Nuphedrine® - Extra Strength Top Rated Fat Burning Capsule

It doesn’t get much better than that. 206 Responses to “AtkinsDiet”

CrystalB: well, I’m thinking so far that the Atkins Diet makes good sense and I’m doing pretty well. But my concern is it has been only 2 weeks and already i’ve started to crave carbs big time. what you you guys do to get over that hump? I really don’t want to fail on another diet, i think this can help me if i stay strong!!! Any advice would be great.

Madeline: I can’t say anything negative about Atkins – I have been on the program for over two years and managed to lose about 30 pounds. I will say though that as I am approaching 50 this year I notice my progress has plateaued and I expect it is the result of a slowing metabolism. I think I will continue many of the dietary practices I have learned and incorporate an herbal supplement to get things up and running quickly again.

Becky: I love Atkins….I guess I never realized how good i could feel if i stopped overloading my body with white flour and refined sugars. I feel like somebody who has found a new religion, i want to tell everybody about it!

Julia: When Atkins was the hottest thing several years ago, I really had a lot of skepticism towards the diet. I’d look at my friends eating lots of cheese and red meat and think, that is not healthy at all. bUT, I am a carb lover and can attribute my big booty to all the bagels and white bread I consume, I have no doubt. So I just began on Atkins, I read more about it and think it might be the rihgt way to go. The people I know DID lose wiehgt but I don’t think they all kept it off. If anyone has suggestions, please, let me know. It’ll make this diet lots easier if I know it will be long lasting.

Sherine: Atkins diet is really working so far for me, I have lost 2 pounds already and it has only be 2 weeks. I do agree that the craving for carbs is starting to heat me big time and really hope i can stay strong because I am seeing results.

Gwen: Hmm, well, I’ve lost 4 lbs on Atkins but I also find myself wanting to devour an entire pizza in one sitting. So, this is a problem. i see some comments about supplements, how about an appetite suppressant? Anybody know a good one?

Mitzi: Atkins works really well for weihgt loss, I lost a bunch of weight right away, I couldn’t believe it. But yeah, I think its common to reach a plateau at a certain point, I ended up taking a fat burner about 7 or 8 monhts into the diet, because I wasn’t able to lose any more. It makes a big difference, just gives me that extra help for getting the weight down.

Jacey: I swear to God, if anybody even mentions bacon to me, or anything else that’s fat and meaty, I’m going to throw up. I lost 5 pounds really fast, but I just can’t do this diet another minute. I have GOT to have some bread and some lettuce and maybe an artichoke. The thought makes me drool! So this works, no doubt, but I can’t stay with it…too limited, by far.

laurie: Yeah I hear you, I have done the Atkins diet and at the time it did work but I ended up gaining all the weigh back and more, I am only human and I don’t thing this diet plan has been design for people like me.

Kate: I never in a million years thought I could commit to a low carb lifestyle. I used to love bread and pizza so much. But what I have discovered is that I love being skinny more than anything. I do take an appetite suppressant when I am going out to dinner just as insurance, but other than that I am doing it totally on my own!

madelyn: I’m having a great time on Atkins, actually, since I love meat and cheese and nuts. Its very liberating to be able to eat these foods witout guilt. But I’m worried that maybe I’m overeating these items just a tad. Is this maybe why my progress has been slow? the thing is i have really laid off the carbs!

Ulyssa: Didn’t Dr. Atkins die of sort of a meat-sclorosis? Or some such? I mean, best intent in the world, but the man died of super clogged arteries, and I can see why after trying this for a week. It definitely works for losing weight in a double quick hurry, but I feel so bloggy and soggy and generally gross. It’s not something I can stick with, and plus I don’t want to just have an occasional glass of wine…who’s kidding who, here?

Tyler: For me, I was a big fan of Atkins in the beginning. I was eating steak and eggs all the time, and still losing weight. I kept going on and off of Atkins for about 3 years, maybe I just wasn’t consistent, but the weihgt would always come back. And I knew i could get it off fast. But it was sorta too much of a yo-yo, I’ve given up on it now, am looking for something more promising.

Gina: the idea of atkins is better than the reality. I can go for 4 maybe 5 days doing no carb. I never use their replacements or supplements, which I think are crap. I do my own combo of appetite suppressant and fat burner that I learned from my grandmother. I like to take bits and pieces of difference diets and use them to suit my needs. that works best for me.

gemini: Well, i can feel myself starting to fall off the wagon. It started with half a roll, then the other half, and it deteriorated steadily from there. I wish i could have done it, but I’m too weak.

Val: I happen to really love meat, could practically live on nothing but, so what a great thing to find a diet that agrees with me! I’ve all ready lost maybe 14 pounds in just a couple of weeks, and I’ve got tons of energy…must be all the protein and plus I work out a lot and the combination is really something! So of course I’m going to keep going with this until I lose another 10 pounds or so, and then I’ll maybe have a baloney sandwich…that’s what I’ve been missing the most…but it’s definitely worth it!

suzanne: That is what I need! An appetite suppressant thanks Kate! Can you recommend one? I have been on Atkins for awhile and it’s working but can be kind of a torture sometimes when I have a craving for carbs. Thanks, Suzanne.

Yadiral: I know this is working because I seem to be losing weight really fast, and the meat/fat/cheese thing was great for the first week or so, but now I’m really constipated and am not sure what to do about it…I can’t be eating fruits and vegs just yet, so is it ok to take some fiber pills or something? I don’t want to give up on this, but my stomach is definitely in rebellion mode…or my intestines, or something! Who’s got a suggestion???

Linda Feretti: Well I’m feeling pretty optimistic about my Atkins plan, but I’ve done a lot of research to make sure this time, it’s fail-proof. Based on what I am reading its very hard, transitioning to low carb, so you need a good supplement with an appetite suppressant to help you through. From everything i have seen it looks like Hoodia is the best. what i am wondering is, have any of you tried it? And what did you think?

Missy: What are you supposed to do when you just have to eat carbs – I mean if you’re at someone’s else and they serve rice you have to eat it or it would be rude, right? That’s why I exercise my butt off for n hour every day and take a fat burner in addition to doing Atkins. It’s the only way to make sure you lose all the weight without losing momentum.

Charlotte: In my life I tend to give up on things too easily, and though I had success with Atkins for awhile, after about 6 months or so, the weight wouldn’t budge. But I knew this was a lifestyle, a commitment, not just a diet…so I didn’t give up. I felt pretty good but wanted to lose about 20 more pounds. So..I ordered a fat burner (Nuphedrine, I get it here http://www.nuphedrine.com/ ) and it has been helping so well. I don’t think of it as cheating on the diet or anything, I still eat what I am supposed to, but this helps control the cravings and burn the fat faster. It’s my secret diet helper, that’s how I think of it…

Alex: Hey guys, I have been on Atkins for a while now and I keep reading those wonderful stories about people loosing weigh, lots of weigh really fast and it’s just not happening on my end. I mean I have been following the instructions as told… it’s just not working for me that much. I have lost a fews pounds but that’s about it. Is anyone experiencing the same thing? Thanks, Alex

Helena: I was proceeding on the Atkins Plan and was on Phase 3 when I went on vacation. I was so proud of how I looked and the progress I had made that I completely went bananas and didn’t think about calories or exercise at all for 10 days. Now I’m home and have gained at least 7 pounds back, which must be some kind of record. I don’t want to spiral down and be fat again! What should I do? Should I take a supplement or go back on Atkins or what?! I’m totally bummed.

Peg: Well, for the constipation salad would probably be best….or anything high fiber. But barring that you could try Metamucil or a colon cleanse. I had the same issue w/Atkins for a while, til i was able to have more balance with the vegetables. I wish this diet had a solution for that, because a lot of us women struggle with constipation as we get older.

RED: Diets with carrot sticks & tofu are for WIMPS! Bring on the BeEF!

Whitney: Atkins is the one and only diet for me and I tried them all. I was an early adopter of the diet more than 15 years ago and I still follow the plan to this day. I am a 50 year old grandma and I love to play tennis. I feel fit and healthy and I couldn’t have done it without this ingenious diet. Thank you. Dr. Atkins.

Doreen: The Atkins Diet is really not suitable for vegetarians. By the time I decided to try this, I was no longer vegan (or it wouldn’t have been an option at all) but I still ate a mainly vegetarian diet. I knew I had too many carbs and had gained 12 lbs in one year. I thought maybe I could forgo my veggies and lose some weight but by the 3rd week, I was disgusted with myself. I just need more fresh fruit & veggies in my diet, and as long as I eat whole grains, I don’t have a problem wit the carbs as much. NOt for me.

Angelica: Atkins makes it simple to decide what to eat. On other diets I could never get the portions right and would make excuses to eat my offenders and my diet would fail. I like how simple and straightforward it is. Other women can perhaps eat carbs in moderation, but not me. I go overboard with everything and eating is one of my favorite hobbies. Or it used to be. These days I am trying to think of food as fuel rather than fun and you know what? I like the way I look and feel so much more then ever!

Kristina: My feelings about Atkins are still mixed, even though I’ve been on it for 2 months now. I do really like the idea of getting rid of carbs, refined flours, high fructose corn syrups and saturated fats. However, I do wonder whether i am missing out on the balance of life. There ares some really healthy bread products that i can’t imagine are that terrible for my body.I love bread and i miss it. I see other people enjoying healthy bread and pastas without being fat. Plus, I read recently that high protein diets like this increases risk of heart disease. this was the National heart Association who said this, so that does worry me. i just feel like, I need a bit of help staying on this. I am worried that i will start binging, or that I might ultimately not be helping myself with this. can anyone give me some good adivce?

Blair: I don’t have time for haters or for BS diets that don’t work. Atkins is smart because it gives limitations. Obviosly we eat to much food in America and so eating less breads is a better idea. Meat is what animals eat and they are’t never to fat.

Jodi: Well, okay so a few years ago, my weight had ballooned to a very unhealthy 187, I had been under a lot of stress and had not been taking care of myself. New job, 2 kids, no time to cook. I was eating out a lot and never exercising. I;m 5′3” so you can imagine what I looked like. Not pretty. Anyway everywhere I went, it was Atkins this and Atkins that, I couldn’t get away from it. Finally I decided to give it a try. In the first month I lost 10 lbs, then 8 more the second. It was a start, a good start. I began taking more tiem to prepare my meals and go on walks, and felt really good. In the third month I lost another 6 lbs. I can’t believe how eeasy it was to get the weight off, once I set my mind to it. Now, I do sometimes use supplements too (all natural of course) but the diet itself just makes it easy to lose weight and keep it off. I only wish I would’ve started on this sooner, no wonder so many people love it, it works.

carmen: In my experience Atkins diet have been just fantastic. I have been following the steps really well and saw amazing result, I am gonna sound like a freaking commercial but I went form a size 12 to 8 and I keep loosing. I just keep a strong mind and get a little help from supplement diet pills and I am happy girl!

Rita: I’m actually sold on Dr. Atkins, and I think he was a man before his time and finally people are paying attention to what he had to say. I was SO overweight, and was thinking the old stomach stapling solution, but I was not QUITE eligible for my insurance to pay for it, so had to find another way to get rid of the bulges and overlaps on my own. I mean, I didn’t want to end up like one of those people whose family has to clean them with washcloths on a stick to get between the fat rolls, how could anyone stand to do that? Is that love or addiction? Not for me, thank you no matter which thing you choose. I started Atkins about a year ago, the weight came off pretty quickly, considering, and now I’m in the phase that’s balanced, and I haven’t gained any of it back, which I consider quite the miracle. My family is proud of me, I’m proud of me, and there are no gross cleansing rituals in any of our futures. Thanks to Dr. Atkins, close to sainthood in my book.

Garrett: But IS Atkins out? It still seems to be popular. Maybe people just got lazy about sticking with it. Is there a reason the low-carb craze has subsided??

Corinne: Sorry, but I couldn’t hang in there with this. I think there’s probably some validity to the low carb concept, but i just didn’t have the will power. There are certain foods i just can’t’ give up. Plus, my progress was too slow on Atkins.

Angela: Glad I came to this site, I was thisclose to giving up on Atkins altogether but I dont wanna be a quitter. I’m gonna check out Nuphedrine, maybe that’s what I need to get this last stubborn ten pounds off of me.

Julie Fisher: I was starting to feel sort of ill from all the meat, too. TOo much of anything is probably not the best idea. I was as constipated as could be, and that worried me. It seemed to be a sign from my body that things were not running smoothly. i have colon cancer in my family so that scared me.

Sheralyn: My cholesterol went up after 4 months on Atkins, I guess the 14 lbs I’d lost didn’t mean I was any fitter. The weight came back as soon as I stopped the diet, so now I’m gonna see if I can just find a diet pill to get my weight back down. I liked being able to eat real, filling food on this, just wish it was longer lasting.

Uma: You know what I discovered? I can do Atkins if I drink like GALLONS of water along with it! I’m not so sure that’s such a great mental picture…all that meat sloshing around with a sea of stomach water, but hey, it’s taking the curse off this for me. So as long as I can keep glugging down pitchers of water when I eat, then I’m going to stay with this. I wonder why nobody else has thought of this? Do you think it might be a bad thing to do? Anybody?

Micki: OK so I only just begun the book and looking more into the Atkins Diet; is it meant to be followed for life? I wanna lose wiehgt but I don;t know if I can give up my carbs forever, you are still allowed to eat some at some point, right??

Gia: Really, Atkins changed my life. It is not an easy diet to follow, especially in the beginning, but it works. Like with anything else, you gotta check with your doctor if you have health concerns, but this is a treid & true diet plan.

Iris: THanks for the link to Nuphedrine, I tried it and it really made a difference, lost 13 lbs in 5 weeks!!

Ann: My husband and I didn’t want to be flabby at fifty so we started Atkins last Summer. Lost 20lb easily (more quickly for him) in a few months and now weigh what we weighed in our (slim) early 20s. Have kept to a wonderful, varied low carb diet since and the weight has not gone back on. My husband was a carb craver but even he has found the diet satisfying enough to keep to. Do the exercise as well and the rewards are fantastic!

alexis: This diet is full of fat and very low on fiber!!! People should always avoid sugar, but should not cut out all carbs!!

Debbie: The Atkin’s diet is really effective. For me the hardest part was eating so radically different from most of the people I know, who eat far more breads, pasta and sweets than is good for them. The concept of low fat being the way to go just doesn’t make sense when you realize the way the chemistry of our bodies work when we limit our carbs and eat only good for you protein and fats and exceptionally good for you vegetables. I for one would recommend the diet to anyone but always with the suggestion that they read alot first to really understand what will be happening to their bodies and the way they will feel, especially the first few weeks.

Marcy: Although I will agree that reading up on Atkins before beginning the diet is super important, I am no longer a proponent of it. I knew what I was getting into & also knew people who’d been successful with it. I first began it about 4 years ago, however and lost only 10 lbs, kept it off for about a year. Never lost more though. Then the weight started to creep back and my cholesterol levels spiked. I still watch my carbs and sugar intake, but for weight loss and health, Atkins will ruin you! NOT a good diet!!!

amelie: I went on the Atkin’s diet a few years ago and lost a lot of weight. I have since gone back on it and found that i can’t lose any weight on it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Maureen: The meat eating & cheese Great!! So having started and got my Ketostix. Lost loads in the 1st 4 days (obviously water) then nothing, and no fat burning confirmed on the stix. Referring to the book followed Atkins instrs for possible Hypothyroidism. Doctor confirmed a problem and has started me on Thyroxine. Can anyone advise when would be a good time to re-commence the diet. As I can’t wait now to see great results. Amelie this could well be your problem too. I had never had a problem dieting before, just kept putting it on again.

lauren gately: So, Maureen…what is it that is so great about the experience you describe? YOu lost water weight, stopped losing it… found out you have a thyroid problem, and now you want to go back to Atkins because…why, again? I just dont understand what was so good about losing *temporary* weight and no real weight. I personally am going nowhere with Atkins..yeah, i like the meat and cheese too, but I’m just not losing the weight. Plus, i am dreaming of carbs. :(

Maureen: To Lauren, Having re read my comment I see what you mean. I loved the diet, the meat eating and cheese and was never hungry. As I didn’t lose the weight. I looked for a problem, which was the thyroid. So Lauren, I do believe this diet will work. Reading the other comments I am even more convinced it will. I was not suggesting Atkins gave me a thyroid problem. On the contrary, Atkins helped me to discover I had a problem. When sorted I will definately try Atkins again.

Belle: The Atkins diet encourages you to eat natural, whole foods and gets you off of processed foods, sugar and white flour. It is healthful way of life. After two weeks of induction, you gradually add in fruits and some starches to the level that your particular body can assimilate and still lose weight. It lowers triglycerides and does not raise cholesterol. It is well studied and highly recommended.

Robert: I was on atkins diet for a year, It works great I lost 170 pounds that year. But now I’m trying to put on some muscle, but without carbohydrate it’s almost impossible to lift a substantial amount of weight. So I change my diet, one that includes lots o carbs and protein and low in fat and lifting hard at gym. I seems to work, I gain some weight, back most of it muscle. I am happy with it. In conclusion if you have more than 50 pounds to lose, go for it. It’s very effective, but when you are almost reaching your ideal weight. Just go to a more traditional approach.

Bernie: Robert, please contact me by email. I need to lose about the same amount of weight that you have lost and I really need to talk to a guy who had as much to lose I do. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Shannon: I struggled through the Induction phase of Atkins, lowering my intake until i went into ketosis (which i later learned is not healthy for the metabolism)…i was tired and craving carbs and starchy veggies all the time. My breath was metallic and disgusting all the time i had to carry Altoids around all day and brush my teeth at work. When I finally reached the OWL phase of Atkins, i felt pretty awful…i was relieved to be able to add more carbs and some fruits starchy vegies to my induction-acceptable veggies. But unfortunately, at this point my body went haywire, and istarted gaining the weight back. it was supposed to still be a time of weight loss, but i guess just the increased calories did it…i think i had lowered my metabolism so much during ketosis that even a slight caloric increase caused my body to be desperate to store the calories as fat. It was awful awful awful, and the lack of carbs certianly made me weak and increased my cravings. Let me just say this diet is too severe, and i think its extremely unrealilstic and unhealthy. i recently transitioned into South Beach, which is much nicer and more user-friendly, and I’m doing much MUCH better.

kelly: Apparently Atkins filed for Ch 11 bankruptcy back in 2006…i wonder, with this economy, if this is even a smart diet to invest my time and money in…

laura: Atkins was simply too strict and too slow-going for me. I feel like a diet should be one or the other: slow OR strict. You know? Not both. I feel like the slow-going diet should be a bit more moderate and lenient, and so it takes longer. But for a diet as strict as this one, i thought the weight would come flying off..but you know what, it didn’t.

Julia: Great diet, I am loosing the weight a bit slower than anticipated but at least I am loosing so I am pleased. I just need to start strong and forget about pasta (which I love) for awhile.

Josh: Too Slow, too dangerous and just not balanced enough for me. I am not sure who the Atkin diet is working for but it definately didn’t work for me. I just stopped today and after doing it for 5 weeks and really don;t recommend it.

renee: I stuck to Atkins very strictly but all i thought about where carbs, and soon i was cheating and sneaking carbs, until eventually i had to admit i had fallen off the wagon. I just don’t think this is a very realistic diet for anyone who likes food.

Nina_Miami: I agree, the Atkins Diet is very challenging but it works for me. I also agree that it is a slow process, I don’t want to stay on longer but may have to. All know is that I am indeed loosing weight and that all that matter, we need to remain strong my fellow dieters. I believe we can do it, just need to stay positive.

oscar: I thought this diet would work faster or something. Atkins just seems like slow torture, i couldn’t keep with it.

heather: *ATKINS* on the plus side, I like eating lots of meat & cheese & nuts;…..on the minus side it is not helping me 2 loose any weight., maybe i am doing it wrong?????????????

Charlotte: I agree with many of you, that the Atkins Diet took too long and was too depriving. I need something a little faster since i have a lot of weight to loose.

Marni: Atkins has its merits, for sure. I have been able to sustain the low carb thing for certain periods, for me it’s easier in summer and when I am taking hoodia, but during the holidays and all winter I have to have bread and pasta to keep me warm and contented. I think it brought a lot of attention to how much we overconsume white foods but it is not entirely a realistic way to live and be happy all the time. For me it is an only when extremely necessary to be my very slimmest do I use it thse days.

deb: I think that Atkins Diet is a good plan but you really have to have discipline and determination. I found that the induction phase is definitely the hardest, since theres only 20 net carbs alowed per day and it lasts 2 weeks. But if you can get thru that nit does get easier. You just have to be willing to work.

Amanda: I have been on phase one for now 4 days and are already feeling much lighter, I have not used a scale yet (i will do it every 7 days) but I can tell I am already loosing weight. I am not sure how long I will be able to last on greens and fish though, I don’t eat meats. Does anyone have any amazing recipes they can share for phase one? Thanks.

Lo: I just cannot do it. Call me lazy and say I have no willpower but I love sandwiches and fruit. I could not live on the Atkins Diet for more than one day. I’ll try anything else but this again.

Adison: I feel so bad, I just HAD to have a baked potato! I only was on Atkins for a week, and I guess that’s not very long, I’d lost two pounds but I was so hungry, and I kept seeing that baked potato in my dreams, so….I ate two for breakfast this morning! Isn’t that just so goofy, but I couldn’t help myself, sour cream, butter, the potato? OMG, nothing ever tasted so good in my entire life! So it’s plain to me I have to find something that’s more balanced, maybe South Beach, and I think an appetite suppressant too, I have to create a way that isn’t so strict I don’t have the mental power to do it.

nora: Induction is tough….does anybody feel like they are having some major problems with food cravings? Its especially hard when i see my husband and kids eating things like pancakes and fries and pizza….i wish they would be more considerate of my diet, but they get hungry too, i guess. Anyway. Does anyone have some tips for getting through this first phase of the Atkins Diet (without killing your happiness)? :) Thanks!

g. wendell: the weight came off with Atkins Diet, lost about 19 lbs over the course of a year or so. didn’t mind the foods or nothing, problem was, my cholesterol levels skyrocketed on this. had to stop and since then, i regained more than 10 lbs. if someone has suggestion so i can make it work and not increase cholesterol, please tell. or another good way to lose weight would be appreciate as well.

Heloise: I think Atkins is great if you like meat, but I don’t know, it must be my age or something, but red meat just about makes me gag, so I don’t think this diet is going to work for me, I’d much rather eat apples and raisins.

Claire: I drink a lot of water and it really helps when I am hungry, at a gallon a day. The Atkins diet is what I believe to be the perfect diet for me.

Honor: I am going to give atkins diet a tentative thumbs up. I do think you have to be careful when you reintegrate carbohydrates or else you blow up like a college freshman but if you are mindful this can be a successful diet. I mean, I do feel like I have mroe energy when I cut out white bread and sugar. It’s working for the moment and I am pretty okay with how I look.

Lindy: The induction phase of Atkins diet IS the most difficult, i don’t envy you for bein there right now nora! but stick with it and maybe try taking some hoodia bites to help with the cravings. that helped me a lot. and also, keep yourself active and out of the kitchen while hte others are eating, don’t torture yourself that way! good Luck to you.

Anna: I’m not so sure I should do Atkins diet, my Cholesterol is kinda high, like the combined is 250? Maybe I should get that under control first? But then, maybe if I lost weight it would go down? I just don’t know how to do this, I guess.

jojo: hi I will have to dry those HOodia Bites, what do they taste like? They stop you from wanting to over eat? i keep starting the induction phase, cheating, then going back to the beginning all over again. its terrible.

Eleanor: Atkins Diet is not the diet that is most appropriate for my body. I think every individual is different and needs different things from a diet which is why it is so hard to to find the right one, there are no blanket good for everyone diets in my opinion. I tried Atkins a number of times and I just cannot do it, don’t like it, didn’t have the results I expected. But if it works for you more power to you!

Harriet: OMG, all this carb talk! I’m only on day 5 of the Induction part of atkins diet, and I’m STARVING for bread, pasta, a potato, ANYTHING! I like thinking that it will get better if I can just through this first two weeks, but I don’t know if I can…do you think an appetite suppressant would help at this point, or is it my body just crying out for what it needs? And shouldn’t I listen?

Sharon Lamont: This diet (AtKins) made me real real tired. I just had ZERO energy to go outdoors and do anything that required raising my heart beat. Sorry to say I didn’t last 6 weeks on this plan, and in fact, I gained 3 lbs. I know its probably from the lack of physical ativity but I just could NOT do it. Did not realize how worn down i felt on this diet, I think maybe I need to find one now that includes a more specific activity plan and is not so focused on foods. I dunno, all i know is I am up to 226 and its not acceptable.

Bobbsie: Tried the atkins diet but couldn’t do it, I dunno, I guess it was watching people eat desserts that did me in, I travel a lot, and I just couldn’t stand not being able to eat things like Tiramisu after a business dinner, I gave in, and that was that, the 4 pounds I’d lost in 2 weeks came back almost INSTANTLY!

Katarina: I hate that I have to complain about the fact that I am not loosing weight fast enough but it is a fact. The Atkins diet is the only diet I have even had success with, meaning I am loosing weight. But it is also the hardest diet I have ever done and feel like I should be loosing way more considering I can’t eat. I still think it’s good plan though.

Katarina: I meant considering all the things i can’t eat…:)

Jessica: I’m going to jillian micheals after 3 weeks on the atkins diet, I actually made it through the induction part, but as soon as I added like a piece of bread, I couldn’t stop with the carbs, and so I think this takes a lot more strength to do than people know I’m happier having my meals all done and they’re slow to get the weight off, but Atkins was no roaring ball of fire in that direction, either, and I feel way healthier losing weight this way. Balance is everything.

abbie: Hi my question is about Hoodia Bites…do they have carbs? I need something, i have been on Atkins DIET for 5 days and I am starving.

Joni: When you think about it, weren’t we BORN to be carnivores? Our bodies are not designed to process al the refined flours and sugars, we were made to eat from the EARth. So I think Atkins diet makes a whole lotta sense, esp once you get to maintenance phase. IT really is more balaned at that stage, I think most people only know about the Induction phase. Read the book before you start the diet and you see how much sense it makes! I am one year on and feeling great.

Fred: True I felt tired as well on the atkins diet, phase one in particular. I was not able to go to the gym during that phase which I usually go 4 times a week. I lost a few pounds but I had to stop following it as overall the weight lost was not dramatic enough. When I first read the book it made complete sense and I still think it does, but for people like me who have a really big amount of weight to loose it just was not working.

casey: I think Atkins Diet is probably a perfectly fine diet if followed correctly, but the thing is i just dont have the willpower for it. I like to eat and i like carbs and every time i have attempted Atkins i have failed. I dont blame the diet i blame myself, but i dont think i will try it again. Good lucck to everyone.

NancyLudlum: With the atkins diet all I wanted was corn flakes! And I don’t even like cereal! Just goes to show you what happens to your body with this wacky diet…it’s like being pregnant, I got so obsessive about food I could hardly stand it, finally I gave in and bought a box of Frosted Flakes, ate the whole thing at one sitting. This is not a healthy way to go!

Clara: Atkins is the ONLY diet that works for me. Atkins Diet is restrictive but that is what I NEED. it is a diet after all. I spent many year indulging myself eating all the cake and pizza I desired and now it’s time to pay the piper. I like feeling restricted and I love losing weight. It feels very very empowrring.

ErinB: I can’t afford the Atkins diet, all I can afford is mac and cheese, and not even the good stuff, the kind in the box with the powdrd yellow fluff, and who can even get hamburger, bun or no bun? Maybe if I get some more money coming in, this would be something for me to try, but not right now.

Bella: NONONONO! Atkins Diet is terrible. It started off as an ok concept but now they are all about the crappy products and making the big bucks. It is a very simple idea: eat more protein and veggies than you do empty calories of carbs. I thought it that years ago. It just makes me so mad that people think it is so ingenious. Whatever.

Mickey: Been doing the Atkins DIET for 7 years and tell everone about it. The diet is easy to follow and some of the pre-packaged items help me get through the days, for some quick protein (without hte carbs) I also had some trouble with energy for awhle so as the review states, a metabolism booster can be real helpful. The one I like is Slim 10. Keeps my diet on track and the weight loss steady; I admit it was fluctuating most of the time, until about 6 mos ago when I added the supplemnt. Got the last 12 lbs off and its staying off too.

Winnie: South Beach is the only way to go, it’s balanced and clean and there’s great choices of things to eat and it makes sense. Atkins diet is too much of a fad, it’s come and gone about 10 times, and I think it should just stay gone, not to be mean, but why fool around with it when there are other great diets available?

marjorie: Well i have found that eating so much meat tends to leave me with constipation which has already been a problem for me. Does anyone know of a gentle way to move things along in the colon? I don’t want to have to quit Atkins Diet but this is becoming a problem.

Lilah: OMG Have you TRIED THe Atkins chocolate peanut butter cups?? To DIE FOR! Those things are so yummy, I ‘m afraid I gonna ruin my diet with them..but they sugar free so its ok, rihgt?

John: Atkins diet is pretty easy to follow. I will do it for a while while I lose about 40 pounds since my wife says I am going to have a heart attack like my dad. It’s fine, I don’t mind eating more meat. Thumbs UP.

jeanne d.: hey there marjorie, cleanse rx is a good colon cleanser. i just used it 2 mos ago and lost 11 lbs. i’ve been on atkins diet for 6 months now and in that time, lost a total of 24 lbs…almost half that from this recent cleanse! i don’t know if is hould continue, since i got so stopped up. maybe i just eat regular and use the cleanse ever now and then? haven’t decided, just wanted to let you know that this is a good one.

Adriana: I knew it was not gonna be an easy road doing the ATKINS diet but never in my mind I thought I was so addicted to cabs. Yes, I gave up after 5 days and you know I don’t feel so bad about it because I only lost 1 silly pound for all that “torture”. I am looking into the south beach diet right, it sounds a little but more balance although phase one sounds hard to, maybe I’ll try it, people seem to like it, it has great ratings.

Samantha: I have to agree, ATkins diet wass too hard and too slow. I hate to admit it but I quit after only 2 days! I missed my g and t at 5, I missed my snacks that go along with it, I decided that life is just too damn short to give all that up, who knows I could be dead tomorrow? Bad luck to say that, huh? but it’s true, and so I’m going to enjoy, but hope now I can find some kind of pill that will just help me eat less and then I won’t have to worry about carbs, protein and blah blah, I’ll just eat (and drink) less and that makes plenty of sense to me about now.

brody: YES! I agree Atkins DIET is okay but my problem too is it takes too damn long i wanted to loose weight for my wedding but this is taking forever. I need a way to etiher speed this up, or find another diet. I like this web site and thanks for all the tips.

PJ: LAst summer I bought the Alli diet pills because I was SO SICK of “dieting” and I thought taking something to help block the fat or whatever would just be easier. Well, THAT diet is stricter than I realized, becase, if you don’t eat right, you get really really sick. Like, nasty accidents and digestion problems…jsut gross. So even though I did not like eating greasy meat on Atkins diet 3 yrs ago, I am going back on it on because its better to at least eat some fatty foods and not worry so mucha bout the consequences! Althought I did learn better portion control, I stil might get that hoodia bites stuff or something like it, so this is easier. I hope it works better this time around…I’m sure it will be better than the Alli was though!

Marion: Well Rome was not built in one day ladies and gentleman! I can’t believe I feel like I have to defend the Atkins diet but I just can’t let people say things such as it is too slow. Yes it takes time to make deform body be as beautiful as it was before we started mistaking it for a garbage! the Atkins diet is slowly but surely putting my life my into the right path and I could not be more grateful to Dr Atkins for it!

Jennifer: ATKINS DIET is such a ball of crap, I hate to say it but you know it’s true. I mean, come on, how hard is it to figure out how to eat a balanced diet, or cut carbs or whatever. They told me nothing new and the few pounds I lost I gained back right away.

quinceneara: I wish you all would stop complaining and just work the Atkins diet. nothing is easy in life. You have to work hard or nothing is going to happen.

Gina: I felt awful for the two weeks that I really did stick to the Atkins diet, I felt like I could just sit in a chair and yell Pass the Bacon to my husband, and at the end ot eh two weeks, anything with fat on it made me want to throw up, so even though the END of the diet is good, it’s kinda how South Beach is (which I’m doing now, thank God) and that’s where you should start, and not bother with the first 4 weeks, it will do nothing but make you sick.

ingrid: the first two weeks were tough but I STUCK WITH IT and lost 3 lbs! i am now entering phase 2 of the Atkins Diet and looking forward to losing more..and adding some more foods into my diet. i think that, it will just easier from here, and if its slow, i;’m prepared to stick it out. it can;’t be any slower than nutrisystem, and at least the foods are better!

Patricia OH: OMG, Alli diet pills were so lame! But I could not call the Atkins diet the solution to Alli’s failure. Call me complainer or whatever you want, some people in family even say I am full of excuses so I don’t hav to diet but that is not true. I want to loose weight and neither alli or Atkins were good for me. Alli made me physically sick and Atkins was way too expensive and slow and require too much creative cooking. Do you know how much cost organic certified meat?

Guadalupe: The first thing I’m going to have when I get out of this 2 weeks is some bean soup, that’s what I’m craving the most, with melted cheese on top and some avocado and sour cream and chips…the Atkins Diet is making me crazy! But hey, I’ve lost 3 pounds so it IS working, slow as heck, but working, so I’m going to give it the full shot…

Debbie: Hi i am curious, what resturants can i eat at and get an atkins diet meal? i know ther are a few chains? is it applebees? thx!

patricia: I was so upset at how long Atkins diet was taking for me….geez I dont have forever! I mean i felt like i was practically starving and still nothing was happeneing! But then i started taking Slim10 which has metabolism boosters and my progress got faster. to date i have lost 14 lb with them together.

Phoebe: I am glad I found this blog because I have been considering my own mixed feelings about Atkins Diet, which I have done, off and on for ten years, and reading these posts I feel affirmed in all the things I have thought over the years. Right now I am reading a book on eating locally and going to spin class. Might to Atkins again after New Years but now now.

Josh: The Atkins diet is pretty amazing stuff, I guess it works better for men because we tend to complain less:)

Abbie: So many diets, so many choices? I think I’ve tried just about all of them, the Atkins Diet a couple of times, and you know what? I don’t think it’s the diet’s fault, it’s the dieter!!! Well, duh, you’re probably all saying, but really, I don’t think it matters what you eat as long as it’s only a little bit, so I’m going back to the Why French Women don’t get fat, or diet, I can NEVER remember the full title of that book, but you can have a little bit of a croissant, some cheese, some whatever, but only a little taste, and that’s what I like about it, and then I’m going to find some appetite suppressant and I do believe I’ll finally be good to go.

Ginger: IF you read hte book and follow ALL of the tips suggested, you can be successful on ATkins Diet. Since starting I am a lot more active and also drink a lot of water. I still dont like water but I try to drink it more to stay hydrated. I think it helps with the constipation too. And the weight loss is slow but you know what, I feel good. I just wish I knew of a faster way to get rid of my flabby tummy…thats my biggest problem area. I will try to be patient though, cause i know this is working.

Janet: Thumbs Down for Atkins Diet. I think there are better diets now, this was a fad in the 90’s. I didn’t like it then and I think it’s worse now with all the products instead of promoting eating whole and healthy foods.

christy: well i just have some trouble understanding why fruit is frowned upon by ATKINS diet. Fruit to me is good and healthy and i never really saw any body get fat from it! i just dont know if i can get behind a diet that restricts fruit in any way.

Fiona: THi s has real medical science behind it and its been popular for a real long time..doesn’t that tel you anything about the Atkins Diet?

Morgan: I alternate Atkins and South Beach. I am mainting my weight but I would like to lose another 10 by my wedding. Sugegstions?

Patty: I bet if Dr. Atkins were alive he’d refine his diet and it would look a whole lot like South Beach, he was a very intelligent man and he stood up for what he believed in he just needed some more time to get his Atkins Diet exactly right. But meanwhile, I’m doing the South Beach with some Hoodia and it’s working great for me.

James: A few months ago I tried that Abs diet because that was my main concern and well it didn’t flatten my stomach any. I went back to Atkins and also got the Flex Belt, KILLER COMBO, let me tell you! The Atkins is helping me eat right to get the weight off and this ab belt is firming my abdominal muscles so the inches are coming off. no amount of exercise/sit-ups could work this well. SOmebody else mentioned being unhappy wiht her stomach so I just wanted to mention this and let you all know what can work for you.

Stephanie: I’m doing my own version of the Atkin’s Diet, I’m having chopped broccoli on everything I cook and/or eat, I learned that as a trick in Maine, there’s a restaurant that does that, and everything tastes good and is really healthy, they even put it on lobster! And I’m still doing the fat/meat thing, just the broccoli extra…seems to be working, 3 pounds down in a week and I feel pretty good, too.

Anonymous: The Atkins Diet – ug, I am sick of it. I have done it before and I tried it again recently – lost about 10 pounds over 3 months and gained back 15 in 3 weeks. I don’t think it is healthy for me anymore. I am over 40 now and prob need a metbaolism booster. Be warned atkins diet is sssssllllloooooowwwwww!

Michelle: Morgan, the stress of your wedding should no it for you, I lost 22lbs before mine because I was so freaked out:) Unless you wedding is next year, the Atkins diet is not gonna help you loose 10lbs fast. It took at least 4 months to loose that much weight for me. I like the diet though, i feel good.

Ellie: Mild Thumbs Down. Atkins Diet is too slow and I do not really like their new products. Am looking for an appetite suppressant so I can continue to eat my favorite foods just in smaller portions.

Sally: I’m sure that this diet works better for men than for women, my husband and I have been doing it for the past month and it’s way easier for him, I think it’s just a guy thing to be able to get along on mostly meat better than women, we need more carbs to keep our curves, and that’s what I’ve discovered doing atkins diet, I’m liking my body shapely, not a lean machine, so I’m quitting this and am only going to go to Curves and eat less desserts.

Rochelle: Its great, I always go back to the induction phase whne I need to lose a few pounds quick..i think thats the fastest part of the Atkins diet…i can never stick wiht the diet for too long, but eating extreme for 14 days works for getting into a old dress or whatever.

lenora: I tried my best but the induction phase of Atkins Diet kept tripping me up. I cheated on fruits initially, and then i figured, well what the heck i am off the wagon anyway and started eating breads that were not allowed. I know its my fault becuase if i had just left it at the fruit cheating it probably would have been ok. But i am of the belief that if you cant do something right you should not do it at all and when i cheated on the fruit it all went down the drain for me.

Daphne: Not eating sugar has made a huge difference in how I feel, see, somehow Dr. Atkins put his Diet together before we all even knew about the glycemic thing, and that’s why it’s working for me, I think I must have been prediabetic and didn’t even know it. 5 pounds in 3 weeks is not exactly gang busters, but for me, it seems to be a healthy way to go.

Pamela NJ: I have never done a diet before so when looking to do one I narrowed it to the 2 most popular, at least when I am from NJ :The Atkins diet and the South beach diet. I got both books and read them both. I was actually gonna go with the Atkins diet after finishing both book and did a bit more research and I am suprised to see that most dieters prefer the south beach diet (the ratings are way higher). I am a pretty average person so I think I am gonna have to go with the south beach. Thanks for helping me make a more educated decision!

cynthia: hmmm well it has been quite a while now and I am into the second phase of ATKINS DIet and i would have thought that i would have lost more weight by now. I am kind of upset at how sloooooooow this diet is turning out to be, it makes me wondder how on earth it even got to be so popular. Am i doing something wrong? i am following it to the letter……

Cara: Getting over my carb addiction is not an easy task but I was sick of letting ti get the better of me so thats how come I started Atkins diet 5 months ago. I am doing okay, taking hte Hoodia bites too, like other people talked about to help me get through the days. I don’t care for the atkins bars for snacks so i just take teh hoodia bites and skip them. In the first two months I lost 7 lbs and that has about doubled since including the Hoodia bites.

Tiffany: I’m liking running and hiking and when I was on the Atkins Diet I could hardly put one foot in front of the other but now I’m doing Weight Watchers and yeah, it’s slow, sure, but I have tons of energy and I know the exercise is a huge part in losing weight and so I’m doing more than I have for a long time and encouraged that I’ve lost 6 pounds in a month, so this is the way for me to go, not starving myself with meat products.

shohreh: my goodness the Atkins Diet is strict! I have been trying very hard to maintain the first phase of this diet plan but it is greatly struggling to me. I may have to discontinue, especially since nothing seems to be happening for me. The diet is too slow with no results.

Joanie: I totally agree atkins diet is too slow. I am eating the leek soup recipe advocated in French Women Don’t Get Fat. This is much better right now. And warming!

Anonymous: A bunch of excuse makers, that is what fat people are. They simply do NOT want to change! Then, they come to blog like this one to cry so they can feel better about themselves. The truth is, if The Atkins diet didn’t work fro you, it’s because you did not want it to!!! Good luck loosers!

Theodora: I like my pizza delivery guy better than Dr. Atkins Diet, no, really, and life is too short to not eat what you want, it’s just portion control for me, so am looking into the appetite suppressant side of things…

candace worth: the recipes are better than expected with the atkins diet; i thought it would be all eggs and red meat and cheese but i’ve found quite a few that have fressh veggies and fruit…pretty tasty. i think this will make the diet easier, knowing there is some variety some wehre down the line.

erica: I would like to know where the Atkins DIET got such a great reputation since my weight loss seems to be taking forever and all i do is dream of fettucine and doughnuts (weird choices, yeah, but I agree with whoever posted earlier that this diet brings out almost ‘pregnancy-like’ cravings in you). I feel like i alreayd know i am going to fall off the wagon with this, it is just a matter of when. I need a more moderate diet that isn’t like torture.

Ravika: I would rather just eat carbs in moderation. Who says that? South Beach? I’ll do that. I am just tired of trying to follow Atkins diet and totally deprive myself only to binge later and feel terrible about my willpower.

LEE: Don’t know who you think you are to come and say that fat people are a bunch of whiners but that is Just CRUEL to say! I went on a diet because I was at high risk for heart disease and after 3 months of Atkins diet, I was only 7 lbs lighter and my risk was not decreased any! I did it right, and exercised and the weight did not budge. I think surgery is my next option.

lora: i agree that it is terrible to call fat people a bunch of “lazy loosers”. Atkins DIET is to slow. the fact is a person who is morbidly obese *(like me 210 lbs) sould be able to at least shed those first 15 lbs or so quite easily. But for me it took literally FOREVER just to get the first POUND off. This diet is all deprivation and no results and you can throw stones at fat people all you want but that will not change reality. sorry but that nis how i feel.

shelly: well i only wanted to lose 10 lbs and so i did atkins but i think it works for anyone who sticks to it, fat or just with a “little extra to love”! it took me almost 8 months but I got down to wear I wnated to be with atkins diet and still watch my carbs more than i ever used to. no it is not easy & painless but it can work if you make it work.

Jamie: All i know is, if you are looking to expedite your progress with Atkins Diet, don’t take Alli! Wooo you might just lose half a pound instead of 1/8th of a pound! seriously, i would like to find something that helps the weight come off faster with Atkins. Something is misssing here. It is certainly not the weight.

Maureen: If I had to rate the Atkins diet after reading the book, I would give it a B+ maybe an A-, but after doing the diet and not loosing as much as I had hoped I would have to give it a C-.

jojo: I guess the science behind the Atkins Diet makes a lot of sense, especially on paper, I read the book twice! In practice however, it was another story. I just don’t think Atkins diet is really the best way out there. I mean no human being can be happy while on atkins diet it is just not possible. But then again it is a diet..:( I am looking for antoher way…

Ken: The Atkins Diet is just too strict, as a lifestyle. Sure I know “dieting is a lifestyle and takes commitment, yada yada yada, but here’s the thing. I lost more than 20 lbs with it, then it crept back on over the next two years. Sure i got lazy but really I was setting myself up for failure on this. Since it took me nearly a year to get that weiht off in the first piace, this is not a diet I;m about to go back to. I’d like ot lose it, for good, and am considering either the Cheat to Lose diet or maybe a supplemetn that has been mentioned. I need a less restrictive lifestyle than what the atkins diet allows, something more balanced.

Anonymous: I just thought that the induction phase of ATKINS Diet was too too severe(and I am NOT a habitual “complainer” so please do not accuse me of this)…that’s an area that I think South Beach diet does much better. See, you have to think about human psychology: the beginning of a diet is always the hardest,.people are still trying to adjust to eating less, incorporating better habits…that’s why i think its not cool to be all strict and severe all at once, becuase people are more likely to just drop out before they even get too far in. That is the chief flaw of the atkins diet in my opinion. South Beach is just a lot more “doable” from the very beginning, there’s not a period where you are just DYING of hunger….and the speed of the weight loss is more or less the same, the South Beach diet might even be a little bit quicker.

nadine. KT: ITs the only way to get my husband to diet, no way can I get ned to try eating more salad or meal replacement shakes or some such. He won’t go for it and he needs to lose now. Hes on Atkins diet and well, so am I, no sense in preparing two separate meals and all every day. We doing it together and like it so far, 8 days in.

minniejackson: YEah its true, what you all are saying. I read the book and then decided to go ahead and do the Atkins Diet..and really on day 4, I had enough. Whenever people tell me they are gonna do it, I ask them to keep me updated, out of personal curiosity and no one has had long term success, that I know. The South beach diet I think is an overal better diet plan, and I looked into those Slim10 pills capsules too, they even have a carb blocker so I might try those. I’m gonna see how I do on that. Atkins was not the best diet plan for me, sorry.

tlr: I’ve read all these comments about Atkins being too slow. Are you sure you are doing it right? I lost 15 pounds the first month and have continued to lose an average of 3 pounds per week since June 07. This diet has worked extremely well for me. My ‘low carbing’ I’ve stablized my insulin levels and the cravings are gone completely.

linda: well maybe i did not do Atkins properly, all i know is when i was in the induction phase i felt like i was starving. it is simply too severe, and it didn’t help me to stay on the diet. All i can say is maybe my metabolism is slow because i lost maybe 2 lbs total by the time i quit which was most of the wahy thru Induction.

deb: I did atkins in 2000 and lost 45 lbs. in about 3 months. I followed the book to the letter, you are not supposed to feel hungry- if you do, then eat something that is allowed from whatever phase you are in. The only issue I had with the diet is the cost-meat is expensive. I kept the weight off for 6 years until my husband lost his job and we had to go back to eating hamburger helper. I did have more energy and felt better when I was on the diet-but you do have to drink water and you have to follow the diet as written in the book.

kim: I’ve been doing OK on Atkins, but just like you Deb, I’m in a bit of a financial crunch and I would just as soon save my money. I found a nice affordable hoodia pill (hoodia P57) which is working quite nicely and helping me eat sensible portions of all foods. i am doing better so far on the hoodia than i did on Atkins in 1 month.

Donna: HELP!!!!!!! I have been on the Atkins Diet for 2 weeks FAITHFULLY and havent lost an ounce Please Give me some advise

barb: Atkins was really difficult, really depriving, and i wasn’t seeing results that would make that deprivation worth while. in fact, i lost only 3 lbs before i finally decided i couldnt take it. I am on south beach now and while it is similar in some ways, its just a lot more reasonable and flexible and i feel like i;m going to stick to this one.

leslie: I have been on the Atkins diet for one week and lost 2lbs. I never feel hungry but i feel a little depressed. I decided to start having 1 of the atkins granola bars for breakfast and lunch and then a big salad with any kind of meat for dinner. We’ll see if that will keep me going..

Melanie: This is for crystalB Atkins protein bars. Get them at walmart, well anywhere. They will kill the cravings for sweets. Yummy Melanie

Elizabeth D.: With Atkins diet, i lost a lot of weight right away, and then hit a plateau sometime in the third month. I was first on this in June of 08 and I had lost about 12 lbs by july. Since then, I only lost about 2 more lbs on the diet..I don’t know what i did wrong but, I just couldn’t lose. I never felt hungry and I exercised, but, I wonder if maybe I was eating too much or something? ANyway ,this didn’t work for me.Maybe South beach diet will be next, some of you I see had better sucess.

judyl: CRYSTALB i have found sugar free jello with a tablespoon of sugar free coolwhip mixed in with it helps with cravings, just have it in the fridge at all times

annie v.: was on the atkins diet for about 3 yrs, going on and off of course. lost weight, maintained for awhile, regained, lost again, regained even more. for me atkins diet was a cycle just as bad as any yo-yo diet. recently i started on the south beach diet and lost more weight in 3 weeks than i ever did on atkins. i don’t know the outcome yet, but i do know i’m done wiht the atkins for good now.

Drus: the diet really works if you stick to it. there are plenty of choices out there to keep the variety plentiful. I lost 30 lbs in less than 2 months and it wasn’t difficult.

Milo: Been following Atkins diet since 2002, its now 2009 and my weights pretty much stayed the same, very little fluctuation in that time. Thumb up.

T.Elroy: See, I guess maybe thats my issue with Atkins..I don’t really want to stay on a diet like this for years and years and years. I know that, maintaining requires work on my part, but I’m just not all that psyched about the limitations here. I’ve been on this maybe 7 weeks now and I think its HARD to stick to this! I’m losing, sure, but its torture! I am not sure that the the 1-2 lbs/week that I’m losing is worth it. Does anyone take a fat burner while on this? I’m at my wits end here.

ah: hard to maintain over a long period.

Judy H: I lost 80 lbs in 6 months on Atkins, I thought it was the easiet diet I had ever been on. But you do have to follow the book exactly. I had a lot of co-workers on the diet the same time I was, and they were eating jars of peanuts, eating just a bite of bread etc – and that will throw the diet off. It is 4 years later and I still have the weight off. I have wavered and gained back 10lbs a couple times – but took it back off. It is hard that first couple weeks, but once you get by that – your cravings level off.

dahlia: I am going on week four and couldn’t be happier. I have already lost ten pounds and feel great. I am a self proclaimed carb addict and at first it was very difficult for me to cut them all out, however I hardly crave them anymore. I find that eating plenty of veggies, keeping well hydrated, and snacking on nuts helps stave of hunger. From my experience, people who have failed on this diet didn’t actually get the whole concept. You need to read the book and follow the plan to a “T”. Of course it is hard, what diet isn’t, and you cannot expect a miracle to happen over night. It is well known that Americans eat too many processed carbs and diabetis type 2 is on the rise, it is only logical that cutting this stuff out will improve our health. I look at the program not as a temporary fad diet but a lifestyle change. The proof is in how I feel, how my clothes fit, and my blood pressure going down, all without exercising. Soon I will begin an exercise progam and I can only expect to gain better results.

Tabata: I just switched to the South Beach diet and I feel like it is a lot easier than the Atkins on which I failed. I am also loosing more weight faster. I am only on phase one and have lost 8 pounds already. If Atkins does not work for you, you should really consider the south beach.

Barb: I tried atkins a few years ago with much success. I lost approx 20 lbs give or take ove a 3 year period. This past year has been a stressful one and I gained it all + back. I recently started up again, lost 7 lbs off the bat, but it’s been slow moving since. Has anyone tried colon cleansers? I think that may be part of the problem.

Becca, Santa Clara: Hi Barb, I was noticing a similar problem when I started on the Atkins diet, the weight loss was very slow. I used cleanseRx and lost 14 lbs in the two months I was on it – its pretty gentle too, btw. I just took a pill for one month, then a drink mixture for the second month. I defintely benefitted from the cleanse; not sure about this diet though, I’m losing the weight a little more easily but am worried that it might be bad for my cholesterol, as my two sisters just found out theres had gone up, and they both were on Atkins for awhile. I’m not sure I should stick to it now or find a different diet.

Jessica: Well I have not personally tried the atkins diet, but my husband recently has been doing it and also several other people i know. We have recently found out how dangerous the diet really is, did you know that to have healthy brain functionality your body has to have 100 carbs and that is just to function. Also the reason the atkins diet works is because it makes ytou lose water weight not actual fat. in order to affectively loose weight you have to eat healthy (a balanced diet) and exercise. Once you stop the atkins you will just gain all the weight back or atleast most of it.

DJ: The atkins is ‘ a way of life’ you add carbs in time. And you definately need to take vitamins. Common sense if you eat a lot of cheese you will get constipated therefore need to take s stool softener. This diet really does work. I had lost 10 lbs first week and went from 175 to 148 in no time. Of course, I kept my carbs under 10-15 a day. No diet is easy as food is sooo good, but with this diet you don’t ever have to be hungry.

julie: Well i dont know about a stool softener, i dont like laxatives, but I’ve been taking a probiotic supplement (turbozymes) along with Atkins and its helping me w/digesting cheese quite well, no constipation at all. A really good supplement for any diet btw, since it also increases metabolism. Still not sure how i feel about Atkins yet, but I’m def. going to see it through.

paula: ive had such good luck with adkins im using it again again ! ILL BE THIN IN NO TIME,ITS EASY TO STAY ON AND JUST KEEP EATING!

Cindy: About six or seven years ago I was a huge beleiver in atkins Diet, I went on it with some girl friends for support and we were all losing. I lost the 21 lbs I wanted to and tried to stay on it after..but the weight just came back. I was thinking about doing it again to lose but did not want to be in the same position in another 5 years or whatever. I said, I’m gonna really really do some research first. And you know, the general consensus about this diet has changed quite a bit since i did this in 2002. A lot of people (professionals) thought it was okay then, and now have changed thier tone. Now I just find new recipes on line and take a fat burner slim10 to help wiht the weihgt loss. This way, I feel I can keep the weight off once I hit my goal bcs I’ll know how to eat better. And 11 lbs down so far (4wks)

Joan: I have been on the diet for one week and have lost 5 pounds. I think my main focus is to jump start my weight loss and then move to a less restrictive diet but still incorporate some of the Atkins program, less refined carbs and more whole grains and fiber rich carbs. I am not craving sweets or refined breads at all. I am pleasantly surprised that I am not. I expect the weight gain to plateau. I would like to lose another 15 pounds so hope that Atkins can at least allow me to learn how to live without a lot of sweets and breads.

MICHELLE: Atkins works I know! I Stay away from Carbs! I lost 18lbs in 30 days. You need will power and self discapline to stay away from carbs. Im so proud of myself! ATKINS WORKS TRUST ME.

Terra: I am sold on the Atkins diet. This being said it is not for everyone. I think we are all different and all lose weight differently. I have done the Atkins diet off and on for 6 years, with great success each time. My mom actually gains weight on this diet and does much better on a low fat diet. Like I said everyone is different. I admit it is hard to stick with if you are a carb freak like me. The results are so fast for me that it pushes me to stick with it. I stay with induction for longer than recommended, I don’t know if it is good or bad but it works for me. Once I lose the bulk of my weight I start eating whatever I want one day a week and stick to the diet the rest of the week. I find that I don’t hit plateaus by doing this. For me it is not something I can do the rest of my life, it is a diet. I know it’s bad to be a yo yoer but I do it every year in the spring to shed the winter pounds. It’s fast, and that’s the best part.

Emily: I’ve been on Atkins for 3 weeks now and have lost 13lbs. The only drawbacks I find are headaches sometimes and very thirsty. I don’t really feel hungry on the diet but do sometimes get a craving for something sweet and find the no sugar jelly with berries and cream a real lifesaver.

Charles: People in this blog seem to be surprised that they put the weight back on after they reached their desired weight. If you go back to eating the way you did before the diet it will come back on. That’s what made you overweight the first time. If you go back to the old way of eating, you’ll put weight on after every diet out there. Also, for whomever said that Dr. Atkins died of clogged arteries, get the facts, it was a blow to the head that killed Dr. Atkins. It’s not for everyone, but it worked for me. I went from 265 to 215. 4 years ago. Yes, I strayed a little, and I’m now at 230. I’m starting Atkins again to get back to 215.

Jennifer: I did atkins about 5 years ago and lost 50 lbs. I felt good I felt in control and then I got preganant, This is not a good diet for preganant or nursing mothers, so I stopped I have had 3 kids since then and gained all back of course. now it is time to loose the weight. I think I will give it another try because once I got through the first stage I felt great and did not crave sugar any more, It was the best feeling and I would like it back again. The only problem I have right now is I am nursing my baby and wish I could get a version of atkins that was safe for me and my baby.

Audra: I lost over 60 lbs on Atkins and my sister lost 80 and is now a size zero and has been a sz zero for 3 years now! For those of you that are having problems with cravings and other issues, i visit a message board called lowcarbfriends (dot) com and it has really helped me. I notice I do best when I am on there because it keeps me motivated. But it is not just for atkins dieters, I know South Beachers and other lower carb dieters are on there. Just a suggestion. Good luck with your diets! ~Audra

cindy: question…u peeps who are having this slow weight loss, are u exercising? Iv been in atkins 2 weeks and have lost 11 lbs. i exercise at least on hour a day…if ur not exercising try it, it will increase your energy and your weight loss

Sarah: If you are craving carbs, then you’re probably eating too many carbs. I stop craving bread and pasta and the like after about 4 days of strict adherence to Induction. I have always been happy with my results on the Atkins Diet. My head is clearer, I have no problems with heartburn, and I can see the results quickly, which is excellent for motivation and commitment to the program.

Karrie: Ok so i have been on my diet almost 3wks and i have lost 15lbs without exercising. Now i havent lost any more weight so i guess i will have to exersise now ughh… LOL But i love it it is the best diet ever! And im never hungry, yea at first i wanted a little debbie so bad but 4 days after i started i saw that i was 7lbs lighter, i was like screw the sweets, im gonna be tiny again!. Anyways wish me luck!!

Patti: I have had nothing but great success on Atkins. I’ve lost 12 lbs in a month. I find that after the Induction phase, I really don’t crave the sweets or carbs as much as I used to. I used to LOVE sitting down with a bowl of buttered noodles. But now, I am not tempted at all. I really had to stick to the Induction phase for the full two weeks and have the will-power to do it. I think I love it mostly because I like savory items over sweets in the long run. It also has helped that my husband and I are doing it together. I have found a routine that is great for my weight loss. If I deviate too far from it, I stop losing weight and/or gain weight. For breakfast I eat sausage patties and a cup of coffee, lunch I have a great salad of romain, spinach, sliced hard boiled egg, ham slices and grape tomatoes. Dinner is some kind of protein and vegetable, usually baked chicken since my husband is typically cooking dinner. We make leg quarters frequently. I also have different types of fish that I’ll switch out for dinner. Snacks include apples, strawberries and/or blueberries in half&half, Atkins Chocolate Soy Crips bars, roasted peanuts celery and cream cheese dressed with hot sauce. If I stick to this, I can lose about 1 lb. per day. One thing that Atkins has taught me is to READ LABELS. I have a personal standard now that if it has more than 5 net carbs (total carbs – dietary fiber <– I do this because usually that is the ones that are listed on typical labels), I won’t chose to eat/buy it. I also read Atkins for Life thoroughly. It’s become my second bible. Maybe I have a better flair for being creative with cuisines. I’m not having the difficulty with finding or creating recipes that are Atkins friendly. Many of my recipes are Atkins friendly – just have to subtract the rice or pasta.

alicia: when i first read the atkins book i was on board with it and i thought it was the greatest thing ever. Problem is with no calorie restrictions i just overate the things on the list and besides that i was sooo tired all the time. I think i will just stick to a healthy balanced diet thank u.

Daniel in CO: I had good results with Atkins.I ate sensible meals for breakfast and dinner had only Atkins for lunch and lost 150 Lbs and kept it off.I eat a low-carb,high-protein,medium-fat diet, and gave up all cakes, pies, cookies and carbonated beverages. After two years of my low-sugar diet even Atkins tastes too sweet and syrupy. If Atkins made a drink with little or no sugar,I would start using it again.

Mary M: Reading most of these comments I see 2 recurring themes: 1)Atkins not fast enough 2)Needing to give up favorite foods. 1)It is our American way of wanting instant gratification. Just give me a pill that will magically take away in a month all of the fat it took me 5 years to put on. Don’t ask me to have patience. I want the weight off NOW!!! 2) We want the tastes and good feelings we get from our favorite foods so we refuse to give them up. Who cares what all of this sugar and white flour is doing to our bodies? The fact that diabetes and obesity has risen off the charts in the past 50 years in conjunction with the change in the increase of our consumption of refined sugar and starches is not being considered by the people responding here. Atkins is NOT a diet!! Diet suggests something we do for a temporary time frame and then go back to eating “normal”. Well, people, low carb, especially restricted refined carbs, WAS normal 50 and more years ago. All of these people wanting a quick fix and addicted to foods would consider eating the way their (great) grandparents ate back in 1920-1950 as totally unacceptable and restrictive. Food did not taste so “yummy” back then. Yet the incidence of heart disease and diabetes was 1/3 of what is is today. Dr. Atkins goes into this in his book. We have become addicted to sweetness and carbs. We are addicts who refuse to give up our drugs of choice. So we have become obese. We develop diabetes and we rely on pills rather than our foods to solve the problems which we brought upon ourselves. Consumption of carbs and insulin issues go hand in hand.Dr. Atkins explains this and the cholesterol issues in the book. I wonder how many of these people who are complaining about the Atkins way of life really actually read the book? For those who put down this WAY OF EATING (not a DIET) for life and want a quick fix remember this blog when you are diagnosed with heart disease and/or diabetes, and have regained the wt you lost quickly with your quick fix pills and “diets”. Once you go off your “diet” and return to eating “normal” every pound you lost by dieting will return… and then some. And your health will continue to decline as well. BTW: look at our children today. Childhood obesity is rampant. Why: kids eat way too much junk foods laced with hidden sugar and excess carbs, as well as fats. Our health care system will not be able to handle their issues 30 to 40 years from now.

Mary M: Oh: issue #3) being hungry all the time. Atkins does not restrict quantity of food. If you are hungry eat some more protein: Some cheese, chicken, roast beef etc. Being hungry is NOT an acceptable excuse for going off of the Atkins way of eating. Feeling weak will also improve after the first week or so too.

Tansysmom: For those having problems with the Atkins diet, my advice is don’t cheat! I found that you don’t necessarily have to do the induction part of the diet, which is extremely restrictive, and you CAN eat more in the way of low-glycemic vegetables. But you do have to eliminate sugars, starches, grains and most high-glycemic vegetables. Replacement foods, such as artificial sweeteners, are a bad idea. Your body will never get over the craving for sweets. Also, thinking you can incorporate huge amounts of cream and fat into the diet is a misnomer. In doing so, the weight-loss diet becomes a ketogenic diet used for medical purposes, in which case patients MUST use huge amounts of fat in order NOT to lose too much weight. Don’t worry about this diet being unhealthy. It isn’t as long as you understand and adhere to the basic principles. Moreover, it is self-modifying in the maintenance phase. In my experience, the naysayers rarely know what they are talking about.

Tansysmom: In addition to my previous comment, I would like to add that anyone who thinks the elimination of pastries, breads, pastas, sodas, etc., is unhealthy does not have a good understanding of which foods and food combinations cause obesity. If you absolutely cannot give up these things (as some people have indicated), maybe you need to inquire into your reasons. Obesity and emotional problems are often closely related.

ron wehner: I kept myself on the induction phase for 4-1/2 months and lost 50lbs.!!! godbless dr.”A”!!!

RHopkins: Reading all of the previous comments, it is clear to me that most with negative things people are saying the #1 problem is called WITHDRAWAL. The second thing is, obviously, near to none of you are DIABETIC. I have fantastic results with Atkins; in less than the two week Induction period, I have lost 11 pounds. Atkins becomes EASY after the first few weeks, and I personally could not believe that, ME, ms.”eat the hole bag of Cheetos” and “don’t touch my ice cream” and, especially, “this is MY box of Whitman’s Chocolates, where’s yours?” could possibly, ever, be ok on this. I am. If you are hungry, then, NO you are NOT doing it right. Eat what is outlined for the phase! Please, DON’T GIVE UP SO FAST! I have been near death with diabetes, and I KNOW this is the answer.

nancy E: Have been on Adkins since the fall and have lost 20 lbs and kept it off . I am not hungry which has been my downfall on other diets. You have to plan meals which I do on Sunday and pack a lunch. I supplement my sweet tooth with adkins bars.

Bunny: I like this diet very much and would like to make it my way of eating forever BUT I have a big problem, my brain does not work right while not eating carbs. Just adding a few does not help. Has any one else had this kind of problem on this diet? Any suggestions?

Slim Kim: If you are craving carbs, try some of the Atkins shakes or bars. They almost make you feel like you are cheating on the diet. If you are feeling hunger pangs, are you sure your body has gone into ketosis? That is what really helps to suppress the appetite. Exercise also helps to suppress your hunger as well as boost your weight loss. It is an absolute must. I am 4 weeks into the diet…now in the OWL phase and have lost 9 lbs. I look like I have lost more because I am starting to firm up and gain muscle. I think that with the muscle gain, I am going to drop fat faster….so please be exercising with this diet. No diet can do it all but this one is the best and teaches you to change bad eating habits. Good Luck All!!!

John K.: The atkins has always worked for me. i just recently got back on it because i gained a little more weight than planned. It is hard at first and your food selections are slim but i lost about 28 lbs in the first month of doing the atkins, of course i was also drinking alot of water and doing 250 crunches daily. If you have the will power its well worth it!!!

Darlene M: Thank you Mary M for saying what needed to be said. The bottom line is you can’t have your cake and eat it too. You can’t have a thin body and hang on to your old eating habits. It’s hard work to get thin and stay that way for alot of us. Is is worth it? Each person has to decide that for him or herself. I’ve read alot of helpful stuff on this site to keep me going and motivated. Thank you all for taking the time to share your experiences with Atkins. I love the diet.

Stephanie: I think that the big pointer people need to remind themselves of is that Atkins isn’t just a diet but it is a change of life. To loose weight and then maintain it off you have to change your eating habbits forever. If you cut out carbs while you are on the diet and then go carb crazy afterwards then you are for sure going to gain your weight back. I just started the Atkins diet but I like to refer to it as the beginning of a healthier and happier me!

Shawn: Ok here it is!!! The only way you will get results, is if you execise with this diet. Put a little effort into the diet. Stop sitting around and complaining and just be focused.Push through the first couple weeks and things will get easier. The problem is we want to sit on couch and exspect weight to fall off. We need to remember that we will be tired for about the first month but keep going to the Gym. At least do 30 min of cardio and 30 min working out and you will get the result that you want. This coming from a guy that doesn’t even have a thyroid. It was removed last year and I have been able to maintain weight just fine with this diet. So stop complaining and get in the Gym.

Luann: Was on this diet 4 yrs ago and lost 40 lbs in 6 weeks. Homemade chocolate chip cookies were my craving so I went back to eating the way I did before and regained the weight over the past yrs. I went back on the Atkins diet and so far I have lost 8 lbs. in 4 days. I stick only to whats allowed on the induction phase plus something extra. I loved pastas but these are not allowed so I found something called the Miracle Noodle online and it has zero carbs. I know what your thinking, but these are not allowed in the induction phase, but they are zero carbs and I still lose weight using them so,Google it, try it, and u will find that if you follow the instructions that come with it, that it tastes really good fixed as you would spaghetti, fettuccine, etc. They have several varieties of noodles and rice substitutes. This stuff is not really pasta but it sure tastes like it. Its really a root that the Chinese people have enjoyed for yrs. Hits the spot with me. I sauteed some ground chuck together with some diced celery, onions, bell peppers, & a few sliced mushrooms. When chuck was almost done I added a little diced tomato and the rinsed miracle noodles, sauteed them for a few minutes & then plated them. On top of them I sprinkled some garlic powder & black pepper, then a generous sprinkling of shredded cheddar cheese. (Could have added parm cheese but didn’t have any.) All I can say is it tasted like a piece of heaven to me & my dog had some too. No complaints from him either.

Nancy: I lost 11lbs. My first month but am at a standstill. I still need to lose 30 more and don’t know what i am doing wrong. Any suggestions out there?

Lauren Sloan: Maybe a cardio routine? I know exercising is a must for me even with a good diet. I am even considering running with flex belt to work on my abs at the same time.

Sharon Schneider: I have been on Atkins diet for almost 4 months but I have only lost 18 pounds…what am I doing wronge …I like the diet…please help me…

Atkins Diet

The Atkins Diet was created by Dr. Robert Atkins. The book Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution was published in 1972 and was the plan’s first exposure to the public. The diet blamed obesity and many related diseases to the overconsumption of refined carbohydrates. In order to overcome these problems, the plan suggested dieters go to a strict low to no carbohydrate diet, allowing the body to return to its naturally healthy state before slowly reintroducing some carbohydrates into the diet.

The Atkins Diet is broken down into four stages: Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre Maintenance, and Lifetime Maintenance. The induction phase of the Atkins Diet is the most restrictive, calling on dieters to eliminate most carbohydrates from their diet, eating less than 20 grams total every day. Even fibrous vegetables like potatoes and carrots are off limits during this stage. The phases of the AtkinsDiet get progressively less restrictive as time goes on until reaching the Lifetime Maintenance phase. Even with this last stage of the diet, dieters are told not resume the carb heavy eating style they once adhered to.

While the Atkins Diet is outlined in detail within the pages of Dr. Atkins’ books, the book is not said to be a requirement. However, at the time of this review, a paperback version can be purchased for less than $10. The Atkins company also sells a variety of supplements, snack foods, and other products to assist dieters. Many of these are available from the official website, where they vary widely in price.
