight-- so I guess I don't mind the title. I just know it works for me and I'm feeling significantly better about the eating choices I've made-- without breaking my family's budget.

Larry: Bought this diet and lost 15 pounds the first 11 days.Did not use the 3 cheat days instead i am 1/2 way through the 2nd menu and have lost 5 more pounds.This is the easiest diet i have ever tried.I am finding myself eating less as i go on. It is hard to give up rice,pasta,pizza,hambugers and bread but when the cheat days come up those foods taste especially good. trina: i guess I am a little bit flaky, and i need a lot of structure and stability in my life. the whole 'calorie shifting' thing of Fat Loss 4 Idiots just made me feel like i was on a crazy roller coaster, and eventually i just spun out of control. i ended up gaining 14 lbs after being on this diet. I need consistency, so this just does not fit my personality type.

paula: It works. I'm 60 years old, and gained a lot of weight after cancer surgery which left me unable to walk. My girlfriend, also 60, recommended this diet after she lost 50 pounds in about 8 months. I tried it, found it easy and pleasant to use. I lost 25 pounds in 3 months. As I lost wieght, my girlfriend gave me her "hand me down" clothes in smaller and smaller sizes. I liked that! The DOWNSIDES: 1.)It's expensive because I have to buy foods I wouldn't normally eat. 2.) I gained weight when I went off it for holidays. 3.) I'm not sure that I will be able to maintain when I'm finally thru. 4.) I wish I could know who created and promotes this diet. I'd like to know more about the SAFETY of this type eating. The UPSIDES: 1.) It works! I simply ate and the weight went away. 2.) I had soon lost enough that I began running (well, jogging)--just because I felt like it. Sadie: WEll, first of all, Ihate the name, Fat Loss for Idiots, isn't this sort fo stealing from all those Dummy books? YOu know, all those Computeres for Dummies, those books? I've been following the diet and using HoodiaP57 along with it, to keep me on track with the foods. Especially on my cheating days, this keeps me from overdoing it. It all makes sense, its just you know, sometimes those cravigns get the better of me.

But then I found the Fat Loss 4 Idiots and the weight came off slowly the first 11 days but fast the second 11 days. I like the diet generator because it lets you choose the foods you like. If you choose the foods you like, it will be much easier to follow. I've read the negatives and the positives but to me, its all about self-control. I've tried every diet there was and this one was much easier to follow and I did lose weight. I started January 15 2007 and was weighing 296 pounds. It is now March 1, 2009 and I have lost 105 pounds. My goal is 160lbs. For all of you that's using the program, please stick to it even though you may hit a plateau, it will start up again. Just take a week off like I did and it will jump start again. I tried the South Beach Diet and it did not work for me at all!

JoAnne: Mabye its really not for everyone, even though it sounds like it should be. On my first cycle on Fat Loss 4 Idiots, I lost 1 lb. The second round, another lb. THe third time, nothng. THe FOURTH time, 2 lbs. I just got really really frusterated. I don't know WHY this did not work for me, since it clearly has worked fine for others. Lukas: It seems odd that many people on this website comment on the diet without having tried it. I am on day 9 and have lost 10.6 pounds (as measured first thing in the morning). I have used this system before and it has always worked extremely well. The negatives are that the diet is monotonous (far too much protein) and the fatloss for idiots website is dishonest in stating that it is not a low carb diet - it definitely is. Also, given how slowly actual fat (as opposed to weight, which can be water weight or lean tissue) is lost, I feared that my body fat percentage would shoot up. Oddly, it has not, which means I must have lost a lot of fat or my body fat monitor is playing up. I have also not exercised, but that was out of necessity (very long hours at work), exercise is definitely key to a healthy diet and lifestyle, and the fatloss for idiots website should emphasize that rather than trying to pander to the vast market of lazy people out there. All in all though - and as I said, I am not using this diet for the first time - I must say that while it sounds really wrong, it actually works for me.

I lost a few lbs every cycle, but not as much as they promise. My goal was to try to keep on the program until I'd lost 42 lbs but after about 2 months, I was only down 7 lbs. And very frustrated. I also agree, the foods are vERY boring and I ended up resorting to a diet pill (which I was origially hesitant to do) The reviews, for SLim 10 were really positive so I thought, hey, if I can eat balanced meals and lose, I;'m gonna try it. So far, one monh and 9 lbs, better than the Idiots plan at least for me, everyone is different.

lostdesertgirl: Fatloss 4 Idiots - Any website that doesn't list an address, telephone number and contact person sends up a big red flag. They've got something to hide. That's why they begin by cutting down other diet's. They can't rest on their own laurels. It's a SCAM. Save your money. Go to Borders or your local book store, or better yet the library and check out a book to read about reasonable diets. Or talk to your doctor. Dieting is simple. Recently in Oprah it was listed that the highest rated diet of all was the low carb and after ten years people were keeping 20 pounds of weight off. oh, and they are stating they are selling it for half price, even on some sites that it is selling for $20, but it isn't, it is $40. What a rip-off. $40 for something that takes 15 minutes to read, and u put a week of cartoon menus in. For those of u that actually spent money on this scam already, that's a bummer. For those of u that feel compelled to try it out, at very least use ur Mastercard or Visa, that way if this SCAM of a company won't give ur money back, u just call up ur CC company, tell them, and they will give u a credit on ur card. I've done it several times. What a good feeling that gives me! :-) And when the scammer does this to several people... they actually LOSE their credit card privileges!!! Sue D: Very simple diet, hence, the name (which is a joke just like all those other "...for Idiots" books Example: Excel for Dummies). You choose from a list of foods, only what you like to eat and they generate a menu based on their theory. You follow it for 11 days and then you're off for 3 days. I lost 6 lbs. during the first 11 days and am now into my 2nd 11 day set already losing 2 more lbs. It's easy, I'm never hungry, and I know in a few days I'll be able to be off for 3 days and eat some of the things I like before going back on it again. I am eating meat, fish, dairy, fresh fruits and vegetables. I am not eating rice, pasta, bread or empty calorie sweets and for the very first time ever on any diet not missing them! They recommend walking and light exercise while losing weight and stress that you be very aware of how full you are getting when eating. You must eat until satisfied but not stuffed. I have 2 friends also on the diet and both are getting good results as well. Everyone is different and this diet will not be right for every person but it works for me!

Judith: WOW This has really worked for me!!! I"m 63, with arthritis of the spine and knees and neuropathy in my feet. so my exercise is just daily getting around. BUT I have lost over 50 pounds and so has my husband. We do our 11 days on the diet about twice a month. We always loose weight and usually 9-11 pounds each time. Yes, we will gain some back on the cheat days especially if our cheat days last more than 3 days and if we eat pizza & cookies all the time. When my husband is uninterested or I only have a few days before something BIG is happening that I know I will have to cheat, I follow the BASIC rules .... NO FLOUR, SUGAR, RICE, CORN OR POTATOES ..... FRESH FRUITS & VEGETABLES .... LEAN PROTEIN .... 4 MEALS A DAY .... STOP EATING BEFORE YOU ARE FULL. I never gain & I loose a few pounds. Then when we have 11 days for NO CHEATING in our calendar we start again. It took us 40 years of yo yo dieting to gain 100 pounds, but it will be gone in 2!! IT WILL BE WORTH EATING GOOD TO GET THAT WAY & we plan to keep it off. DON'T say it doesn't work without trying it ... and I mean really DO it!!!

Pat: I was not all insulted with the name. We all buy "Dummy" books to learn things, why not an Idiot book to lose weight. I lost 30 pounds with three 11-day diets. I gained ten back and I am now trying to get rid of that and then more. I lost 7 pounds in 10 days. Tomorrow is my last day and then the 3 days of "cheating". You would be an idiot if you stuff yourself in those three days and think you are going to keep the weight off. I still follow the basics during the three days of cheating. I get a Weight Watchers Dessert for my treat each day. I saw one person complain about eating cottage cheese. The diet gives you enough choices that you don't have to choose cottage cheese. You need to choose things you like to eat. I am 59 years old, very hard to lose weight with slower metabolism. This is the best diet of have ever been on as far as quick weight loss. It gives a great jump start and then switch over to Weight Watchers and you will still lose but at a slower rate. I also like the idea of one glass of wine a day. If you like chardonnay and it is a day allowing strawberries, cut the strawberries up and put it in the chardonnay. Some complain they are hungry. The diet does not limit you to what you eat, just that you don't get full. You can eat until you are not hungry anymore and then in 2-1/2 hours you can eat again. I always choose the nuts when making up the diet. I love peanuts and cashews. This is another real treat. I also enjoy shrimp and that is on the diet a few times during the 11 days. Just bake the shrimp - or chicken - with Adobo and it is pretty tasty. Again, great with a glass of chardonnay. As far as the cost goes, I just have one 11-day diet that I put together and it works for me and I will just stick to that and it was worth the money because other diets cost a lot more and do not get the quick results.

debbie: For 1st 11 days all went well and 17 lbs dropped off. The 2nd 11 days I was sick, weak, and weight loss stopped almost completely. I couldn't face another week of it. Phone or email customer support is non existent and I am not a happy customer.
