Acai Berry

jennifer H.: Seems a person can barely turn on my computer without seeing an ad something about Acai Berry…finally, I caved in and decided to try…got some Acai juice…it tasted Ok, but after a few months i didn’t notice any improvements in my weight or “youthfulness” or anything. I think this might just be the latest fad. Doesn’t hurt i guess, but its no “miracle.”

Liz: I’d heard a lot about Acai and the benefits that this berry has so when I saw the Oprah Winfrey diet of pure acai, claiming i could lose 20 lbs in 25 days, I was really curious about it. I got a free trial and was stoked to start losing the weight.It seemed real healthy, you know, even if its a new fad or soemthing. Well the berries taste good,but, I didn’t lose any weight. Seriously, not a single pound! i don;t know how she can put her name on this diet, it was worse than Slimfast, which I’ve never had any luck with either. Maybe the berries have antioxidants but, from my experience, they are not good for weight loss, not this diet anyway.

Jenna: I just started taking an Acai Berry supplement and I think I did stave off a cold but I don’t know if it is going to work as a diet aid which is the main reason I bought the stuff really. We’ll see. It may not live up to all the hype.

laurel: I just read that Acai Berries have an “exceptionally high fat content!” WTF?????

Eve: I am taking Acai Berry Nutrient and I feel great, I have extra energy after work which isn’t at all like me so I have been going to the gym almost every day and I have lost 12 pounds already. I think this stuff must really work good.

mandy jackson: well i’ve bought the sambazon smoothie packs (acai berry) from safeway and i love the flavor. and i get an energy boost..i never expected to lose weight from this product but i’m sure it keeps my immune system stronger. i am interested in trying other kinds too.

sara: Tried the MonaVie Acai berry juice, i liked the taste,but nothing happened as far as weight loss…how long is it supposed to take? Drank it for 6 weeks…

julee44: now come on, people, you can’t just expect Acai Berry to make you lose weight if you don’t do the work…you have to diet and exercise as well. If you follow a sensible diet and take Acai Berry you WILL see results! But not just by complaining.

dawn: HI Julee44, i get what you’re saying but alot of Acai products promote themselves as being independent weight loss tools, like they should work without you being on a diet. you know they say oprah loves it and Jen Aniston loves it and they make you think it is a *miracle* and that is deceptive in my opinion. If I’m gooing to diet i will just diet, i dont need some fatty berry to do it.

Elisabeth: I tried something made by Amazon Thunder called Acai Puree and I have yet to notice any improvement in my energy level which has somehow been very low for the past year. I was not expecting miracles but a little improvement would have been nice. Thumbs down to acai berry.

Elisa: This was disappointing. Actually misleading. I bought the Extreme Acai Berry pill hoping to lose weight in 3 days; I’d read that I could lose up to 12 lbs that quickly! I guess it was supposed to sort of cleanse, and supposedl had no side effects. Well, no side effects is an understatement…for me there really were no effects. I felt a little more..spunky..but that’s all. Zero pounds lost = no good product.

Christine: Is Acai Berry from the Arctic?

Milan: Did someone say they LIKE MonaVie?? Yuck. I thought it was overpriced and too sickeningly sweet tasting. Plus no weight loss from that stuff. It was the only “Acai berry” product I’ve tried but I really was not impressed. I know these berries are not something I’ll be looking for to lose weight with, that’ s for sure.

lisa: For a while i was drinking TruAcai which is organic Acai Berry juice..this wasn’t cheap, $19.99 for just 32 oz. It was fine, the flavor was OK but i didn’t fall in love with it….but there was no difference for me. certainly, i did not lose weight.

Anonymous: Look, I just don’t think there is anything special about Acai based on what I have read. It is just another BS thingthat gets a lot of attention for a while and then everyone sooner or later realizes is crap.

Ruth Ann: The Arctic? I thought Acai berry comes from Brazil, the Amazon or something. I;m curious if any of the drinks with these Acai berries have extra sugar in them? I’d be interested in a diet drink but it seems like between the fats in the berry and the fact that fruits are sugary, it may not really be the best thing for my waistline.

nancy: I’m sorry, but i just think this Acai Berry trend is just that – a trend. One of my friends has been bringing it to work every single day for a year and she is still over 200 lbs.

Alice: I heard that Hallie Barry used Acai and I thought, “hmmmm, maybe that’s why she’s so beautiful?” So I decided to try it myself, and do I look even remotely like Hallie? Uh, nope. Not a bit, haven’t lost any weight, don’t feel energetic or even remotely better, so I think this is over rated and it’s also expensive, and I think it’s not anything I’m going to continue to use. Those movie store ladies have secrets we don’t know about.

Marsha: How about the Acai Body Flush? IS it any good as a colon cleanse?

Thomas: If I can live longer with Acai Berry I may try taking it even if it isn’t going to help me lose weigth because you never know in the long run and what’s the harm? That’s just my two cents.

Brenda: Remember when Noni Juice was supposed to be the big deal and if you drank a bunch of it you’d never get sick? Well, I think this Acai Berry is the same sort of thing, it’s supposed to make you get thin and feel better and it doesn’t work, just like the Noni Juice didn’t. So I’m about through with these kinds of natural products, am moving over to something more directed than these kinds of things, and that’s that.

Nina: Im sorry but thumbs down. Acai Berry has nothing, does nothing is just another fad. I know I drank it for over a month and did not feel any lighter.

Nora: Hello everyone, I just read the review and came here in hope to learn some more about Acai Berry. It seems that most of you have been very disappointed by the product you used that contained Acai Berry. My question is has anyone tried just the fruit? Or is it even possible with any kind of processing? I think I read somewhere that Acai Berry go to waste after one day of being picked up.

nancy schultz: acai berry may be just a “trend” but so what? the berries are high in antioxidants – even higher than red grapes. and we all want to stay strong and fight disease, right? i dont think there;s anything wrong with eating the fruit, any more than say eating banana;s for potassium. is anyone gonna go around and start saying “don’t eat your bananas” or stay away from apples?? i don’t think so! i relly don’t see what the debate is all about.

heidi: Yes true, Nancy S. you are right. but its also good to let people know that Acai Berry is not a MIRACLE WEIGHT LOSS CURE like many seem to believe (a notion that is encouraged in a lot of the marketing). Since this is a weight loss blog, we let each other know what works. Acai Berry doesn’t and it did not for me.

Tobias7894: Needed to lose 22lbs and started looking into natural alternatives. I’d read about the Acai berry (not on this blog but somewhere else) and decided to try something that promised fast results. It didn’t help me lose weight, unfortunately, though i did get some energy. Hoodia is a better natural ingredient for weight loss, i have read and am wondering if anyone else whos into natural herbs has tried hoodia bites i am not so much into pills and they sounded good. I will ask over there too.

SueB: I did not loose a single pound drinking acai berry juice. I wished i read all your posts before buying the stuff.

karyn janesezski: I recently read a study that said that Pomegranate juice actually is higher in antioxidants than Acai. I’m a bit confused really.

Amelie: Yes considering that Acai Berry spoils a day after bein harvested, I am wondering what kind of precessing they use to bring it all the way here. I’d love to try Acai Berry but don’t seem to find a trust worthy brand based on the facts.

FannyS: Think the Acai Berry is WAY over rated, didn’t make me lose weight, that’s for sure, in fact I think I ate more with it because I thought it would make me lose weight without me having to pay attention to it, so if somebody said “Chocolate Cake?” I’d say, “SURE!” and maybe have two pieces if it was really good, so the Acai didn’t help that crazy craving and I just ate and ate and now I’ve gained 7 pounds. You still have to watch yourselves, ladies! It may have antioxidents but does not really help with weightloss.

June: I am not sure if I am losing weight. I can say that Acai Berry at least isn’t having any bad side effects like sooo many other diet aids I have tried over the years. Maybe not a miracle fat burner but also not the worst.

PrincessApricot: Think Acai is like drinking cranberry juice, has about the same effect, I think I pee a bit more with it, but honestly? That’s about the only thing I can tell.

joanne: *Acai Berry Juice* here’s the lowdown: its harmless. It wont make you sick it tastes OK depending on the brand you buy. its fruit you can’t really go wrong with fruit. natalie: I didn’t liek the taste of the Acai berry juice either and it left my mouth feeling raw. I don’t remember what brand it was..it was okay at first and then just way too sweet for me. Not a fan of pills either though. You know the Slim Shot diet drinks are really good though, I’ve lost 12 lbs so far (in 3.5 weeeks) i take me in my purse and drink all of them throughout the day, without getting bored with the taste. If your looking for a true diet aid, this ones better as for acai berry I was just not a fan.

Kris: I did wheatgrass and pom juice and all the trends in organic fresh herbs. I am taking Acai Berry though I don’t think it is the most powerful weigth loss supplement it is gentle and it isn’t doing any harm.

Alexia: I think it’s important to research and learn as much as possible before buying something, that is why I love this blog so much. Was about to order a Acai Flush some sort of colon cleanser when I read this on the review : “you should not expect this fruit to cleanse your colon any more than other common fruits….” So I just wanted to say thanks and good luck to everyone!

HeavenyD: Why would Acai have all these special properties? It’s just another little God made berry, and I think all the hype about it is from the advertisers who just want to sell, sell, sell, I don’t see any difference in how I feel one way or the other, it’s just a pleasant beverage, but that’s it. If you’re trying to use it for weight loss? Forget it.

Wendy: Does drinking Acai Berry juice give you more energy? That would be so great right now I am so lethargic and this cold weather is making me want to do nothing but sleep. I can’t gain all the holiday weight this year because I am getting married in February. I have to stay slim and healthy.

Carol P.: For 6 mos I’ve been taking an acai supplement and I feel great. I have been exercising more and also trying to eat more fresh foods,whole grains, less refined flour/sugar, all that. Figured since I turned 50 I really should start taking care of myself beter. I have lost 9 lbs – not much but an improvement! I think it s wonderful!

benna_adams: The one I bought (acai berry) was for cleansing and i had a lot of bad cramps and bloating too from it, plus i was running to the bathroom every 20 minutes it seemed. And I felt no difference after ward. Wish I had read the review first, and I wouldn’t have tried it.

Anna: I think you all are being a bit harsh on the little acai berry, yes i am giving it a thumbs down only because it did not do anything, I mean I may have gotten vitamins but I did not loose any weight, which considering the price I would not buy it again. Cranberry is much much cheaper, like $3.99 a jug.

Mitchell: For awhile I was taking the Acai berry in a pill form and noticed I was urinating a lot more frequently. DId some research into this and my theory is, I was just pissing out any vitamins it may have had anyway. I don’t thin the body can absorb it the same way from a pill. Maybe eating the fruit is good, but as a supplmeent? Thumb down.

Bernadine: Acai is some silly berries, I think I like pomegranite better, just like somebody else said, or even cranberry, or grape, they’re all just nice fruits to get in your body, and that’s all Acai is, too. Nothing magical going on here.

june: *AcaI BeRrY* Be advised that many of these products do not even have a significant % of Acai berry in them. you have to be VERY CAREFUL which one you choose and there are a lot of them out there,.

Gloria: I am going to give a thumbs down because Acai Berry Nutrient doesn’t do what it says it will, namely act as a fat burner to help you lose weight. If they want to market it as a zinx type cold remedy or anything else, fine. But I believed I was getting something that would help me lose this weight and I was ready to diet and have willpower and I am getting nowhere. It is more than disappointing.

SilveryRose: Acai Berries are a nice supplement to a diet, but won’t make you lose weight, I know, I thought they would, too, but for me? Not so much, I like the taste all right, but that’s the only thing that was kind of good about them, they were something different to eat, and make a nice garnish, too.

Kim: For months I’d been seeing ad after ad for Acai berry and colon cleanses and finally decided to do a bit of homework. I never really understood why anyone would want to do a colon cleanse before I read this review but the colon cleanse blog made it sound really good, as long as you get a good product. I don’t think Acai berries have all the right elements for really eliminating toxins though the might have other health benefits.

destiny: Acai BErry is fine as long as you dont expect too much from it. If you just treat it like a healthy fruit you will be fine. if you expect it to make u skinny u will be very disappointed.

brass_monkey4: well i think the Sambazon tastes better than the MonaVie Acai Berry juice, but that’s just a matter of taste. Regarding weight loss or anti-aging, you really cant expect a juice to do that. Just use your heads, people its common sense.

Fleming: Acai is just like everything else in the diet world, if you believe, somewhat like Pixie Dust, it will work for awhile, but the minute you stop? Right back where you started from! I lost and then regained almost the exact same amount of weight, 7 pounds in two weeks. Barbara: I don’t like Acai simply because it didn’t do for me what the ad said for the pills, and that was to lose weight, and I didn’t, I did feel kind of nervous and touchy, but that was the only result I got, and that’s certainly not enough when you have to lose 35 pounds. Do not recommend.

Nestor: Somebody mentioned something about a Acai berry scam and I’m still confused. DOes that mean you just are getting a bogus product or are they gonna rob you too, I know some companies do that,start charging your account and things like that. auntie m.: the “scam” is that all these companies say you can lose weight fast with the acai berry and it is NOT TRUE! so they ARE robbing you Nestor, be glad you found out about it before giving a single penny to those thieves! I thought the Acai Berry Ultimate was particularly bad, all it did was cause me to run to the restroom constantly. This was not a cleanse either….thumbs down.

bizzyBea: well i dont think Acai Berry Juice is especially useful. it did make me have to pee quite frequently and in that sense i suppose it helped eliminate a bit of water, but water is not my problem. Water is not what makes my thighs rub together. That would be FAT.

Blake: Acai Berry is a total joke. I don’t think it is harsh to say thumbs down if it is true because people come here for the honesty and so they know what to choose. Honesty is the best policy.

Camille: Would love to believe that Acai Berry is some kind of magic fruit for weight loss & anti-aging and everything else but the fact is, its just a berry. Good for you to eat over a bag of chips, sure. But not for weight loss. Rory: I cannot believe they would market this is a cleanser. Acai Berry is very mild, an antioxidant SURE, but it is not a probiotic and has not enough nutrients to be considered anything more common than say a blueberry. Be in the know.

SuperSam: Um…I think acai berry needs to be sold along with the apple juice, it’s the same, not so sweet, just a nice beverage.

sascha: no glowing skin, no slim waistline, nothing that was promised came to me from taking acai berry supplements. i tried a few, in different forms, pills, extracts, smoothies, you name it. no different than any other fruit.

paula: well iv been taken the aci berry and colen cleanser and so far no help. i dont feel any diffrent and i think sometimes im more hungery i have tacken the allied pill and lost 85 pounds but it stoped working after about 1 yr, i think our bodys get amound to these things. i will not give up i will keep trying eatting healthy always makes us feel better even if we arent dieting. good luck and god bless

Used it faithfully for one month and did not lose even one pound.But the real scam is that the company charged my credit card $88. after two weeks and then two weeks later sent me another bottle of pills *(which I returned unopened} and charged my account another $94. Ann: I bought this product and started having second thought immediately! I started researching too late and once I read your posts, I cancelled my order and my card. It was after my hour of panic that true enlightenment hit me… The only cure to getting healthier is through a good diet, not a crash diet, and exercise. No berry, pill, or supplement drink is going to save me. Only I can save me. There is no quick fix. I have to just get off the couch, exercise and eat right. We all know what we shouldn’t eat. melissa: Just wanted to add that I have been taking the acai supplement for a year, 1000mg tab daily. I suffer from allergies, triggering sinus infections, then complicating my asma. I have these problems most with seasonal changes and lots durring winter months. Knock on wood I have not seen my doctor yet for antibiotics. By this time I would have been medically treated five times.

Bobbie: I tried Acai Berry pills from the site that offers a month’s supply free. No loss of weight; no extra energy; did spend a lot of time in the bathroom! Then I was charged $79 on my credit card statement without any contact or permission. Had to file a dispute with my credit card company. Two weeks later I received another month’s supply of the pill, which I returned to sender. Watch out who you give your credit card info to!!

Reason for return? customer support gave conflicting info and was told to CANCEL and return product within 14 days from DATE of PURCHASE. Product MUST be in their hands within 3 weeks from date of purchase or I will be billed another bottle. So much for the 14 free days to try the pills since your 14 days starts the day you order!Bank advised we cancel our credit card, keep receipts of product being returned. AcaiBerryBurn also had a product in it that is not advisable to take if you are hypoglycemic or diabetic. Info on the bottle that should have been given before you order!Thumbs down for giving high hopes to those who want to lose weight.

There is no way you can call in time to cancel. You are charged $88 for the first bottle and another one is already in the process of being shipped, so that’s another $88. I had to cancel my credit card to keep from being charged again.

Total Cleanse did advise they would charge nearly $80 too, so I called the number given, it didn’t work. Tried their website regarding refunds, etc., it would not work. Tried another number I found, calling it for several days, and finally got thru to have it canceled. My bank suggested checking your online statement quite often. I for one do not need to pay ANYONE $160 every 15 days for weight loss. If you don’t, BEWARE OF THE VERY FINE PRINT, it will cost you. Acai Berry finally agreed to refund me only $40. em: AcaiBerry what a scam….i had to canel my credit card so they wouldnt charge me. the wedsite cant be found again and all contact emails dont work. The product come in no box no paper work with no recipt or anything. the tablets where crushed and lose in bag.It would be a health risk to take these tablets as i dont know what they are. Terrible. i feel sick to my stomach that i was scamed. i was emailed about them by a friend which didnt sent email to me so i was scamed twice.

gdp: Acai Berry gets a big fat 0 from me. I’ve been taking the pills for a couple of weeks with no noticeable change in energy, no weight loss (no real weight gain either though), they are horse-pill sized and hard to swallow, and I feel more bloated now than before. Definitely over-rated. There are better ways to eat fruit that’s for sure.

alicia: Don’t try this AcaiBerry with the free trial. They started my trial period before I even received the product. My credit card company called yesterday to let me know of suspicious charges; AqaiBerry has charged me three separate times for the so called free trial, and then another charge yesterday for $88. I have been trying to call someone for two days, and went on the live chat, but no one is going to help me out here. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau if I don’t get some answers by the end of this week.

People said it was a nightmare trying to get refunded or to reach a live person in Customer Service. To lose weight as with anything you need to exercise and watch your fat and calorie intake nothing on the market will help you lose or keep off weight unless you make a complete change in every part of your life. S. Webster: I’ve been reading the postings and I found one where the lady was dissapointed that she didn’t lose a huge amount of weight in 3 days. SERIOUSLY! I haven’t used this product but what I’m figuring out is that there is no “MAGIC” serium. So I will try the tried and true methods. Shrink my portions(lower my caloric intake), moderate excerise, plenty of rest and keep myself hydrated. This sounds less expensive.

Dawn Johnson: Agree..I have been on the Acai Berry and Total Cleanse from FWM Laboratories now for near 3 months and have zero results (good or bad). I bought into the “free” trial that wins you a charge of $80 to $200 when they put you into their auto-pay program. Even after I cancelled right away, I found a $80 charge on my card they say was for the “next shipment.” My sister has been fighting then on a $200 charge she got on hers, claiming she did not cancel. Total rip off & Scam as far as I’m concerned. I’m not sure if its the same stuff that was raved about on Oprah or if all these companies decided to scam with this product b/c of Oprah.

Kaltheen: What a waste of money. I bought this and it did NOTHING. A friend told me the same thing after I bought it and used it for 2 weeks. All this hype about the Acai Berry is just that – hype. The fact that Oprah and Rachael Ray are pushing this stuff really makes me mad. People think their word is truth on everything and it is so frustrating !!! Don’t waste your time.

I have had a weight problem all my life and I’ve finally found something that curbs the appetite and puts me back in control. It is just burning fat off of me, I am beginning to see my waist form, my legs look slimmer… i dont know, but it works for me!!!! and i have taken everyting else over the counter daily for the past yr, and all i did was gain more weight until now.

Robert: Well I’m reading alot of people complaining about not losing weight, but how do you expect to loss weight without doing any work? You work to gain weight so you must work to loss it as well. Turtle: It’s unfortunate that many people just consume Acai Berry with the expectations of having instant weight loss. The substance has good nutritional aspects, however the people who are experiencing weight loss while using Acai Berry supplements are the ones on a balanced diet and exercising regularly. NO suppliment, aside from anabolic steroids, will change your body dramatically without other disciplines in your life. You have to do more than just take a miracle pill.

And I couldn’t get but 40 bucks back from the shipment. Apparently there is very small print that says you have 7 days to return it. I received it on the 14th day. So, I was already charged for 3 more months at regular price. On top of that I see no difference in weight loss. It doesn’t work for me. shanita47201: I did many months of research before I found a company that seemed legit. The berry comes from the Brazilian Rain Forest and it needs to be flash frozen within 24 hours of harvesting. Make sure the berry is the only ingredient and the company has not used chemicals or pesticides or any kind of filler. I’m taking it for the health benefits – boost my immune system, healthier heart, smoother complexion, preventing cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, improving my vision etc. As for the weight loss side, I can’t vouch for that because I exersize regularly to maintain my weight. My friend is taking it for the weight loss though and we started a blog on our journey with acai berry. We’ll see how it goes.

Christie: HAd loved so much of what i read about acai berry, I realy was excited to start taking it. BUt yes, PG! i totally felt hungry after taking it! I felt like I was gaining weight,not good. Jan Charlene: I’m 58 and have dieted since I was 15. Not all Acai products are equal. Pick out one that will list how much is in each tablet. This fruit is expensive to harvest and has to be processed with care. I”m using a pill form of Acai, 1000 mg purchased at Walgreens. I lost 10 lbs the first week and have more energy than usual. I agree with all the others, get up and exercise and watch your calories .

Trey: For everybody who wants to try some kind of acai product, you should try the AcaiTrim from Nature’s Organics. It’s very inexpensive- less than $10 (at WalMart), so it’s worth a try. I found a 30 day supply at Walmart, and I know that other stores are selling the product like Walgreens. By the way, it’s in a pill form. The only weird thing about it is that it says “VEGETARIAN FORMULA”. I don’t know what that’s supposed to imply, but others who commented on this product seemed to have liked it.

Kristen: Well I have been taking some form of Acai Berry supplement for the past 8 months and although I have only seen minimal weight loss (5 lbs) it does give me sustained energy and a sense of well-being. Before taking these supplements I was always tired and worn out. Now I feel great! I will say that not all supplements are the same. I highly recommend Super Acai- 1200. I think this works best out of the many different brands I have tried. I just ordered Super Acai Lean and will update to see if it has any weight loss benefits as it claims. I don’t think this is a good weight-loss management product but if your looking to maintain your weight and want more energy I highly recommend it.

But right under her reveiw was the price which was 1 something down and some money a month also for each product. So I went to my local GNC store because I didnt feel like I should have to spend large amounts of money to loose weight. So I picked up an acai berry dietary supplment and a colon cleanser and have been taking it for a week now. I lost four pounds! Now for any diet to work WE have to be willing to change are daily habits as the label are “suggested”… How can you think that you can still eat at McDonald’s 3 times a week and this diet will work for you…or continue to sit on the couch and watch TV, get up and walk…it’s free. help yourself want to lose that weight. I am a mother of two as well and if I am going to spend money on this diet I am damned if it is going to be wasted!!! We have to take control of our own self and help the pills work for us. WE have to be willing to change some of our eating habits to healthier ones, and get an additional 30 minutes (minimum) daily of exercise, for these kind of diets to work for us. Disappointed: I have always eaten right and exercised. I never had a weight issue. In my early forties I noticed a drop in my energy level and therefore didn’t have the energy to exercise as much and so I gained about 5 pounds. I thought the Acai Berry would give me the energy I needed to lose the extra weight. I took it and the colon detox that was recommended. It was horrible. by the fourth day I could no longer leave my house because I was in the bathroom every 20 minutes. I stopped taking the colon detox that day. I continued with the Acai Berry until day 7 when I stepped on the scale and discovered I had gained 3 pounds. There was nothing inside of me thanks to the detox and yet I gained weight. Strongly do not recommend. Horrible experience!!

exercise.addict: For those of you that had tried the Acai Berry (any supplments or the berry) and had said it didnt work or you had no positive results, How many of you combined that with Exercise?! huh? nothing is a miracle, you have to work hard to achieve a good body, and to do that you can combine anything with exercise and you should see some kind of results!! but you need to put the effort in as well! But really who actually exercised at least 3-5+ days a week, while on the berry and still didnt achieve any results?

Betty: The reality is people, you cant expect to remain or increase your health in a positive manner without being physical. There is NO miracle cure for losing weight. Blood, sweat and tears, in combination with a good nutritional diet, good proportions, protien and maybe some B-12 will assist you in an increase of energy, weight loss and just feeling better. I tried sooooo many diets, some losing a substantial amount of wieght, temporarily – but in combination with exercise I am more fit, and physically capable and have been sucessful in dropping pounds and inches and feeling a whole lot healthier and happier in the process!
