Panache: I’m hooked on watching the Biggest Loser, and I can’t believe the amount of weight those people have lost, like 52 pounds in 6 weeks! And they just exercise like crazy, and follow a careful diet plan, and that’s what I’m going to do, too, I think the Fat Flush Plan is too hard.

Malibu Princess: Is this a cleanse? Or a diet? Or both? Do you have to buy everything separately, or is there a kit that will give me everything I need?

I just feel like I need to detoxify, I feel gross. Then I can start from a good place to watch what I eat.

laura: well, I am not anti-cleansing per se, but I just don’t think Fat Flush is a good or real cleanse. For me it was harsh and too “laxative” and i didn’t get any of the benefits that were advertised.

christine: this plan is basically just psyllium husks, which you can get in Metamucil. There is nothing special about Fat Flush.

Mel: Yeah it is a book too. But she also sells a Fat Flush kit to go with it.

Daria: How much weight can you even expect to lose with Fat Flush?

beth: no, Fat Flush is a book all right…a book that’s all about cleansing. I think some folks on here might be a tad confused about that. But the book recommends drinkning this “long life” cocktail which is essentially a fancy laxative w/cranberry juice. Ick. I got nothing out of this book.

antionette: With the Fat Flush plan, i lost a bit of weight which was water/bulk weight, but i gained it ALL back again once i was done with this. it also has a lot of weird rules like “no milk with meat” and “no water with meals.” I thought water was suppsoed to be good? This did a whole lot of nothing for me.

Linda: I joined the forum when I got the Fat Flush kit and those people sound just scary. I just could not share anything with them. I like this blog much better. They were all so defensive about the Plan, as if I was doing it wrong because it was not working for me. The problem is that I was really expecting big changes with the plan but it’s really not worth the trouble. I had better luck with Weight watchers years ago.

cathy: There is very little evidence in Ms. Gittelman’s book “The Fat Flush Plan” to support her extreme plan of restricted calories, reduced carbs and constant laxatives. A decent cleanse now and again makes sense for some people, but this diet practically induces daily purgation in the form of psyllium. It is ridiculous, and I think possibly harmful, and ineffective long term.

val: I tried very hard to stick with Fat Flush Plan but i just felt dehydrated and exhausted much of the time. You NEED decent amoutns of food and water to feel healthy!

Tia: Do you need to get the Fat Flush kit if you follow the plan or can you do just one? I don’t know too much about it, but flushng fat sounds good.

Cindy: I lost 15 pounds and my husband lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks when we started Fat Flush last January. I lost most of the cellulite on my rear and legs also. I’ve been on phase 3 for 9 months now, avoiding wheat which the fat flush helped me identify as a food I’m sensitive to and most dairy products. I feel a lot better and younger. I’m in my 40’s so maybe that’s part of it. I’ve done Weight Watchers but I like this much better! I’m smaller than I’ve been in a long time! My husband who is 6′1″ also likes this plan. We have smoothies for snacks and he says he’s satisfied and not hungry at all.

nicole: Well, i guess i’m not prepared to give up wheat and dairy, (i am not allergic to those foods) i would rather do a plan where i can eat all food groups in moderation. This just makes a lot more sense to me than a diet that cuts out whole food groups and forces unnatural bowle movements through laxatives. Fat Flush, as far as i can tell, is well-known as a Fad Diet. It should be called “Fad Flush” if you ask me. I don’t even see how it could hold a candle to a real diet like weight watchers. jenn: I bought the book when it first came out 6 years ago. I love this plan! It is strict, but if you truly stick to it and read all the supportive material it is easier and really works! I just started it again after having 2 babies and in 5 days I have lost 10+ lbs! whoo hoo!!

darlene: a few years ago i did the fat flush and thought it was okay. i am always experimenting with cleanses and the next tim i did a cleanse i used CleanseRx supplements. It was a lot gentler, less restrictive of a plan, and actaually “flushed” more fat/toxins out of me, the weight loss was faster, more, and it never came back. i think that the fat flush can work to a degree, if you really stick with it, but if you want something guaranteed, with less room for “dieter error” I say get the cleanseRx.

rosemary: * FatFlush * I thought this was going to be an answer with helping me to loose weight. I have not seen one pound lost! I paid a lot of money and I see no results. I dont even know if I am doing it right. Is anyone having the same problem??

Ilona: The Fat Flush Plan is great. First you have to really read the book. If you follow it, the way you are supposed to, you will see results. It is not that complicated once you understand the program. Had great success and made a change for life. Never felt better.

suzanne: The Fat Flush plan isnt really a plan at all, it’s just a starvation diet combined with laxatives. i am not on board with eliminating dairy, either, bcs the probiotics in yogurt are good for my digestive system. THis just seems to not be very well thought out, and not for the long haul. Sorry.

Dee: I recommend Fat Flush.. it worked for me. And I did not find it that hard. When people talk about how restrictive it was I have to wonder what you were eating before the plan. I found it easy to select from several items. It may it easy to choose my meals. Have you ever read the ingredients in the Weight Watchers etc pre-packaged foods. I find reading the above that alot of people really did not read the book, but merely quickly skimmed the pages and decided it wasn’t for them. I hate to break it to you but every plan even the biggest loser takes work, constant work, for the rest of your life work, and if you can’t commit to that then there isn’t a diet plan in the world that will help you.

Alison: I disagree, you can loose weight without feeling like you are punishing yourself. I am discovering that with the south beach diet. I eat delicious food for each of my meals and can eat until I am full and are still loosing weight. I didn’t feel the same way on Fat Flush that’s why I switched. I have learned that dieting does not have to be painful.

Susie: Wow..I cant believe the negative comments about the fat flush program..it is certainly not a ’starvation diet’ and if you are at all motivated it can be done..but if you cant give up jalapeno poppers and the crap that is junk for your body then what can you realistically expect? No pill is going to be healthy..there is no easy way but I know that this works as I started on it 5 yrs ago, lost 50 lbs and have maintained that without weight gain..I feel so refreshed, clear and focused and there is no way I am going to go back to not doing what is right for my body..I didnt just lose alot of weight, it changed my life in positive ways that I had not even expected. Dont buy into the negative reviews and at least try it and have the willpower to follow through!

Katrina: Ok so I read the book i followed the Fat FLush Plan and all that happened was I lost 2 lbs. THe rest of the weight wouldn’t budge.I know I did it all right..don’t know why it didn’t work. I’m signing up for Jillian Michaels program now, hopefuly that will go better for me.

cindi: I have no idea what some of you are referring to when you speak of laxatives! There are NO laxatives on Fat Flush! I see no major difference in my eating except for the decrease in carbs. So what? Adkins is the same. I have lost weight and the supplements are fabulous. I feel great and am losing weight at a safe pace. I have more energy and sleep much better since starting this diet.

Tom: I think people are down on this diet because it takes a little work. It’s not a quick fix pill, it’s a lifestyle change. In all honesty the reason we got fat in the first place was because of our lifestyles, so it makes sense to me to make a change. Pills only work temporarily and this diet teaches you and molds you into eating more responsibly.

Lynne: this is not a diet but a life style change which is really the only thing that works any way. I lost 25lbs in short order (one month) and it came from my abdomin, hips, and thighs. there is a science to why this works and it does. it just requires some restraint but, it certainly is worth it. the book is hard to read and requires that you read it all and understand it for it to work. You have to decide whats important in your life and then take action

Dani: I use the fat flush every spring. I lost 30 pounds the first time. Of course you need to cleanse your body of jelly doughnuts and chips, if you continue to eat that stuff, you don’t want to be healthy. It is only a 2 week start, you can do anything for 2 weeks, especially when you see your skin clearing up and your body shrinking. Many of my coworkers asked for my secret and at least 2 of them have lost around 20 pounds each. The fat flush really did work for me.

I love it and yes it might be hard for those that are use to grab and go food. But it works well, and I have hardly any cellulite even now, and am getting back on the bandwagon. I think I am allergic to wheat and gluten so this is perfect.

Laurie: If you are the kind of person who just wants to take a pill and not put a little effort into eating healthy & cleansing your whole body (this is NOT a colon cleanse), then this is not the diet for you. I totally agree with the other positive votes – if you really read the book you will see that the first 2 weeks are necessary to cleanse the garbage out of your body. Processed foods & junk are things you shouldn’t be eating anyway! I’ve done this a couple times when my husband & I start to feel like we need to lose a few pounds and it’s great. We have lots of energy and feel really good. If you don’t do the diet, the book is worth reading just to learn what certain foods do to contribute to weight gain (like yeast!). Good luck!

jayzona: I haven’t been a habitual dieter all my live but went on this diet a few years ago after having my first child. To me the book was very logical and has taught me the way to an overall healthy lifestyle. Anytime the weight creeps back up I just go back on the diet for a couple of days. The weight has stayed off even after having more children and getting older and living a less active lifestyle. I did a lot of research before chosing this diet and am very glad I did.

Lynda: I have just finished reading the blogs above. Although I have not yet started (except for drinking the cran-water), I am nearly finished reading the Fat Flush Plan book. I would just like to state that this book makes so much sense. It surely does not seem (even on the restrictive 1st 2 weeks) as if your appetite will be suffering. There is plenty of nutrious and filling foods in those mini-menus. I am just wondering how I will be able to fit all that food in. The positive commentors have a point when they say that you must read the book to understand how and why this plan would work. My comment to Phyllis is…perservere with the plan. The book does state that, during the first 4 or 5 days, you may experience some negative symptoms, such as feeling tired or having a headache. Remember that you bad habits (unhealthy eating) die hard. This is a start of detoxifying, so naturally your body will react to the expulsion of toxins. Kinda like an exorcism (of bad food demons). Once your body has ejected most of it, your energy will rise and you should begin to see results. Like I said, I have yet to start the program, but just by reading the book I am already seeing results. I am more conscious now of what foods and beverages I reach for. I wish the Best to all who decide to give this plan a chance.

Ena: i just started on this Fat Flush two months ago, so far i have lost 21 lbs and am still losing. there is a fair amount of work to preparing the meals but, for me, it is well worth it. i am 66 years old and have tried almost every diet out there. this is the only program that i have tried that i am not feeling hungry on.i read the book almost everyday to find out if i am forgetting something and if i am, i adjust . i feel great and recommend the plan .

Diana: My friend went off and on for 3 months and lost 30lbs on the fat flush diet. So I had to try it, if she can do it so can I. Wrong! She’s more discipline than I am. It is HARD! the first couple of days i lost 4 lbs. I wasn’t hungry, I just failed to plan, it will work. There are many good plans,it’s just finding the plan that works best for you. This plan does work. I like the grounded flax seed better than the phyllum for the cocktail, but not when i first tried it.

Trish: Lost 10 pounds in one week, take some efforts to plan the week but it works if you understand it…working on the next 10 this week..stick to it ..it really works

Kelly: The Fat Flush plan is nothing more than using common sense about the foods you eat and teaching you a healthy safe way to detox your body first and foremost. I’ve been on the Fat Flush Plan for 22 months and have lost right at 65 lbs. and it’s staying off with just regular maintenance and I eat like a normal human being. If it’s too hard, you must be looking for a pill or surgery to fix it. Anything that truly keeps the weight off, takes time and effort. People on Biggest Loser are on that plan longer than just 6 months. Plus they are supervised by physicians on a daily basis. (hate to break the bubble, but reality tv is all scripted- I write for tv and big screen productions, it’s all in how they edit and present to the public)

sharon: I’m on day 8. I dropped two pounds the first week….disappointing….but my husband dropped six. I’m 5′1, 140 pounds…so I’ve plenty to lose. Hea*achy, yes. But on Day 8 I am absolutely tired of eggs and salads! The diet is a lot of calories for me – but I’ll try and honor it for the next week. Problem is, even after the first two weeks, very little is added into the diet. I definitely can not keep this going much longer. fatflusher44: I started Fat Flush 4 days ago. I am so happy with the results. I am happy to say I lost 5 lbs and inches! I am 44 years old and have tried everything to loose weight. I read the entire book and it made sense to me. I had the headache and nausea also. I felt wiped out and ache the first two days but by day three it toned down. If you are really serious about loosing weight and are willing to commit to the plan then try the diet. I have had so many issues with sleep, but since starting this plan I am sleeping much better.

pamyla: what about men on this plan? I have tried it in the past and it works. My husband wants to try it – any adjustments to the plan for men?

Gail: When I started doing Fat Flush, I weighed more then I did when I was pregnant. A year later, I had the same figure I did on my wedding day when I wore a size 3. Notice I said FIGURE, not WEIGHT. I enjoy eating rice pasta, brown rice, yeastless, sugarless bread made with spelt or rice flour, tortilla chips, yogurt, cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, low fat cheddar cheese, a variety of fruits and vegetables plus healthy oils. As for food combining, it predates Fat Flush. Some people can combine foods no problem. For those who experience gastro-instestinal discomfort, the food combining guidelines are a relief.

Ann: I’ve read the book, and am on day 13 of the Phase one. She has a lot of information I’ve read in other places and is right on about a lot ot things like toxins, GMO’s, and insulin responses. I didn’t buy the kit, since she gave alternatives in supplements, yet to me it is expensive. Fresh vegies for salads, flax oil, and supplements are not cheap. I’m also starting menopause and have only lost 1.3 lbs in the first week, yet lost 10inches in my thighs. This second week I’ve lost nothing nor inches and feel tired all the time, haven’t slept well and chew sugar free gum so I don’t snack on anything except on the diet. I’m also very active, I’m on my feet all day and walking on my job, as well as xc skiing, or swimming or biking. With this diet I had to cut back on the excersice yet it just doesn’t feel great to me. Everyone has told me I need more carbs and my body seems to be telling me that as well. When I went to the acupunturist last week she said my adrenals were very stressed. She suggested to get off it. I added more protein and today am adding the first friendly carb, oatmeal, since I’m gluten intolerant. Hopeing it helps. The flax and GLA supplements have been helpful, yet I don’t feel the glow that everyone else has said their skin has felt like. It may just take longer for me, since my skin has always been dry, even with massage quality oils applied every day. I also had melanoma 7 years ago so was hoping this diet would help my skin. So 13 days is not that long and I understand what folks say about lifestyle changes. I don’t eat a lot of junk since I have several food allergies and need to read labels. I also grow and perverse a lot of my own organic food since it’s cheaper and tastes so much better than most of the fruits and vegies in the stores. So I’ll give this another couple of weeks and see how it goes.

Jade: I just started the fat flush plan and it is really hard. its day three for me and i dont see or feel any results. I really would love to lose 20 pounds but it doesnt seem to be working. if anyone can give me some reassurence it would really . I cant drink cranberry juice bc i am allergic so i use polmagranet instead is that going to affect anything?

Bonnie Hartman: Well i don’t know, this is probably good in the end but, Fat FLush seems very involved. Seems like CleanseRx might be an easier way to cleanse & get wegiht loss started, and there are a lot of + comments for it. I know lifestyle changes are super important too but, you gotta start somewhere, and why make this whole process more difficult when there are options, is what i say.

Vee: This is day 1 for me. I appreciate every persons response to the program. I will keep plugging away. I see how out of control my eating habits had become. Even though I am hungry right now I feel better already. It is to early to say if I will stick with it and I am not sure if my feeling better is physical or mental at this point but I’ll take it.

Sheryl: I’m just starting week 2 of the Fat Flush and it really did get rid of the bloat immediately – which is what I wanted. I haven’t followed all of the rules exactly, but it is still working for me. I haven’t felt tired or had head*ches. My problem is that I don’t plan well so I’m not prepared for the protein. I also have a problem sleeping and you are supposed to try to go to sleep at 10:00 every night. I hope to be better this week.

lola: day 7 and no results. I dont understand. I am following it by the letter and NO changes. I already ate a pretty healthy low carb diet. But I do feel hungry all the time. I wish it worked

Susan: I only did the program “hard core” for 10 days and then just made better eating choices. Lost 10 pounds with ease–thought it was only water weight, but two months later, I’m still 10 lbs lighter. I only had a total of about 15 to lose in the first place. The program was tricky for me, since I’m a “pescatarian”, but it wasn’t impossible. Felt more clear headed and better overall for a while. I’m looking forward to doing it again after New Years.

Sarah Wright: I did the Fat Flush diet and lost around 18 pounds, after going through all 3 phases and taking about two and half months. I think it’s a solid, worthwhile diet because it’s the only diet that I have ever been on the really worked. And it has changed the way I eat. Is it expensive? Yes, the flax seed oil, cranberry juice, and other things you consume regularly are not cheap. Is it difficult, at first anyway, to get organized and in terms of time commitment because you have to prepare everything you eat? Yes. Does it work? Yes. Not only does the fat melt off, you lose cellulite, and you are energetic and even sleep better. It sort of whips your metabolism and digestive system into shape. I did the first phase pretty close to the book, then the second phase and third a bit more relaxed as I wasn’t trying to lose a huge amount of weight. However, my body responded pretty dramatically. That is, if it could talk it would say, Yes, I like this! I just felt so much better. I think I was able to do this diet because I basically like vegetables, salads, and eggs. At first it’s tough going; no sugar at all except for what is in fresh fruit is harder than you think. I didn’t do some of the things that were in the book, such as the bouncing, but lost weight anyway. It is so great and amazing to be wearing clothes a size smaller than what I had been, to me it’s worth it. One of the keys to why this diet works is that once you’ve weaned your body off sugar and simple carbohydrates is that you don’t have cravings, you just have a good appetite. That means you can pass up the cupcakes etc. at work and elsewhere. I cheated (I had a glass of wine on weekends) and I did not give up the coffee, and though I bought some of the Fat Flush vitamins I didn’t take nearly as many of the supplements that are sold by the Uni-Key company, and I still lost weight. I have wonky blood sugar and this diet straightened it out and made me feel so much better, with sustained energy all day and no slumps and sluggish periods, that I do a lot of what is recommended even though I’m no longer trying to lose weight, such as putting flax seed oil on my vegetables.

Jeanna: I love this diet but I was wondering if the 1100-1200 calories per day were in addition to the 560 calories that all the 64 ounces of cranberry contain. If so, this is only roughly 600 calories for food for 3 meals. Not to mention the calories in the whey powder and flax oil. Please advise.

Fran: First day on the Fat Flush, and I must say that I was not able to get the smoothie down. My husband managed to get his down. I did g*g a couple of times. I think I will still give it a try. I plan on buying the pills (flax), can’t do the seed, nor the oil!!! I will keep you posted. If you are able to get that flax oil down – applause to you!! I can’t!!
