Body-for-LIFE is a weight loss plan designed by Bill Phillips, a self-made fitness expert and guru, who has created a wide variety of plans and systems. This is a rather hardcore exercise and nutrition program, which is based on the idea that individuals are more apt to stay on a plan if they start to see results quickly. Phillips promises that if you stick with his plan for 12 weeks, you may have the “best body” you’ve ever had. Vida: I liked the idea of being able to win prizes and stuff, Ive always been a sucker for that. But i didnt win...and I didnt lose either. :( Disappointing.

Lucero: This Body for Life program seemed like a good idea at first because i thought it would be better than going to a gym. But even with the online community, i felt kind of isolated. i guess it works for some, but i didnt really like it.

John D.: This is a lot of hassle...I tried their challenge...they make you record your inner transformation in an essay. What the hell, I didnt think I was signing up for freshman English Comp. all over again.

Debra: It all sounded good when I read about it, but Body for Life was not easy for me to follow. Too easy for me to lose motivation.

Gail W.: To be honest, I didnt think this program provided much guidance in terms of meal plans. I need that kind of structure, and this did not provide it.

Keegan: For me, the online tools and community worked really well to get me through Body for Life. OVerall, I was happy wiht the program. My only complaint would be the lack of meal plans. I followed the guidelines but was often unable to make a creative balanced meal.

Talesa: i went on the website and it seems kind of overwhelming to me. all that stuff you have to track, and all of the different types of exercise they talk about...it doesnt seem to be good for a beginner.

Genna: as an overweight person, my biggest issue is with food!! The meal plans, i agree, are weak with Body For life. Its definitely mroe focused on exercise. i need help with my diet! this isnt what i needed.

Angela: When I began Body for life I really thought I could do it and REALLY wanted to win. It was so frustrating to keep track of everything but I did make some friends that helped me through. I guess I should be happy that I lost 12 pounds and not dwell on the rest.

Robert: call me old-fashioned, but an online community can only take me so far (no offense, everyone!). when it comes to really getting going on a weight loss plan, i like to have 3-dimensional people around.

Crissy: oh my god body for life is like SO HARD! i am so not having fun with this. i jus want someone to tel me whut to eat and what to do and just loose the weght already.

Liv: Really not that great of program, at least I didnt think so. Lots of work with little results. Body For Life was not good for me.

Gavin: This program was not what i had in mind. i knew it would be challenging but i though it would be worth it in the end, you know, when the weight came off. it was way too time consuming to record and write everything and i felt a little lost throughout. time for something new.

Artie: WHenever i tried to sign up for body for life, they were like youre too late! Try again later or whatever. I dont want to do it now. Ill lose weight anuther way.

Terese: what a tough 12 weeks that was! I am glad I did it but am even happier Body for Life is done, for me. Still need to lose about 12 more pounds, maybe Ill try one of these other products mentioned, thanks.

gina: Tried it and failed. I could not figure out all the excercises and finally gave up. I dont recommend

Tami: For those of you who posted that you have to wait until another cycle, you have misunderstood the process. You can start anytime in that cycle as early as the start date, as long as your end date is within the cycle given. Hope that clears that up. As for food prep time, come on!!! That is such a lame excuse. You can have any number of different variations, and although you are not required by any means to use the eating for life book, it is helpful...and most of the recipes are able to be prepared in the same amount of time you would prepare any other mean. Bottom line, if I could do it ANYONE could. My husband and I were gym nerds before this program and it changed our lives. It takes committment. Like with anything else, it is up to YOU. There is NO way a person can follow this program and not lose lots of weight.

Grant: Body For :Life didn't work for me. The foods were good, the exercises challenging and I learned a little from the program but was not able to reach my goal weight. I might try to continue following some of those recipes, for variety, but thats not enough to help me drop 53 lbs. Glad I tried it and stuck it out but I could never say it changed my life.

BFL: My husband and I did The Body For Life together as a couple. We both were out of shape with bad eating habits. We did not have the fitess experience like the review was saying that this program is suitable for. We were two normal people that were out of shape,and spiraling out of control. This program does work and you can achieve the results the program shows and become BODY FOR LIFE CHAMPIONS, we did.

Vanessa: I started this diet about a month ago when I was feeling very tired and frustrated with my weight. Since being on this diet I have more energy and feel better eating healthier foods. If you look at this diet it is just balanced meals, like we are supposed to eat anyways. My best friend lost thirty pounds on the diet, so I am hopeful that I will have good results also. I wanted to add I work full time and going to school to get my masters degree and I still make the diet and exercise plan work. If you really want it I believe you can achieve it. The diet may not be for everyone, but it has helped many people get on track.

Alyssa: Love it! Spending all that time getting and prepping 6 meals a day brought the discipline I needed to get healthy and stay healthy. Each days meal planning was a since of good accomplishment and made me feel good. I am a fitness goo roo to begin with and already worked out 5 days a week. This plan helped me put in a better workout that was more effective and after 6 week I got the best health screening I have had in quite some time. I cholesterol was down, my body weight was down, and I look great. I can workout longer because I am eating so healthy. I love the Atkins advantage bars and I think 30 dollars ever 12 days is a lot but once I looked at how much it cost me to eat breakfast every day in the past it was cheaper to get the bars. I spent 3 dollars a day on breakfast which is 90 a month but he bars were 75 dollars a month. I am eating more times but less food so that measured up as well to be about the same cost. At first I did not want to get up early to workout AT ALL, but after eating and exercising right for a month I hop out of the bed like it is the best thing in my day. I think this is great for someone so ready to change into a healthy lifestyle they will make the commitment.

sarah: Alyssa, I don't want to be rude because I don't know what you do with your days (other than spend all of this time getting and preparing 6 meals a day), but a lot of us do not have the time to be honing our "discipline" through constant meal preparation...I for example, have a way of getting a 'good sense of accomplishment.." it's called RAISING 3 KIDS. While I am trying to juggle their play dates and their art classes and their naps, I just do not have time to prepare 6 leisurely meals for myself! I mean, i eat standing up 6 days a week (fri. is date night and we go out). What you are saying just underscores how impractical Body For LIfe is. Most of us get a sense of achievement from our LIVES, the work we do...we're not looking for a diet that is also a full time job. Good for you that you can be a professional dieter, but I don't have the time or money!

Sian: I am currently doing Body for Life and I think it is fantastic, I have more energy than I have had in ages. A lot of people have posted that they don't have time to do it, it is a big commitment but I have two chilren and both me and my husband work full time but we are still managing to do the training together. It is hard sometimes to think of a nice meal to put together but when I wasn't on Body for Life sometimes I could not be bothered to think about what to cook so whats the difference. I certainly don't think that the prep for meals is anymore time consuming than doing a normal meal. A lot of people have said that it is an expensive diet which I agree if you go with the Myoplex from the website it is expensive, however you can try and find your own protein shake and can work out cheaper.

zoe knight: I am currently in the final round of the body for life competition! I am in the third week and have lost 15LBS, and it feels great. I dont cook 6 times a day, but with a bit of planning ahead I eat great 6 times a day without spending to much time in food prep. during the week. I work full time, and teach part-time as well I have a family. Being to busy is the excuse for everything, I did that alot. Now I make time to put the workout routine in and it feels good...better by the week. The eating for life cook book is great as well the food had much in taste, and good for you... I am making the program work for me....and who knows I just might win...it is all up to me! =]

rach: Body for LIfe is way too expensive and time consuming.,,i know many of you say that you have to "make time" and that the expense is worth it, but i am sorry, i have my limits. That doesnt make me a lazy cheap bum. Body For life was just frustrating me on every level, so i looked around and found something simpler and more promising....its called the dietawards.com, and if i lose my weight using one of the specific program (i am doing south beach) i get $1,000! To me that seems a lot better than dumping all my money into this expensive, time-consuming program. I am happy to report that i have already lost 12 lbs and am almost halfway to my goal!

Kathleen: Just started this program 10 days ago. Thought I would give a 'running progress report' for as long as I manage to stick with the program. Yes, the food prep time can be a little annoying, but I'm still in the 'honeymoon' stage so I'm not minding it so much. Additionally, I'm a stay at home mom of two teenagers and one infant, and my husband has been extremely supportive of my efforts. I probably have more time for this program than most people would be able to find. There has been a noticiable change in my mood and energy levels, but that could be the result of not eating garbage or dancing with Mr. Smirnoff a couple nights a week. I'll keep you all posted on how I do, and whether or not I am able to stick with it.... a final thought: the journalling and planning portion of this program actually works very well for me - it keeps me motivated and inspired and allows me to show my family what I have accomplished each day (now they all check it in my journal as soon as they come home).

Laura: I am currently in my 4th week of BFL and I love it. I have never had more energy and have lost 5 kilos so far. I don't prepare 6 meals a day as two of them are supplements or just a piece of fruit and some almonds which does not take any time at all, and I find with the dinners it is actually easier to prepare than before I was doing this program - just lean protien and salad or vegies, I use rubs or sauces to jazz up any fish or meat. I have two small boys, work full time, my husband has a business and we share the kids so they only go to care two days a week. I get up at 5.30am every morning before my boys to work out, this was really hard in the begining but I love it now and find it is time to have to myself.

olivia: i felt that the food plan on Body For Life was a little bit lacking, kind of weak actually, and the 6 meals a day thing and prep time was too much for me. i'm glad some of you have made it work and congratulations to you, but i think its nothing to be ashamed of if you can't manage. I just don't think i want to have to prepare 6 meals per day whilst raising a family, going to night classes and working full time. for me its just easier to try something a bit simpler for the time being. i'm currently on the South Beach Diet and its working just fine.

R Powell: I completed the Body For Life challenge through the book and journal. I have not experienced the on-line community but rather found 2 friends and my husband who decided to complete it with me. The meal prep is easy if you follow the shopping list and portions found in the book. The book also contains all of the strength training exercises with photographs so you know you're doing them correctly. The journal helps you to keep on track as it contains a daily log for exercise and food journal. After the first 12 week challenge, all four of us lost an average of 15 lbs, decreased our body fat by 7% and all had a lot more energy. We contined to follow the dietary and exercise recommendations and have seen even more results. If you make it a lifestyle instead of a program you will see continued benefit. I hope this helps.

karen: i think as with all diets, success on Body For Life depends on the individual...for me, 6 meals a day was bad, bcs I was basically still eating too much. my metabolism is slow and i dont think its good for me to eat that many meals. plus ididn't like the exercise, even when consulting the photos in the book iti seemed confusing to me. I ended up gaining 3 lbs while on Body For Life. I think you have to go with what works for YOU and for me, this wasn't it.

Sally: It's been a few years and I need to follow the BFL program again- but I just want to say that at the time I did it- it got me into the best shape of my life! The six "meals" are easy, and you don't have to join the challenge- if you own the book, and use the online tools, it has plenty of guidance and support. I'm not at all competitive, I followed it because it was very structured and gave me discipline. There is also a book "Eating For Life" and that book suggests keeping all meals simple -and then sitting down and enjoying dinner. I'd usually have griled meat, a great salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and a good carb like brown rice. I loved the program, looked really slim, and felt really strong. Guess I tlked myself into starting it up again!

Sally: P.S. Easy meals for me were cottage cheese and fresh fruit, energy bars with the right amount of protein and carbs, fast food grilled chicken sandwich, homemade soups and sandwiches that I'd make ahead, and smoothies with a scoop of protein powder in them.

Kylie: Yeah so the meals were "easy" to prepare on Body for Life, but, most were not very satisfying, to me. I was counting down the minutes to the next meal. I just basically felt the program was a lot of stress for very little results. I only managed to lose 4 lbs with ths and then I moved on to the 5 Factor Diet. Lost 17 lbs in 5 weeks.

Anonymous: Bottom line Bodyforlife is the most practical and common sense program ever invented and it will get you in shape faster than anything out there and its not complicated. To all those people that have given it negetive comments I get the impression they are looking for something that will help them get it shape but without any adjustment to their exercise and eating habbits.To those people I say wake up if you want a different result you need a different approach.Also bodyforlife does not take up that much time only 4 hours of exercise a week people I bet alot of people here watch more tv than that a week

Alexia: I love that body for life include some kind of exercising so that is why I picked this plan in the first place. Unfortunately, it involves way too much cooking which I did not realized when I started. I just don't have time for that and as the program may work for some people it is definately not suited for me or to anyone with a full time job and 2 kids to take care of after work.

Angie: my husband and I have been doing bfl for about 2 months now and are seeing different results. He has lost weight, even when he has cheated multiple times. I on the other hand have not lost any weight. on the positive I feel like I have more energy and my legs feel stronger.aside from that, I dont notice any changes in my abdominal region. as far as the food goes, the recipes were pretty good but i still felt hungry most of the time. i was counting down the minutes until the next meal as well. My husband and I were not all that much over weight, we just wanted to get toned and stronger because that is what our job requires. I will continue to eat healthy and exercise, I just dont know if its going to take longer for me.

Dolores: Yeah I found I hit a plateau rather quickly with Body for Life, and though I still prepare some of the recipes from time to time, I;ve just been walking more and using the Flex Belt for my abdominal muscles, you should take a look Angie http://www.theflexbelt.com/video. Maybe it could speed things along? I am still in shock at how easy it is to get a firm stomach, and am telling everyone. Good luck!

G-Love: This is a great plan. Its not a quick fix, which it seems like a lot of people are looking for. There is no such thing. Its hard work and a lifestyle change. However this is a healthy plan and one you can stick with if you have the will power. Highly recommend it to those who can stick with it seriously.

Mercedes: I am not even sure why I post, I don't have much to say about body for life which I only tried for 2 weeks and had to give up for lack of dramatic results. I did not leave it at this as a soon as I stopped body for life I started the south beach diet. It's now been 3 weeks and I alredy lost 9lbs. I am starting to introduce some of the exercises I was doing while on body for life and are hoping to have a kick ass body by the end of next month LOL. good to luck to all the dieters, it's hard but once you found what fits you it changes everything, it is not a diet anymore but a new way of life.

Tara: I looked at all the 'thumb up' ratings on this site, and I found it really interesting that the only product that required work (physical activity and planning), Body for Life, received a 'thumbs down'. All the powders, the stomach belt, the cleanses, things that supposedly give results fast without work, all received a positive rating. In todays world everybody wants instant gratification, they want everything now, results now....You have to work a little to achieve your goals, they cant just be handed to you in a bottle. If you follow Body for Life, you will see and feel the results. There is no way you won't. It just requires time and effort.

shannon: Yes, i agree that "quick fixes'" are something that Americans lean on too often for the "easy way out." i don't approve of that either tara. Lasting weight loss does take time & effort. I'm sure BodyForLife is a fine program, but i just didn't have the flexibility of schedule for all the cooking and prep time. So i switched to the Jillian Michaels program, which, believe me, is hard work!No "easy way out" here! And I'm seeing results already. And the meal preparation is more compatible with my life.
